Operation Renovation - aka The Christmas Countdown

HelgatheHairy · 01/09/2013 07:31

It's 115 days to Christmas Eve!

You can use this thread exactly like you were using the previous thread to keep track of what you're doing, have lists, ask advice etc. As its about renovation rather than strictly beauty, nothing is off limits so beauty, clothes, exercise, healthy eating.

So here we go!

I can't find the group.

I think the problem is that they don't remove everything. I've found double cleansing and double toning has definitely stopped me being so zitty.

ControlGeek · 19/09/2013 19:22

karbea, I've pm'd you. Sorry, I'm apparently really useless at fb!!! Glad to see you back, by the way :)

I've never used cleansing cloths, but I'm also not very good at removing my makeup Blush I normally only wear eyeshadow and mascara, so it's not like I'm going to bed all caked up or anything.

Dilidali · 19/09/2013 19:26

Hello everyone. I tell you what does work beautifully, one of those microfiber cloths for dusting. I kid you not. On holiday I found a pack of 3 in different colours from my existing ones. So no wipes, chemically ladden with rubbish.
Has anybody seen this?

HelgatheHairy · 19/09/2013 20:13

controlgeek I can't find the group either, can you pm me please.

I know wipes are generally the worst thing in the world. I was hoping maybe they weren't that bad anymore but they still are apparently. I have No.7 misceller (sp?) water so I'll use that. It's just for the morning when there's no hot water. I cleanse properly at night (using Eve Lom at the moment)

ControlGeek · 19/09/2013 20:14

done, helga Smile

JemimaMuddledUp · 19/09/2013 20:14

I use muslin cloths. I re-use the ones from when the DC were babie, I have cut them up and overstitched the edges so that they don't fray.

Right, have filed and painted my nails, usual nude/latte colour because it is so practical. Once DS1 gets out of the shower Hmm I am going in for the full exfoliate/shave/condition etc. Then moisturise. Am hoping it will make me feel less bunged up too, I'm still suffering with this cold.

Then I need to get an early night as I need to leave the house at 7.15am tomorrow to get to my course Shock

petalsandstars · 19/09/2013 20:19

I can't see the right group either - but am on phone app so it might be me

ControlGeek · 19/09/2013 20:31

petalsandstars I've pm'd you just in case. There seem to be an awful lot of groups called operation renovation Blush

I definitely second the microfibre cloths, I bought one a couple of years ago and fell in love - it's been used for everything, and really does only need water to get smears of windows, mirrors, glass etc.

Well, hair is falling down, nails varnish is chipped and I'm on my third beer but I am not at work tomorrow so feel like I owe it to myself to enjoy that given the rest of me feels like crap from this cold. AF due tomorrow as she didn't put in an appearance today, so going to take the weekend of looking good and make it a weekend of feeling good instead.

lucysmam · 19/09/2013 20:45

Well, I have been through all the many many many hundreds of photo's on my phone just now, and apart from a few suspect ones of my arse there are no photo's of me! Or dp for that matter Confused So, once I'm dressed I will take a snapshot in the full length mirror & add a head shot too. (on fb I mean btw).

Who was it who was asking about the Primark eight quid jumpers? I'll take a snap of one of those too when they come out of the washer and post it so you can see what they look like.

Nails are done, don't know why I don't wear this colour more often tbh (or the silvery grey one....I'm sure I saw an article about greys in In Style but not 100%). Just give them half hour to dry before I nip to the loo.....again ffs!!

Breaking the mid week Wine rule completely here...first the pub this morning for elevenses with dp and now a large one at home.

Control...was it you who asked about coats? the £25 primark pink one is in In Style too....they have it in navy and cream but NOT pink like I wanted in our Primark Hmm

Am not convinced those pore strips do anything much tbh, didn't look to be anything to see Confused It amused dp and the girls though! Grin

lucysmam · 19/09/2013 20:49

Dilidali I've just skimmed that article but bookmarked for the morning bus ride. Shock at J&J refusing to alter the formula...I assume they're the baby stuff people? Surely they should be up on all this stuff! Confused

Karbea · 19/09/2013 21:07

Just had a takeaway curry.
Current status...
Wore smelly gym kit till 4
Had shower, dressed in pjs and furry socks.
Toe nails long and red paint chipped.
Legs need epliating
Gel nails chipped
Didn't blow dry hair, just pulled it back in a pony.
Ate crap all day

Karbea · 19/09/2013 21:13

I actually prefer flannels, I love the £1 ones from primark.

Karbea · 19/09/2013 21:15

Has anyone seen the microfibre towels for dogs? I'd like one for my pup.

Karbea · 19/09/2013 21:17

Can I upload pictures just to the group or will they be visible to all my fb friends???

ControlGeek · 19/09/2013 21:22

karbea I think if you create a folder in the group's photos, and upload into there, that will only be visible to our group.

ControlGeek · 19/09/2013 21:23

Yup, just double checked, my last two pics are not visible from DP's FB account meaning they are only visible to the Group

justkeeponsmiling · 19/09/2013 21:23

geek I can't find the group either... I tried to search for operation renovation but only found a demolition company Blush Help!

My shred dvd has arrived, aaargh! No excuse now! Though might not do it in the morning as I have to leave at 06:30 for work. Are you supposed to do it every day? I'm dreading it!

I've also got "Instyle" for the elasticiser now, I truely hope I will hate it as I really can't afford to buy it but I know I will get it anyway as I love shiny new hair stuff

lucysmam · 19/09/2013 21:54

Control ....go through those instructions sloooooooooooooowly, once more! I'm not v. good at fb! Grin

lucysmam · 19/09/2013 21:56

justkeepon you have to at least take the wrapper off it!

I still haven't restarted it, really ought to though.

HelgatheHairy · 19/09/2013 22:06

karbea my TK Maxx always has loads of doggy stuff and I got his microfiber towel from there.

justkeeponsmiling · 19/09/2013 22:07

Lucy I did Grin ! I even opened the box and looked at the disc... but then closed it again quickly and put it in the draw. That woman looks fierce!!

Rummikub · 20/09/2013 00:12

Wow this thread moves fast. Still keeping up with my iron tablets, took them with orange juice today as heard that aids absorbtion. I keep finding countless vitamin tablets that I didn't take so have quite a stash. I am also using up all the products I have bought previously and never used because I didn't give myself time to do so I have so much body lotion it's ridiculous.

There used to be a thing where you could donate unwanted toiletries to homeless shelters. Might do that if I can find out how.

I am hoping to go out Saturday night and am going to start preparing now, so will file and varnish nails which I don't give myself time to do for a night out. And will exfoliate, de fuzz, moisturise so I will feel lovely!

CatAmongThePigeons · 20/09/2013 00:22

I'm remarking place before I lose tge thread. I've gone backwards. In nred of chivvying to sort myself out again

vvviola · 20/09/2013 01:01

Quick update on yesterday:

Decided on black & white dress, with long grey cardigan to hide lumps & bumps, with knee high black suede boots. Actually felt quite presentable.

Decided against makeup except tinted moisturiser and lip gloss as I figured I'd look way too formal. Was a good decision as I blubbed after dropping DD2 to crèche (first day in toddler room). Scraped hair back into bun. Not very flattering but managed to look a bit neat.

And conversation with lecturer went very well. She's lovely really, but just seems so polished that I was a bit intimidated.

Switched from hot cloth cleanser (was using a no7 one) to using a lighter cleanser cream which I wash off with a warm facecloth. My face feels much better. I might keep the hot cloth one for occasional use.

Today I'm a bit scruffy again as I was leading the walking school bus so didn't have much time to get ready. But I have moisturised, done a very quick defuzz & have done a bit of exercise (25 minutes slow stroll with the kids, 10 minutes power walk pushing buggy on way back Grin)
