Queen I find a nice cake goes down well. Did you know her father? If yes, then a card with a little recollection written in it or if you only know what she has told you then recount that. I find people are often insatiable for hearing peoples memories and/or talking about it. I really appreciated the cards I got because everybody focused upon my StepM and kind of forgot about his three children. Flowers are always lovely. Always. Or a plant for her garden because it will always resonate with her whenever she sees it. My StepD bought me an Orchid. It has been in flower since my father died last July when she gave it to me. The blooms are only just starting to fade.

Off out now but back later to talk fashion. Off down t'shops.....

foxysocks · 26/06/2013 12:41

A cake or flowers both great ideas. Your poor friend QueenC.

Of course liberty - will let you know how I get on.

QueenCadbury · 26/06/2013 12:43

Thanks guys. She only lives down the road so I might get baking and buy some flowers too!

Anyone got dry curly hair prone to matting??? I've just started a thread as I need help dealing with dd hair!

OP posts:
GwendolynMoon · 26/06/2013 13:10

Alas that describes my hair perfectly queen and it is long (down to shoulder blades). What works for me is a) using a tangle teaser brush (from Boots) which doesn't seem to do anything when you start brushing but knots do disappear and b) I use extra-virgin coconut oil as a hair masque about once a week and that keeps things under control. Just about.

GwendolynMoon · 26/06/2013 13:17

Oh and in terms of shampoo and conditioner try the Tantrum Coconut range, you can get it from Ocado

www.ocado.com/webshop/product/Tantrum-My-Clever-Coconut-Shampoo/70870011

I use it on my hair quite often and it's great. Tantrum also do a detangling spray which I haven't used but might be worth a try?

libertychick · 26/06/2013 13:19

QueenC I responded to the curly question on that thread.

Sorry Gwen having been meaning to say hello and welcome for about 3 days...Smile

shopafrolic · 26/06/2013 14:00

Hi QueenC when my friend's mum passed away we sent flowers. The florist included Rosemary sprigs which signify remembrance.

shopafrolic · 26/06/2013 14:17

In Wimbledon news the guy who beat Nadal (Darcis) has had to pull out of the tournament with a shoulder injury. He must be so gutted!

foxysocks · 26/06/2013 14:23

I just saw that too shop. how sad for him. did you see the hewitt match?! I LOVE that guy who beat him! he was tremaze.

shopafrolic · 26/06/2013 14:26

Nope, just caught him crying at the end! Will have to catch up tonight. Have a friend and her two children round today while her house is being packed up ready to move so it's a little too chaotic to sit for long! Am recording the highlights show though.....

foxysocks · 26/06/2013 14:48

ok won't mention any more results on here, that way you can enjoy highlights later. go murray! xx

LinusDKD · 26/06/2013 15:25

I think flowers are a nice idea and definitely some food whether it's a cake or a casserole or a quiche. At times like that people often forget to cook or don't feel like it and something they can just heat up will be very welcome.

Liberty of course you get second dibs on the breton.

With my J Crew order I got a 20 % off voucher to give to a friend. I'm not sure it's a code that works just once, but it's FRIEND15 and it's valid until 30/06/2013.

Drywhiteplease · 26/06/2013 16:06

Foxy Grin .....yeeeees it's love.
Took her out for lunch, sat outside in the sun!!!! my friend (who carries a handbag hook so she doesn't need to put her bag on the floor. !) said "oh put her on the floor" Shock..... I was a bit like shop's Chanel lady! "The floor, are you kidding?(disdainful look down nose) "she needs a chair!" Grin. Shortly after we shocked the nice young waiter by producing a dildo apologies to the faint hearted shaped wrapped birthday present. Didn't know it was possible to make a scarf look like that.....cue shrieking and death stares from other diners, v posh here dont you know,no suggestive jokes.....waiter Blush Will stop now.......I'm getting boring!

QueenC flowers and cake really nice, cake shows you've made an effort and always goes down well.

santamarianovella · 26/06/2013 16:22

linus i agree food,is a great idea, cooking is the last thing on your mind when you are in grief.flowers are a great option too.

DH and i are going out tonight and im gonna wear james perse black dress with zanotti gold caged sandals, and my oldie but a goodie miu miu clutch, its our first date night in months!

QueenCadbury · 26/06/2013 16:25

Grin at dry!

OP posts:
shopafrolic · 26/06/2013 16:57

shopafrolic · 26/06/2013 16:58

Santa Have a wonderful evening - your outfit sounds fabulous

MarshaBrady · 26/06/2013 17:02

QueenC your poor friend, yes to baking and flowers, I'm sure anything which shows you are thinking of her will be nice.

Dry lol! That is so funny Grin. I'd be the same. The floor Shock!

Santa fabulous outfit, love it, have a great time.

I have various cc things still in place, ds1 picked up from school and dropped back, early morning nursery so can do breakfast with dh. I must say it's rather nice Wink.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 26/06/2013 17:07

Grin shop

Santa agree - dressed to kill. I (heart) Miu Miu - have a fab evening.

DSis has finally delivered! I have a new nephew named Benjamin - thought she'd have a boy, don't know why. Now I can finally buy delicious baby pressies! Hope to get to London to visit her on Saturday, although on duty at Doncaster races Sat evening, so another busy weekend in store.

Off to DD's choir recital this evening at school too. One day I'd like to just stay in bed all day and do nothing. Dreamy.

Sleepwhenidie · 26/06/2013 17:36

Surely you mean nothing except browse NAP and the like and chat to us Grumpy Wink

shopafrolic · 26/06/2013 17:37

Congratulations AuntyGrumpy !!!! Wine

Drywhiteplease · 26/06/2013 18:12

Adopt Patrick Swayse voice....."Nobody puts nancy on the floor" Grin

Congrats grumpy

OneLittleLady · 26/06/2013 18:17

Congrats grumpy

mignonette · 26/06/2013 18:30

santa* that outfit does sound wonderful especially the sandals....Love gold...Happy date!

Foxy My son had two 'pet' feathers that he carried around in a pillowcase named Soggy and Betty. I accidentally hoovered them up Grin...

Am laughing at the bag and floor situation. Who remembers who it was that said a chic woman should carry her furs/bag insouciently as if they were a cloth coat yet carry a cloth coat as carefully as one would a fur? Was it in that 80's blockbuster 'Lace'?

Grumpy congratualtions on new Nephew. Am browsing Bodie&Fou on your nephews behalf. Some gorgeous baby stuff there. They are on pin too.

This evening I am wearing old Kurt Geiger black cage heeled sandals, a red and white Ralph Lauren skirt (TK Maxx, twelve quid), an off white opaque Prada T shirt belonging to DH (tight on him) and an Ochre wool Autograph cardigan. And black tights...BLACK TIGHTS IN LATE JUNE!
