Dry its okay but it looks like one of my work dresses!Grin

Decameron · 03/07/2013 20:39

Thinking of you and your little niece, Mignonette.

Lovely dresses, Linus and Dry. I bought this from the archive sale. Guess I'll just have to fork out full price for the ruched skirt and zip leggings. They told me that they are not seasonal so probably won't go on sale.

BrandyAlexander · 03/07/2013 20:39

Second the hugs to Mig.

I have got a public speaking thing tomorrow. It's taken me all bloody day to write the 40 minute speech and I haven't even moved on to thinking of my outfit yet! Aargh!

Drywhiteplease · 03/07/2013 20:42

Just above the knee....will leave it in the bag for a bit. Novice I could wear it to work!

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 03/07/2013 20:43

Mig don't even think about it. Considering most of us have never met, it's so nice to hang out with such a lovely bunch and I think we're all feeling for you now.

Paris thanks so much for all the tips - can't wait to discover all these new places now! Will definitely check every last one out as I've seen so little of Nottingham.

Nice dress Dry and a great price. Will take you all over the country on holiday, let's just hope we eventually get some summer weather to go with it.

J Crew panama arrived today and is fab, although haven't tried it on with the earrings yet Wink. Also got ridiculously excited to go into local Boots today and discover they stocked the limited edition Lancôme Alber Elbaz collection, so treated myself to the Hypnose Doll Eyes eye shadow and the Drama mascara

mignonette · 03/07/2013 20:44

You'll have to post your options Novice....Would welcome the discussion if you are up to it.

Great authoritative shoes are my first suggestion that won't cripple you either........

santamarianovella · 03/07/2013 20:47

mig praying for your little niece and her mum,and we are all here for you,

dry i your hesitant then send it back, but if you need a summery dress then it could be useful !

dec thats a lovely dress.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 03/07/2013 20:51

Dec I love the zip leggings from Me&Em, but am hesitant to fork out £135 for a pair of leggings, however flattering they look.

Bet I change my mind soon though Grin

mignonette · 03/07/2013 20:52

Grumpy I saw that Elbaz collaboration in the beauty press and thought it looked like another fantastic design from Lancome. I liked the Warhol NARS too and bought DD the MAC Cruella De Vil eyeshadows and mascara from last year/year before.

Dry wear that White Co dress with tan, silver or gold sandals either wedge or block heeled or flat, unbutton the bottom buttons if it has them (cannot quite see) or the top fastenings, add bright bag and you have real Cote D'Azure luncheon glamour. Chic, understated and timeless.

Metallic neons would look super fresh with it too. Can you fasten a bright ribbon around the waist too? Or attach beads/feathers/raffia tassels from V W Rouleaux to the waist drawstring? So much can be done with these dresses. I adore them and even wear them over cigarette pants/jeans/leggings. A long sleeve skinny T in a bright, metallic or earth colour worn underneath in Winter too?

Drywhiteplease · 03/07/2013 20:57

Ooooh Mig "Cote D'Azur" chic....now you're talking, who'd have known my quiet little White Co sale dress could look so......Mediterrenean! Wink........if I undo the buttons I will be showing a tantalising bit of balconette, très ou la la!!

LinusDKD · 03/07/2013 20:57

dry I think it's a very useful holiday dress, especially for sightseeing. Comfortable but not 'touristy'.

decam I love that dress but I would make my hips look huge.

Grumpy such a lovely hat. I have a few hats but I usually feel too self conscious to wear them. Oh, and they always end up getting squished in my luggage.

BrandyAlexander · 03/07/2013 20:58

Hmmm well I will be wearing tights if I wear a dress!

I agree on the shoes. I wear 3.5"/4" heels and I have this recurring day mare that as I walk on stage I trip.BlushBlush

Okay option 1 is a fenn wright Manson dress. It's silk brocade in gold and navy blue, 3/4 length dress with a matching jacket. I would wear RB suede navy pumps with it. Sorry dress is old so can't link.

Option 2 is the pink maxmara dress I just bought. Hhmm pink not serious enough? I would wear with caged sandalsGrin

Option 3: rare trouser suit appearance. With orange top. this is the black version

Ooh or this dress with the atwoods.

Ps dry glad you're not offendedGrin

MarshaBrady · 03/07/2013 21:04

Inspired by Decam's pretty dress and Dry's Cote D'Azur look and Mignon's styling what do people think of this Me&Em?

What is Lyocell and why is it named tunic? Surely it can be classed as a dress? I've never bought a tunic before nor from Me&Em.

But it could be easy to wear.

BrandyAlexander · 03/07/2013 21:05

Marsha, I think you would look lovely in it. Am too short for it!

mignonette · 03/07/2013 21:06

I like the brights option. You will focus their attention and it shows confidence, a strong sense of self and style. The Atwoods make you feel fabulous don't they? Well that will be reflected in your speech.

I think Brights are not just for evening/casual. They can look very very sharp. I like the sound of the brocade too-very current.

MarshaBrady · 03/07/2013 21:06

Linus love those dresses too.

Novice hang on what's the pink dress did I miss it?! Grin

MarshaBrady · 03/07/2013 21:07

And one last question, is there a Me&Em free delivery code hanging about?

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 03/07/2013 21:08

Has anyone looked at The Pink Peonies today? I want everything she has linked to, especially this little beauty

Drywhiteplease · 03/07/2013 21:09

Marsha ahh fabrics and fibres....my forte! Grin lyocel is a lot like viscose in its composition I.e it's a man made fabric but made from natural Things ( viscose if i remember rightly is made from wood pulp) it's not plastic so is breathe able and not clammy like polyester/nylon. Tencel is similar I believe. It has lovely drapey qualities too.

santamarianovella · 03/07/2013 21:11

im loving mig styling tips and that exactly what you would see in antibes or st tropez.

marsha that a dress for sure,a pretty one in fact, lovely color.

mignonette · 03/07/2013 21:14

Lyocell has all the properties of natural fibres whilst being made from processed wood pulp. It is an eco type fabric Marsha and I really like that soft lilac. I wish I could wear that lovely Halston-y belted look but I'm too short waisted and I also fiddle with my clothing too much and would never leave that waistline alone. That tunic/dress will again go over shorts, slim pants and bare legs. High heels for evening, flatter for day. But i would maybe pair it with a brogue again in a metallic?

It is a lovely cool shade of lilac from the pictures. Reminds me of some of the catwalk shades like this and this. All these beautiful milky, cool pastels.

BrandyAlexander · 03/07/2013 21:14

Hmmm think you're right Mig, I wore the orange dress with the Atwoods in the States and I did feel super stylish in them. The brocade hasn't gets worn about once a year but its lovely. I may go with that simply because I haven't worn it. I am trying to wear more things out of my wardrobe. Hhmm ponder ponder!

BrandyAlexander · 03/07/2013 21:23

No flies on you MarshaGrinGrin it's this maxmara it may have slipped in the Selfridges basket. Ahem. I am glad I can't come shopping! Dh will notice my massive credit card bill at some point that I have secretly stuffed on my credit card (he opens the statements as I am too lazy to do soBlush) so it would be good if I didn't come home with more bags!

mignonette · 03/07/2013 21:24

That's a good reason to try the Brocade Novice. Every now and again i will try on a style/colour that I have always seen as 'not for me'. Sometimes I end up having a good laugh at my reflection (Palazzo pants which made me resemble a woman on a hen night pretending to be a belly dancer) sometimes I get a pleasant shock (Strapless bandeau).

I love Brian Atwood. I want a pair alongside a pair of Kirkwoods and Eperlai's. I have a pair of Sophia Webster dancing heels and the new Caroline Issa collaboration shoes are a party on your feet here and here

Aren't they bright?

mignonette · 03/07/2013 21:26

God Novice that is a perfect dress. What a bargain. I have some MaxMara and SportsMax- a black rain coat Crombie style by the latter and some camel colour separates by the former but nothing so lively and pretty.
