Welcome Torquoise there is always room for one more!!

mignonette · 01/07/2013 11:06

Good Morning TurquoiseBlue

Lovely to finally 'meet' you. We're always glad of more people to shoot the fashion breeze with.

Are you on Pinterest and if yes, what is your name on it?

Parisisalwaysagoodidea · 01/07/2013 11:07

I have been absent due to work. I hate how it gets in the way of my fantasy shopping life!

So much to comment on I wouldn't know where to start so in future I will try and read the thread a couple of times a day to keep up. Then I won't feel really rude for forgetting stuff.

DH and I have booked flights for our trip in dec/jan. So far we are flying to Hong Kong on boxing day and flying back home from Bangkok about 3 weeks later. In between we are looking at either El Nido and Borocay (Sp?) in the Phillipines or the Gilli Islands in Indonesia and somewhere in Thailand. We wanted to go to Kao Tao but looks like it's rainy season there when we go Sad

I Have completed my holiday clothes shopping apart from bikinis. My summer wardrobe consisted of some sandals and one pair of denim shorts. I agree with those who don't buy summer clothes but 3 weeks in S.E. Asia calls for some I think!

I won't include everything, v boring but I bought the majority of my holiday clothes in Primark, I spent £28! 3 pairs of silky shorts in black, fuchsia and leopard print, 2 silky vest tops in black and white and a size 18 drapey t shirt with an open back that ties in a knot at the back, in grey.

A white cotton kaftan/dress thing with neon pink embroidery from TK Maxx (can't find link)

Kimono 1

Kimono 2 Both look beautiful IRL

H&M:
The one on the left. Only £9 in the sale. I thinks it looks much more expensive than that.

This top. Thanks to whoever linked!

This dress

Other, non holiday stuff I picked up in the sales includes

These sandals finally! I have been after these since they came out but don't really need them. Found them in my local Zara sale for £39.99. last pair and in my size, it was fate! Wearing them at the mo to check for pressure points before I wear them at the weekend.

Half price necklace

Finally, The reason why I bought cheapo stuff is so I could afford these beauties!. Also the reason why I had the Revolve clothing panic on saturday (all sorted now, thanks to those who advised).

Wow, long post sorry! Spending ban til autumn for sure!

Parisisalwaysagoodidea · 01/07/2013 11:10

Hi Turqoise. Jump in!

mignonette · 01/07/2013 11:16

Those kimono's are beautiful Paris. I would love to go to the Phillipines. Like Malaysia, one of the lesser known Far East destinations.

QueenCadbury · 01/07/2013 12:01

Morning all! I go for one night away and come back to goodness knows how many posts! I haven't had a chance to click on all the links otherwise I'd be here all day. Just had to take my cat to the vets and it looks like she has another cancerous breast lump Sad. We just need to decide whether to operate again or not as she was so unhappy wearing the collar for 10 days last time.

I'm a bit late joining in with the holiday/travel talk but we're off to Cornwall for a week in August. Just hoping it'll be nice weather. Then in October half term we're off to euro disney. We went to NZ and Langkawi (Malaysian island) for our honeymoon. Absolutely loved NZ and if we hadn't just bought a house and cats and didn't want babies straight away we definately would have gone out there to work for a year or 2 but it just wasn't the right time. Langkawi was fab although after travelling round NZ we literally just lazed by the pool and beach for the 5 days (although the tsunami hit whilst we were there but luckily no damage/injuries although some people lost belongings which were swept away by the sea). I spent a few weeks years ago in Sydney too when I did my elective placement and loved that too although wouldn't want to live there.

Anyway, I'd better get off t'internet but would just like to say hello to turquoise and to ask anni if you truly love any of the coats/cardigans?

I'm gong to be needing your help later to decide what to wear for a christening on Sunday. Am thinking I may need new shoes. Will post later.

Poor QueenC 's cat. Hope all is ok.

Love going out for a bit and then finding a delurker. Welcome Turquoise I love the CV - it saves me asking you loads of questions and looking like a nutter but YY are you on Pin? Stick around - it's a nice, safe, fun place to be.
Anni I don't get the impression you love any of those coats enough to keep them. But, if I had to go for one I'd stick with coat number 2.
Mig my Dad goes into anaphylactic shock if he gets stung - no fun trying to haul a 6ft5 man into the recovery position! That allotment is a dangerous place to be! I'll stick to my little veg garden....
I've been naughty again - should I confess?
Oh, and I missed bloody DHL with my necklaces.

shopafrolic · 01/07/2013 12:47

Nice shopping Paris love the second kimono and the bikini, and the Mango necklace is a beaut. What will you wear with the Revolve sandals?

QueenCadbury · 01/07/2013 12:53

Ooh, shop do tell...

Just popping back to ask if any of you have age spots of your face? I've got one just near my eye that developed last summer and then disappeared but has reappeared now due to sun exposure. My moisturiser has factor 15 in so I'm guessing I should go for a total sunblock on my face or on this one area. Anyone got any recommendations?

OP posts:
shopafrolic · 01/07/2013 12:54

Love the way she's wearing the Equipment shirt I tried on....
www.cocochicblog.co.uk/post/54239805543/outfit-summer-fling

shopafrolic · 01/07/2013 12:56

Factor 50 or sunblock QueenC - I have two areas of pigmentation from too much sun in my twenties whilst on the pill. My beautician friend says I should be putting factor 50 on them.......

shopafrolic · 01/07/2013 13:15

So I decided against the Hudsons - I don't think I'm ready for bootcuts yet - however baby they are. And I decided that whilst they are super flattering around the waist and bum, I didn't like the pockets and buttons on the back, so I put them back..... and bought these super soft beauties Current Elliott

This fell into my bag for £20 because you can never have enough grey sweats right?

And I bought another AV Tom sweat in a peach colour.

shopafrolic · 01/07/2013 13:46

Anni have PMd you

Parisisalwaysagoodidea · 01/07/2013 13:47

Mig The kimonos are far more bautiful IRL, the photos don't really do them justice, esp the blue one. I wore it with a black wrap blouse and the zara skort to a wedding reception and I felt great, makes such a difference to plain basics. I haven't worn the black one yet. It's longer so I think I'll wear it with denim shorts and t shirt in the day and a black slip dress for evening. Yy to the Philippines. I'm leaning towards going there over Indonesia. My friends who live in HK and go to places like this for 'minibreaks' Envy like the Philippines the best.

Fingers crossed and kisses for QueenC's cat. Would love to go to Langkawi but wrong time of year when we're going (boo!) Love cornwall too. Where abouts are you going there? Also want in on the christening outfit chat!

Confess Shop. I told about the 'Elvis, the Vegas years' shoes from Revolve! Speaking of the Vegas shoes. I will wear them with everything! 95% of my wardrobe is black, white and grey. Lots of skinnies, minis, blouses, plain t shirts, sweaters and blazers. I look to my shoes for originality in my outfits alongside textures such as denim, leather and embroidery. Outfits with the vegas shoes that immediately came to mind were slouchy, pale wash, denim shorts and a white silk shirt, black leather mini and black slouchy, roll slevved t shirt, pale grey skinnies with ankle zips and black wrap blouse. They really will go with anything though!

The Mango necklace was about £15 in the sale and hasn't turned my neck green yet and I have worn it 5 or 6 times.

Also love that shirt on the blog! I have some flared indigo jeans. They look great but hardly ever wear them. The CE's look lovely.

foxysocks · 01/07/2013 14:20

ohhhh I want that grey sweat shop! what's the sizing like? is it waist or hip length on you (think we are the same height-ish)

santamarianovella · 01/07/2013 14:23

Hello all,
welcome turquoise ,as you know we all love newbies, would love to have a look at you boards,

shop that grey top is lovely and at a great price, and i refuse to wear bootcuts no matter what others say!

paris lovely JC sandals, and your shopping looks perfect for your trip.

ani def no 2.

dec gorgeous top,

mrs R i love iro, they had lovely trousers at matches.

novice enjoy wimbledon

marsha yes i hope the weather is great on sat,i have my outfit all planned with other options incase i change my mind !

mig your poor dh,hope he is ok now,my dad was given a book by an american colleague about the backroads of america , lovely photos of all the small towns, with their main streets, and some really breathtaking photos of utah, santa fe ,montana, wyoming . would love to go on a trip and see all these places.they look untainted by masses of tourists.

linus there are lots of easy courses that you can take, its important to choose the right size of furniture for the right room, and its much easier to choose one piece of furniture that you like and work from there. the decorator i worked for has an amazing eye,she will look at a room and have a complete vision by the time we go back to the office!.

Parisisalwaysagoodidea · 01/07/2013 14:37

Santa That book sounds amazing. Can you remember what it's called?

MrsRadicchio · 01/07/2013 14:58

Just putting links from AR shop:

french sole

shop I think you liked these throusers?

Lovely shopping Paris - I like your style (based on your pin). Love those zara sandals though I have given up on heels now. Admire them on others!

Liberty I haven't been v strict with project 333 so I have included tops, bottoms, shoes and coverups (cardigans/light jackets). At the moment I pretty much only look after the DCs so it was easy enough to do. Think it would be hard to include work / going out clothes too. But I did it as I have a lot of unworn clothes in my wardrobe so trying to give them an airing. Also trying to figure out what I can prune (some stuff has gone already). I have been doing it a month and may do another round when autumn begins. I feel like I much prefer my autumn / winter clothes than summer ones.

I love the Me and Em stuff Amber linked to on her blog. I think I will get some stuff when I go back to work.

Shop I didn't know you had that equipment shirt - is it a recent purchase?

Anni I know I was pro the leather armed jacket (the only one who was) but I think Liberty's idea of returning all and then buying something you really love could be a good one. You could get something lovely from the new season.

I have copied you Anni and did a search of premium denim on ebay - have a pair of £5 goldsigns winging their way to me. I think they may be a bit on the snug side but hope the 30% elastane does its job. I am also bidding on a pair of paige white bootcuts!

QueenC sorry to hear about your cat. Hope the news from the vet is positive.

mignonette · 01/07/2013 15:01

Queen Love to you and your cat. We are teetering on the edge of getting another rescue cat. Have found an enormous hairy male that thinks he is a dog at a shelter but am scared of any more bad things happening...Sad

I use Clinique City Block and have done since the late 90's. I don't have any pigmentation yet so whether that means it works or i'm just not prone to it, I cannot say. What i can say is that I like the slightly pharmaceutical tube design, its ease of application and portability and the fact that it feels like a layer of insulation on my face on cold wind-chap days.

shopafrolic · 01/07/2013 15:15

Hey MrsR I tried the Equipment shirt and linked it from my DR visit on Saturday. Didn't buy but loved it.
Foxy The top is quite boxy in shape. The front is shorter than the back seam. But it sits on the widest point of my hips. I'm a 12/14 - the medium did fit but I sized up to a large to make it a bit more roomy.

shopafrolic · 01/07/2013 15:17

MrsR my memory - made bad from a decade of clubbing - can't recall linking those trousers but I do love them!

mignonette · 01/07/2013 15:50

Shop Wink at clubbers memory.....

Annianni · 01/07/2013 15:54

I've lost an earlier post...

Thanks Shop but it's not my style.

Love those cardi's Liberty, but I can't wear black or creamy colours.
I'm better in navy, grey and some greens.

You are all right, I look like a dick in jacket number 1 and I'll return it tomorrow.

Need to decide if jacket number2 is nice and slouchy or just too big.
There's no size 14's in stock anywhere though, so I can't get another Sad

The Whistles zip jacket came today and it's gone straight back.
It is lovely like Liberty said, but the hem is across my widest point of my tum and doesn't look good.

Gap order's mostly gone back too... the jeans were huge, just kept a white tee and a neon vest.

Love the woolly monstrosity but will decide in the morning.

Might put myself on a shopping ban for a few weeks, apart from the ongoing boot search :o

Annianni · 01/07/2013 15:55

Finger's crossed for Qc's cat xx

Did I say welcome to Turquoise?
Hello anyway...

Parisisalwaysagoodidea · 01/07/2013 16:03

MrsR Do you have a Pinterest board with your project 333 stuff on? Glad you like my pin boards Grin.

The Zara shoes are not as tricky to wear as they look, though I am ok in heels up to 5 inches as long as they don't have a platform. I end up on my arse or nearly breaking my ankles in platforms. Thankfully, high platform heels seemed to have had their day for now. Thanks cast of TOWIE!

Mig Hairy bloke cat sounds fab!

Shop I always buy tops in larger sizes. Latest buys include a size 14/16 and a size 18. Lol and nudge at clubbers memory. I have that. It goes perfectly with DH's drummers deafness.

Tennis is very exciting today, when Sabine Lisicki was being interviewed after beating Serena Williams she burst into tears and so did I!
