What do you think to this hat / fascinator thingy?

I'm trying to put together accessories for SILs wedding later this year. I'm already stressing - my DDs are bridesmaids and I'm doing a reading so will be on display.

I've got this Phase Eight dress which I'm already doubting as its hard to match colour-wise. I'd prefer to go for soft grey accessories & shoes. Pink seems too obvious.

I've seen this rose fascinator which can be made in grey. Opinions and alternatives would be gratefully received!

What's is yr budget for hat bag and shoes? I don't think you need any jewellery. A simple pendant and stud earrings would do.

I'm a hat girl, so I'll start there

Hair is v blonde, fringe & bob. Almost 60's style. Quite fine, but lots of it. I need a band or hat, a comb won't stay put.

Budget for both - I can go to about £200 but would prefer less.

I like the shape but its too big. I'm 5' 2" and very petite, so is be all hat :)

I realise I am linking taupe with a grey hat, but I think you could get away with it.

I'm 5"0 and have carried off a very similar hat no probs! It's light, and its only really covering half your head.

I could carry on looking, if you want, ds is sleeping and I have nothing else to do!

With short hair I would avoid the little pill box style hats. To hattinators as I have just found out they are called!

Dress is lovely. I prefer the hat to the fascinator but I look silly in fascinators and love hats!!

I've never worn a hat, other than with a uniform!

No it was a grey fascinator.

I was thinking grey for accessories. SIL is having a lot of pink so wanted to be a little different.

I'm going to go against the grain and say I think you need a strong colour for your hat and shoes. I think you are going to look very washed out/wishy washy otherwise, especially as you are blonde.

Good point about being washed out. The picture of the dress doesn't show the colours particularly well. It's a vintage rose kind of pink, and the grey fades from dark to very light.

I'd actually go for the colour in the picture to emphasise the pinky bits in the dress.

You are quite limited though for colour. Unless y wanted to go for pink, which you want to avoid.

I think I would go gun metal grey, as a contrast. I'm googling to see if I can find those lk b shoes somewhere else. What size are you?

Pink hat (nod at the wedding theme without going all in) then grey shoes and bag. I'm a believer that not all accessories have to match top to toe.
