I love Monsoon, it's my favourite shop. But I'm more of a George at Asda or Primark sort of girl - I don't like spending too much on clothes.

However my lovely DH always gives me Monsoon vouchers for birthdays and Christmas so I've collected quite a few pieces now - guilt-free!

Pinotmum · 24/05/2006 18:39

I bought my first ever Monsoon item about 1 month ago and it was £28.00 which I thought was good for them. It's a wrap blouse with an ecru/black pattern on it. SOme of the stuff is v. expensive though.

cupcakes · 24/05/2006 18:40

expensive?

I bought a white floaty shirt thing last summer and a few weeks later it was in the sale with 70% off. Angry I thought that it would sell out in my size by the sale but typically they had loads left.

Monsoon is going the way of the rest - high street! Went in with dd not long ago and was shocked at prices for the quality of the item.

When Next first started they did some fabbo, excellent quality stuff, now its just crapola.

anorak · 24/05/2006 18:42

oops that link goes to the home page sorry. It's the bea cardi.

JoolsToo · 24/05/2006 18:44

that said - that cardigan is lovely! Grin

I agree Next is rubbish. I suppose it's ok if you want work stuff but for anything else it's as though it takes what's fashionable at the moment and f's it up.

cupcakes · 24/05/2006 18:47

Next are a lot cheaper now. I bought maternity trousers and a t-shirt there last week for £20.
Normally don't like them though. Most things look cheap and are too ubiquitous.

Orlando · 24/05/2006 18:51

I opened a monsoon account card when I was pg (for all the floaty tops) because if you pay on the card and the stuff is reduced within 100 days in a sale you get the money refunded.

Hence, velvet jacket bought for £115 on December 1st-- down to £37.50 in Jan sale.

laura ashley do a similar thing but you have to pay an extra premium on the card every month. Plus it doesn't apply if you bought it with money off initially - which it is easy to do in LA as they always have some offer on.

Orlando · 24/05/2006 18:55

Ah-- not sure they still offer it Fio. Girl told me they were phasing it out, tho maybe they're still doing it atm. Apparently they can't take it away from people who already have it (or must give plenty notice?) but aren't going to offer it new card holders.

cupcakes · 24/05/2006 18:56

you can do it in Gap as well - but only for 14 days. But you don't need to have an account with them.

tamum · 24/05/2006 19:05

Monsoon sales are fantastic for children's clothes- it gets down to H&M prices for fab stuff. Cod, there's a Monsoon sale shop in Clarks shopping village, which can't be that far from you....
