I bought my first things from monsoon this year too (am 35). I prefer to think that it has become stylish rather than me being past it...

littlerach · 24/05/2006 19:12

Tamum, I've been there a few times but it is hit and miss.

I love Monsoon, I spent too much in the Salisbury one a few weeks ago, the staff were v nice to me, lol.

Pruni · 24/05/2006 19:14

Monwsoon stuff refuses to fit me. I am not an odd shape, really, but everything seems to look crap on me.
Agree about the sales for kids' clothes. I go once or twice a year and stock up for the following year. DS v well-dressed, occasionally.

cod · 24/05/2006 19:17

ah you see lr

so when is the sale

tamum · 24/05/2006 19:21

I;ve been many times too littlerach :) Yes, it's a bit hit and miss but worth a look if you're heading in that direction.

Piffle · 24/05/2006 19:21

I dig Monsoon tops and the odd skirt, the tops are great for bigger ahem busted ladies
As I sit here I have a green monsoon top on and a blue woollen Monsoon cardigan, I buy all my stuff in the sale though... Usually
Kids stuff I've really gone off it this year.

Pruni · 24/05/2006 19:23

Aha! Piffle that is why the tops never fit me: no norks to speak of. [resigned face]

FrannyandZooey · 24/05/2006 19:23

God I walk through Monsoon and salivate. It's the prints I like best I think, and the strokable fabrics. I really can't afford it though. Have never bought anything from there.

WelshBoris · 24/05/2006 19:24

look at the Dory Daisy Dupion dress in the baby girls section

DD HAS to have it Grin

Pruni · 24/05/2006 19:25

I used to have a disposable income.
(See debt thread.)
Now I just stoop and shuffle past with the pushchair.

MMn I agree about the kids stuff - I stock up for the next year. I'm glad that I'm not alone. :)

yomellamoHelly · 24/05/2006 19:30

Would love to waft around in Monsoon stuff - if only we weren't so broke. But when Trinny & Susannah finally decide to chuck £2,000 my way..... (spend many hours fantasising about the chance of a complete wardorbe overhaul)

cod · 24/05/2006 19:30

so is their sale huge?
and when?

( note monsoon vigin)

cupcakes · 24/05/2006 19:43

the sales are good. They do further reductions a couple of weeks in with up to 70% off.
They tend to be popular round here and are really busy.

Orlando · 24/05/2006 19:49

Start last week or so of July-- usually around the time the kids break up unfortunately, severely hampering shopping opportunities.

cod · 24/05/2006 19:49

so ame time as next then

OP posts:
cupcakes · 24/05/2006 19:52

yes, just twice a year, at reg sale times.

Socci · 24/05/2006 20:18

I have bought the odd thing from monsoon. I used to love the children's monsoon range when it first appeared but it seems to have gone over the top lately with ribbons and beads. It's a shame.

NomDePlume · 24/05/2006 20:20

I've got a few things from Monsoon, I find their size 12 fits me like a glove, and their jeans are a really flattering cut on me.

SoupDragon · 24/05/2006 20:21

Back in the heady pre-marriage days, DH gave me a Monsoon account card for Christmas with a monthly "allowance". By the end of the Christmas sales, I was up to July...

NomDePlume · 24/05/2006 20:21

I agree re ribbons and beads on kids stuff, socci.

mrsbang · 24/05/2006 20:26

Ah, Monsoon at Clark's, down that way next week, might have to visit.

What's the sizing like?

SoupDragon · 24/05/2006 21:00

Monsoon sizes tend to be on the generous side.

mrsbang · 24/05/2006 21:04

That was just what I wanted to hear, lol, thanks.
