Thanks for the link angry feet, that neckline does nothing for me but appreciate you taking the trouble. I own a similar dress but with a v neck and the quarter sleeves

What do you think op? Nice and cheap too!

BellaBearisWideAwake · 21/05/2013 19:44

Thank you, its very nice. That skirt shape doesn't work on me, from experience, unless it is more a line than it looks

I'm off put now but I appreciate all the feedback

I think it's frumpy- sorry. Too long, too shapeless.

This www.boden.co.uk/en-GB/Womens-Dresses/Above-Knee-Dresses/WH493-BLU/Womens-Lapis-Falling-Spot-Casual-Weekend-Dress.html is slightly less frumpsville IMO.

They also do a casual jersey dress with slightly longer sleeves if that's your style.

madmomma · 21/05/2013 19:58

I'd wear the red one with biker boots, bedroom hair and full make up. I like putting frumpy stuff on and then sexing it up. But then I may well look a twat.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/05/2013 20:11

Am liking, 'bedroom hair' btw. :) The Boden one is better, but still over-long imho.

This? I haven't seen it irl and their dresses can be hit and miss.

Spotty

Joules

Joules spotty

Not seen any of these irl btw, and really not sure about them but maybe a bit less frumpy?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/05/2013 20:13

Mad print but cotton and cheap and you like print!

Shorter, red and cotton

Arcadia · 21/05/2013 20:14

I have been thinking about getting the navy one myself, OP, so read your thread with interest! Quite surprised lots of people saying it is frumpy, I am 38 but a trendy young thing at work I showed it to asking her opinion said she liked it but was maybe just being polite!. I am imagining you have similar shape to me OP as that shape of dress really suits my pear shape figure (can get into a size 8 or 10 with that style dress even though my hips are a 12!).

I think it could look really lovely on, the blue one anyway. Seasalt is a very good brand I have some of their other stuff. Not sure myself now though...

SwedishEdith · 21/05/2013 20:16

Yes, madmomma, I agree on that's how I'd wear it and on possibly looking like a twat as well Don't be put off OP - if you can adjust the length to suit you they'll be lovely. Frumpiness is a state of mind

landofsoapandglory · 21/05/2013 20:16

teacherwith2kids what is the Mistral sizing like please?

NeoMaxiZoomDweebie · 21/05/2013 20:17

I think they'd look nice with a denim jacket. Smile

Shybairns · 21/05/2013 20:18

I'm 33 and I don't think they are frumpy. I think the red one is too long though. The blue one is a younger length.

DeafLeopard · 21/05/2013 20:22

teacher I like the look of mistral - what is the sizing like?

Jojay · 21/05/2013 20:25

I like the look of Mistral too - thank you Teacher Thanks

soaccidentprone · 21/05/2013 20:41

this?

or this?

this is pretty

or this?

teacherwith2kids · 21/05/2013 20:48

Mistral sizing is, IME, true to 'reasonable' sizing - ie it isn't vanity sizing, but nor is it tiny.

So I have always, for 10+ years, gone to size 12 as the 'default' sizing in clothes - sometimes had to step down to a 10, in the early days when sizing was smaller up to a 14. In M&S I am now more often a 10 as their sizing has changed.

In Mistral almost everything I buy in a 12, although I do have one or two 10s. Trousers are quite long IME, a very few dresses are tightish across the shoulders, but generally true to size.

Fairylea · 21/05/2013 20:49

I think they're both lovely. And not at all frumpy. Very tea dress ish which is quite in at the moment. And the midi length is very next season. So there.

takeaway2 · 21/05/2013 20:50

I like mistral a lot and sea salt too. I'd wear either of those dresses. Go for it! I'm perhaps not the most stylish person around but I get compliments regularly from my administrators...! So that's fine! Smile

Hadmeathello · 21/05/2013 21:59

Frumpalicious.

dementedma · 21/05/2013 22:07

Wow, I don't think they are frumpy at all, I'm just staggered that people have school run clothes!

dexter73 · 21/05/2013 22:17

dementedma - they aren't actually clothes just for the school run. It was a term coined back in the days of yore to mean a dress you could just throw on if you had been sat in a paddling pool all afternoon and need to change quickly before going to school.

SanityClause · 21/05/2013 22:24

I was going to say Frumparama, Hadme but you could be right.

dexter73 · 21/05/2013 22:43

I'm a pear and I have ordered this.
