I like the people tree dress in fact I like a lot of their clothes. I bought a cardigan of theirs years ago, loved it and wore it till it fell apart and also bought another a different colour!

I think the red is ok and it's saving grace is the length because it makes it look current midi length.

Might you consider this one. Midi length, sleeves, jersey. Better shape and style. I love it! here

I wish I could do red. I love that dress. Long isn't frumpy, it's practical. Saves hours of leg shaving and makes the dress much warmer. Perfect for school run first thing in the morning.

I have a seasalt tunic, which is Mummsy (also large for size), but it's long enough to let my size 26 bum out in leggings.

16 bum, I know it's big, but not that big.

I love the blue one.

piratecat · 21/05/2013 23:48

the blue one is nicest. the length of the red one was the frumpyness.

i wish i did dresses. never have, short, pear shaped etc... and never had the confidence to try, therefore think i look better nowhere near one. Hence they have never been on my radar, and i feel like a right girl in one.

YET, i feel i should try, somehow, with the biker boots and the mad arse hair. hmm...

soaccidentprone - thanks for having a look for me, that's nice of you. three of those dresses are too straight for my shape (believe me I've tried loads!) and the other doesn't have sleeves. But thanks for looking.

You'd wear that on the school run ubik? Wow Grin

Agree with the others the red one is too long. Blue one's ok though.

I love the red one. I couldn't wear it as I'm apple shaped but it has a lovely tea dress style to it. Grazia featured that style. I think it's a simple, no fuss thing to wear and pretty. Reminds me of the styling in Brora and the sort of thing Alys Fowler wears.

With respect to the second dress that is lovely too but I think the other colour way is nicer. Great styles though.

Nothing is more frumpy than skinny jeans/converse ( yawn) combination.

God no! I just thought it was rather lovely and someone thinner more glam than me might wear it.
I tend to wear jeans and t shirt Grin

Are you being punished?

Do people dress for the school run now? Who knew?

Well, I get dressed ... is it more of a naked thing where you are? Wink

dementedma - they aren't actually clothes just for the school run. It was a term coined back in the days of yore to mean a dress you could just throw on if you had been sat in a paddling pool all afternoon and need to change quickly before going to school.

I know what you mean with " dressing for the schoolrun", you mean something you can throw on, and still look nice ( or even like you made a bit of an effort). Much nicer than jeans and a fleece, IMO.

I am a dress person too! People " accuse" me of dressing up or looking too elegant ( ha!) but I find that throwing on a a dress and shoes is so wonderfully QUICK a way to dress.

Also, Like you I am cury ( not as a euphemism for fat, but curvy in the sense of significant waist- hip ratio) and dresses look nicer, and are way more comfy than jeans, imo.

To me, a simple dress means the perfect balance between comfort and style.

The dresses in the OP look like they might look a but frumpy, but you don't know until you try them on. Also, a classic dress this style can look cool with a fitted ( leather) jacket and ankle boots.

My best dresses are from Whitecompany ( plain but can be jazzed up with scarf and accessories), and also Joules. Joules can look frumpy on the hanger, but good on a curvy figure.

Peopletree winner too.

This is lovely on and will be one of my school run dresses. www.matalan.co.uk/mobile/product/detail/s2521448?id=S2521448&color=C419 Nice and fitted at the top which balances out the length (am 5'7 and it's just below the knee). Add a pendant and wedges. Am not spending too much as I live in Scotland and we only get a week of sun.

Lots of the linked dresse have round/ crew/ boat/ type necklines. Which is rubbish on me ( and maybe other bustier folk). I like the sea salt ones, if the length worked ok cos they have v necks, though they both look suspiciously empire line, which I personally do not suit! Thanks for the new places to look though!

BellaBearisWideAwake · 22/05/2013 16:07

I also do not suit round/ crew/ boat/ type necklines
