DH says these shoes are "effin' awful..." Are they ?

I very rarely get dressed up, live in jeans and tshirts /cardies and usually wear trainers, Converse or boots. I was looking for a casual flat shoe that wasn't too "mumsy" and that would go with the clothes I normally wear. Spotted these today in Schuh, asked DH his opinion and he nearly threw up on the spot. Are they really that bad....Fed up wearing trainers...don't know if I'm getting a bit old for them. I'm 38 btw...

Spotted what?

LIZS · 04/05/2013 15:07

link?

ArcticRoll · 04/05/2013 15:09

Need to link please-but 38 is not too old for trainers.

Fanjounchained · 04/05/2013 15:15

er , no !

ItsYonliMe · 04/05/2013 15:18

Well...they are certainly not the nicest looking shoes I've seen, but you say you normally wear trainers, so perhaps they are a step up from that.

Fanjounchained · 04/05/2013 15:20

LIZS - Is that no to the shoes I linked or to DH's suggestion...

Your DH is correct!

KelleStar · 04/05/2013 15:20

I have them Blush but in a royal blue, I quite luffs them. I also have the non-platform version in almost all colours.

Prawntoast · 04/05/2013 15:20

I'm with your DH on this, and you are not too old for trainers, looks at my 45 year old feet clad in trainers!

Hassled · 04/05/2013 15:21

I quite like your first ones - but not in the black. The red is nice.

Gigondas · 04/05/2013 15:21

Don't particularly like one you suggested - see no point in ones dh suggested as they are basically fancy trainers and you said you wanted a change.

The bit I don't like on shoes is button detail- rest of it ok.

Numberlock · 04/05/2013 15:21

Yes he's spot on, they're awful. But don't like his suggestion much either. How about a dessert boot or brogue?

Fanjounchained · 04/05/2013 15:22

Okay then....to those of you who agree with DH, show me an alternative. I have a budget of £40 (another reason I can't get the Adidas trainers...)

LIZS · 04/05/2013 15:23

First ones , but not sure about the trainers either tbh.

Fanjounchained · 04/05/2013 15:23

See your suggestions now..X-post. Shit....I hate it when he's right...

LIZS · 04/05/2013 15:23

Converse are doing ballerina pumps.

Fanjounchained · 04/05/2013 15:25

Are these any better ?

Yes agree with your dh-they are awful.Prefer his choice.

Fanjounchained · 04/05/2013 15:28

LIZS I've kind of gone off Converse to be honest. Last pair I got was at Xmas and the rubber lining is coming away at the sides. I have worn them a lot but would still have expected them to wear a bit better...

What's wrong with jeans, converse and a cardi? I don't mind the shoes particularly.

AngiBolen · 04/05/2013 15:30

They are awful.

ArcticRoll · 04/05/2013 15:32

What about pair of Superga-think they are better made than Converse?
