DH says these shoes are "effin' awful..." Are they ?

I very rarely get dressed up, live in jeans and tshirts /cardies and usually wear trainers, Converse or boots. I was looking for a casual flat shoe that wasn't too "mumsy" and that would go with the clothes I normally wear. Spotted these today in Schuh, asked DH his opinion and he nearly threw up on the spot. Are they really that bad....Fed up wearing trainers...don't know if I'm getting a bit old for them. I'm 38 btw...

Agnes - Just getting a bit fed up of with my Converse to be honest....

What about the boots that I linked ? Thinking I might get a bit more wear out of them..

How about these?

Gigondas · 04/05/2013 15:33

Not in summer and I am not keen on boots .

PavlovtheCat · 04/05/2013 15:33

Awful.

ArcticRoll · 04/05/2013 15:33

No think those boots are pretty awful too but agree you may get more wear out of them !

propertyNIGHTmareBEFOREXMAS · 04/05/2013 15:36

Dh's choice is far better than yours. Sorry! Grin

DontmindifIdo · 04/05/2013 15:36

DH is right. What about something like these ?

Topshop have a lot of flat shoes that are less fugly.

ArtemisCake · 04/05/2013 15:36

What about these I have some similar ones and they are v comfortable and look good.

Fanjounchained · 04/05/2013 15:36

Pavlov - lol.....

HootShoot I'm not really keen on those, sorry...I'm quite heavy on my feet and don't think they'd be terribly comfy...(God I do sound old...)

LulaPalooza · 04/05/2013 15:37

I'm sorry, Fanjo (and KelleStar) but I agree with your DH on both counts.

Am looking for alternatives... my first tip is stay away from Schuh! Don't like any of their flats in your price range. Will be back with alternatives.

SacreBlue · 04/05/2013 15:38

M&S have sale on flats atm, I quite like these www.marksandspencer.com/Footglove-Original-Leather-Cut-Out-Shoes/dp/B00AEGR9AY?ie=UTF8&ref=sr_1_9&nodeId=42967030&sr=1-9&qid=1367678028&pf_rd_r=0BNWJ4R4XP7CR0Z82V4S&pf_rd_m=A2BO0OYVBKIQJM&pf_rd_t=301&pf_rd_i=0&pf_rd_p=321381407&pf_rd_s=center-3

Not to be ageist but the ones you chose seem very old not at all in keeping with the vital springiness I imagine most mners to have :)

iworemyfringelikerogermcguinns · 04/05/2013 15:38

I had blowfish flats and the sole wore through in a few weeks. Rubbish if you don't drive everywhere.

ImTooHecsyForYourParty · 04/05/2013 15:39

They look comfortable to me. So do the ones he likes. I think either would do you just fine.

I have never understood the big deal about shoes. To me it is just something to put on your feet to allow you to walk comfortably. walking around on spikes or encased in fake fur or with points on the front that you could put a hole through a wall with? - no thanks ! Grin

Fanjounchained · 04/05/2013 15:39

DontmindifIdo - Really don't like them....

Artemis - Think there a bit too flat...I think I'm probably better with something with a slight heel or a wedge.

Holy fuck, how can someone link to footglove and call someone else's taste old?!

My 64YO mother would think footglove were for people older than her.

Fanjounchained · 04/05/2013 15:48

AKiss - I just snorted and bogeyed all over the laptop screen because of your comment....

Think I just have to accept that I have absolutely no style or taste (when it comes to my feet at least.)

Have a look at Clarks - hard wearing and they have some good styles now (I'm 30 and don't do 'mumsy' if I can avoid it). Some on this page might be good www.clarks.co.uk/c/womens-shoes#pagesize-is-200-and-page-is-1

AKissIsNotAContract · 04/05/2013 15:50

I actually quite like the first ones you linked to Fanjo, they look a bit rockabilly to me and not at all grannyish.

bigTillyMint · 04/05/2013 15:52

Your DH has better taste than you!
Those shoes look like budget school shoes!

starfishmummy · 04/05/2013 15:53

Mmmm. I am old and (obviously) not very stylish. I think the ones the op pkvked are the best ones!

starfishmummy · 04/05/2013 15:54

I also can't type.

*picked

Fanjounchained · 04/05/2013 15:55

starfishmummy...what age are you (if you don't mind me asking) Just so I can find out what my "shoe style age " is ?!

OP posts:
Geckoandthemonkey · 04/05/2013 15:56

Both shoes are 'effin awful'. Sorry.

AKissIsNotAContract · 04/05/2013 15:56

How about something like this
