Feminité is one of my absolute favourites.
It's not an easy one to like, and it's easy to dislike.

coffeeinbed · 16/05/2013 20:03

Haber, you probably already have, but do give CdG Tea a sniff.
Good smoke there!

Fuzzybirds · 16/05/2013 20:41

I have not yet tried FdB, but going to Cheltenham on Sat so I may be able to get a sniff in SpaceNK (plus I shall go a-bargain hunting in Savers and TKMaxx, can't wait!)

Wore the last of my sample of CdG 2 today, like it a lot but not sure if enough for a FB, although I love the leaky biro aspect!

ChocsAwayInMyGob · 16/05/2013 21:30

SOTD Miller Harris La Pluie. It's gorgeous and really does smell of rain without being ozonic and rubbish.

thecatfromjapan · 16/05/2013 21:57

Pocketandsweet,

I know you were asking for oregano but my dd and I were in Covent Garden, visited l'Artisan, and tried this: [www.artisanparfumeur.com/shop/perfumes/caligna.html?session_cookie=2badevxqa7pjt3tck8&ishop_technology= caligna]] .

I think you might like it. To me, it smells like Greece in the (full, afternoon) sun. Smile

thecatfromjapan · 16/05/2013 21:58

Drat McDrat.

caligna

thecatfromjapan · 16/05/2013 22:03

Actually, a lot of that smell I associate with Greece is wild oregano, I think. So now I'm doubly sure you;d like this.

We had a lovely time in l'Artisan. The young woman in the shop that day spent ages chatting to us both, and talking us through lots of perfumes. There was also a special "display" - what the heck is the olfactory equivalent of a display? - demonstrating the component parts of Caligna. It was a lot of fun.

Sadly, I'm hooked on florals, so C. is not for me. But it is a lovely, interesting scent.

Haberdashery · 16/05/2013 22:20

Haber, if you haven't done so yet, find a sample of Comme des Garcons Black somewhere.

Thanks for the tip.

Will also have a try of CdG Tea - thanks very much, coffee.

Caligna sounds interesting.

CointreauVersial · 16/05/2013 22:47

I have some body lotion (Champneys Citrus Glow) which I love the smell of, but haven't used much since I started this fragrance journey, as it tends to interfere with my perfume. I was therefore chuffed to find that one of the fragrances in the Les Senteurs Gourmands mini coffret I bought recently from M&S is a dead ringer for it. Vanille Pamplemousse is a lovely soft citrus with a creamy spicy basenote; perfect for a sunny day (when I want to get my legs out!). I smelled delicious all day, all over. Grin

OneLittleLady · 16/05/2013 23:03

My local M&S doesn't stock the things I want, I'm going to have to order them in to get them. I was looking forward to getting the gourmand minis but seems I will have to wait a little longer than I though Sad

Fuzzybirds · 17/05/2013 06:43

OLL I got my Senteurs Gourmandes minis from ebay- just had a search and you can still get them for £7-£8 including delivery.

pocketandsweet · 17/05/2013 07:09

Thanks catfromjapan. I am finally going to get a much postponed weekend to myself in London ( in a couple weeks barring any disasters). I am planning to go to both Les Scenteurs and L'A P. I will check out Caligna and probably finally succumb to purchasing a full bottle of PF Extreme. I'm justifying it on the basis that it looks as though we are going to be moving continents :) and :( . I suppose it will give me the opportunity to check out different nice fragrances though.

onelittlelady I will wrap up the Plum and send it your way this weekend.

ToysRLuv · 17/05/2013 09:45

Sotd: Paris. Yum.

Travelling tomorrow, so lots of opportunity to sniff perfumes in airports. Yay!

Tried YSL Manifesto today. Sickly sweet, honey smelling heart. Strangely no honey listed as a note.

Also tried Cristalle eau verte. It's straight up lime and lemon. Very refreshing, but not for me. Much prefer the original Cristalle (although it's a tiny bit "stern" and serious for my liking).

Sat here eating my tar sweets. Have stocked up on them to bring to the UK but will scoff them all in about a week anyway

Fuzzybirds · 17/05/2013 11:34

SOTD is Rose d'Homme by Parfums de Rosine- soft and slightly leathery rose with a lemony hint, very unisex I think.

Toys I feel the same about Cristalle Eau Verte. I do love citrus but I found it a bit one dimensional, I think I'll stick to Eau de Guerlain!

Received another perfume parlour order today- versions of Montale White Aoud, Tobacco Vanille, Neroli Portofino, Creed's Love in Black and Bond no. 9 Chinatown. At first sniff, the TV and White Aoud smell divine, the rest very nice too.

FrugalFashionista · 17/05/2013 18:16

Toys mini Safari arrived - thanks a million! Enjoy duty frees!
I bought my bottle of Nerolia Bianca very early this morning...

Wearing Dries again (love the sandalwoody aura)!

ToysRLuv · 17/05/2013 18:25

No worries, Frugal! Put in a little something for your daughter (if I remember right Grin ), as well.

FrugalFashionista · 17/05/2013 19:15

They did appreciate it, thanks! Me too Wink

coffeeinbed · 17/05/2013 20:19

There were a few new Rosines in Liberty today.
I think I need some CdG Tea.
I do.

ToysRLuv · 17/05/2013 22:41

, forgot to say: Tried Lonestar Memories on my arm again yesterday, and after around half an hour, when the bitter smoke had calmed down, it was actually quite nice. Hmmm..

CdG Tea sounds nice too.. Read up on Black and found out its supposedly a masculine scent? Is it really?

Just had a shower together with ds and used db's old Tommy shower gel, which prompted ds to proclaim that "something smells nice in here". Smile It's a bit manly, though.

It makes you think, doesn't it.. what smells are perceived to be masculine or feminine and why. I suspect there is a lot of culture and tradition bound arbitrariness involved.

OneLittleLady · 17/05/2013 22:43

Thank you pocket I was waiting on someone else to jump on it!

I'm wearing my new prada today, as mentioned up thread. It has an almost petrol like not to it after first application but then calms down into something softly floral and powdery

OneLittleLady · 17/05/2013 22:44

note not not

ChocsAwayInMyGob · 17/05/2013 22:47

ToysRLuv- have you read The Perfumed Dandy blog? He constantly wears and reviews women's perfumes and refuses quite vehemently to give in to the convention of male or female scent.
It is a wonderfully eccentric site!

theperfumeddandy.com/

ChocsAwayInMyGob · 17/05/2013 22:49

Also, Lonestar Memories has really grown on me. This year I have been veering away from hesperides and towards Leathers and masculines. I like wearing something with a bit of oomph!

ToysRLuv · 17/05/2013 22:58

No, I haven't, Chocs.. Will check out. I really do think that perfumes should be worn by anyone and everyone regardless of the assigned sex, but find it hard to disengage from the divide myself. It really taints the "masculines" for me.

But rationally thinking, it's all very arbitrary and all fragrances are somewhere on the sliding "sex" scale (oh dear, that sounds like some kind of s&m "toy" Blush ). The "cut off point" is made up by marketing people.

ToysRLuv · 17/05/2013 23:04

Yes, I'm all for oomph as well! Added Shalimar on fb list a couple of days ago after finally sniffing it. I'd been irrationally scared of it - I though that I'd hate it. Turns out it's wonderful with lots of leather and spice, but Youth Dew, which I thought would be like Cinnabar, is revolting bug spray (on me).
