You can't buy off the actual Tauer site for delivery to the UK. But Les Senteurs and Scent and Sensibility both do FBs and samples.

Lonestar Memories is my favourite Tauer, closely followed by Eau d'Epices which basically smells like very posh gingerbread only not sweet. Which is interesting, because I suppose that counts as a gourmand in a way and yet I love it. Maybe it's just the sweetness I can't cope with?

Fuckitthatlldo · 14/05/2013 12:15

Thanks people. Shall have a look at Scent and Sensibility.

I'm going in person to Les Senteurs in a couple of weekends time when I happen to be passing through London. Am looking forward to it very much.

ChocsAwayInMyGob · 14/05/2013 12:21

Andy Tauer started his business by selling his perfumes in a friend's bookshop in Zurich. Is that adorable or what? Word on the street is that he is a delightful person.

CointreauVersial · 14/05/2013 12:45

SOTD is Tauer - Rose Chypree. I like it, but don't LOVE it, and it is possibly a little assertive for a day at my desk. Hey ho. I think my colleagues are used to my pungent ways.

Fuckitthatlldo · 14/05/2013 13:12

I think most people I know are used to me always being perfumed too Cointreau

It's funny isn't it - in my experience the majority of women don't really use perfume at all, or only use it on special occasions.

I use it every day - always have. Except when I was with my ex partner who couldn't stand it and used to cough exageratedly whenever I wore it. I think this is possibly because my mother always wore it every day too. It was musk she used when I was a child - I used to love it. She wore Anais Anais for a while too, I remember. These days we tend to like the same ones. We both bought Prada's Amber independently of each other, raved about our new perfumes when we next got together, and then realised we'd both got the same thing!

kiwigirl42 · 14/05/2013 13:18

I'm doused in Tubereuse Criminelle today - its my feeling good and looking good scent Smile. I've put LOADS on as well as home by myself today and DS won't mind when I collect him from school.
I noticed that its got quite a tarry note too (after your discussion up thread)

I've got to go and see if I can find the b^&*%$ rabbit who escaped last night so he'll smell me en route!

ToysRLuv · 14/05/2013 14:02

Tried Chopard Brilliant Wish in the shop today. Was brilliant, indeed. Have to get at leat a mini of that. It really reminds me of another perfume, but I can't quite put my finger on it.

I also still like Lacoste Pour Femme, but it's very soft, and now that I smell it, a few hours into application, reminds me of Holygrace Shock.Of that kind of enbalmed body smell (not that I actually know what it is like). Must be the pepper/jasmine combo. That's the only thing they've got in common.

Kiwi: Tubereuse Criminelle sounds good. Oh how I wish I lived somewhere with a SL shop. I'd be there like every day Grin .. On second though, actually maybe it's better that I don't..

OneLittleLady · 14/05/2013 14:05

I'm absolutely drenched in Alexander McQueen MyQueen today. It's lovely and it's going some way towards covering up the criminally bad farts my cats doing Shock

pocketandsweet · 14/05/2013 16:06

SOTD Mary Greenwell's Plum. Trying this out again. I like the top note but last time I wore it I thought that after awhile it started to smell like (ahem) the kind of smell associate with feminine hygiene projects. You know the sort of smell that smells like it is trying to cover something g else up.....so trying again to see if I feel the same this time.

Ladame · 14/05/2013 16:16

pocket My skin always turns anything with a peachy note into Laydeez hygiene products. Either that or I walk round smelling like Femfresh. Remember that? Uuurgh.

Ladame · 14/05/2013 16:18

Or Toilet Duck. I can make a lot of nice perfumes smell like Toilet Duck. It's a damn shame I can't make Toilet Duck smell like nice perfumes!

pocketandsweet · 14/05/2013 16:18

Smile [ladame]. We must be made if the same stuff. I find nothing more revolting than those laydeez smells. So now I'm going to have to read through past posts to find out what your favourites are since we are clearly chemically related

Ladame · 14/05/2013 16:25

Well, as I can't wear florals because of the TD connection, and I hate gourmands because of the cooking connection, my faves are Fresh woody green citrus colognes/perfumes like Eau Sauvage, Tom Ford Oud Wood and O De Lancome. But my favourite favourite is Narciso Rodriguez for Her/SJP Lovely (because it is so similar). NR is my equivalent of a little black dress and shiny high heels. What are your favourites?

OneLittleLady · 14/05/2013 16:27

ahhh, the old toilet duck smell. That's exactly what Ange au Demon smells like on my skin

pocketandsweet · 14/05/2013 16:35

Fresh green woody too. Chanel 19, Cristalle eau vert, O de Lancôme, Calandre, Eau Vitaminee ( rubbish name) and 4711. I have believe it or not never smelt SJP..... I shall seek it out!

Ladame · 14/05/2013 16:45

pocket There we are then, we're perfumetwinistas!! OLL Ange ou Demon is always Toilet Duck on me too. In fact my biggest nightmare would be to have Angel on one wrist and Ange Ou Demon on the other. The heavy cloying vanilla/milk chocolate combination of Angel is truly the work of the devil. Actually with all this talk of Angels, Demons and Devils, I feel a book coming on. Starting in a old church somewhere and if it got made into a film, it would have Tom Hanks in it ..... Wink

pocketandsweet · 14/05/2013 16:54

Smile ladame. I think someone may have written that book. I also hate vanilla. Well actually I love vanilla in a cooking/baking context but has been much mentioned there does seem to be a correlation between those who cook a lot and a desire to NOT smell like food smells. I would make an exception for oregano though. Wild Greek oregano is heaven on earth.

Actually if anyone could recommend a perfume that smells of warm olive trees, oregano and the sea please tell me! ( trying to recapture misspent extended youth).... I'm tempted by things like Sel Marin to send for a sample in case that is it but worried it will just smell all "aquatic". Aquatic is one of those genres that often veer into feminine hygiene for me.

pocketandsweet · 14/05/2013 17:03

BTW the MaryGrenwell Plum has gone all laydeez on me. Although I'm not exactly doing a great selling job if someone else would like a try I shall send it along to any interested party. It seems to have a lot of fans in general so someone is bound to like it.

OneLittleLady · 14/05/2013 17:06

I've never tried anything with plum in it that I know of so if no one else asks, I'd like to try it. Since I have already been gifted to by you, I will wait to see if anyone else asks first, I don't want to be grabby Smile

coffeeinbed · 15/05/2013 14:00

Feminite du Bois has plum.

Fuckitthatlldo · 15/05/2013 16:54

I have a sample of Feminite du Bois. It is at first, to my mind at least, a very elegant smelling fuity/floral, although it is marketed as a woody/floral with predominant cedar notes.

I don't know enough about perfumes to be able to sniff out many individual notes, although as FduB dries down the woodsyness definitely becomes more and more apparent to me. It provides the base line of the scent IYKWIM, with the flowers and fruit playing over the top.

I think it smells very feminine and that there's something quite timeless and classic about it. It is not cloying or overly sweet, in fact it's lovely - just not me in the slightest.

FrugalFashionista · 16/05/2013 19:15

Hi all, traveling so not much time to respond but sent out the violets today (two batches), hope you'll like them!

I'm wearing Dries van Noten by Malle, absolutely love this.

pocketandsweet · 16/05/2013 19:32

frugal I shall be ready to pounce on the postman! SOTD. Y byYSL my£9 ebay bargain. Like it alot

FrugalFashionista · 16/05/2013 19:51

Ooh Pocket Y is lovely - so grown-up and such a stylish scent.
I've been to perfume heaven - have smelled just about any noteworthy new release. Haber, if you haven't done so yet, find a sample of Comme des Garcons Black somewhere. I loved it, not sure whether it's charbroiled enough for you, but worth a try anyway.

Oh and Fuckit so happy that you've found your protective cloak. I'm often extremely stressed-out - totally wiped out today - but almost always find perfumes that soothe, calm, invigorate or exhilarate.

OneLittleLady · 16/05/2013 19:57

Picked up Prada Infusion De Fleur d'Oranger today, tis lovely one, not so much orange flower as it is violets and powder
