I think I might dig out my Sel Marin tomorrow.....

ToysRLuv · 07/05/2013 23:24

Yes, Sel MARIN, (not Sel de Mer - is that even real French?) duh..

Currently on my list to get decants of are: En Passant,

ToysRLuv · 07/05/2013 23:29

Posted too soon..

Also on list: l'Air du Desert Marocain, and possibly Bubblegum Chic, Sel Marin or On the Beach 1966, Lipstick Rose, Jaisalmer.

ToysRLuv · 07/05/2013 23:31

And Like This.

FrugalFashionista · 08/05/2013 07:20

I have a 5ml mini of Lipstick Rose that I will not wear, pm me if interested!

Wearing Chanel No 19 EDP now, this is very 'me' and has somewhat broody, dark, slightly warm undertones and a few twists and turns (I associate this with fall and winter). EDT is glacially cool, rosy and very linear. Good for summer, prefer the vintage version, the new aggressively green juice feels a notch more run-of-the-mill.

ToysRLuv · 08/05/2013 09:33

Oh, Frugal! That'd be great! Will pm to see if we can work something out..

Today's score: Passage D'Enfer isn't anything special, so I'll stick with Zagorsk and Jaisalmer..

Loukhoum Eau Poudree is just strange and heavy. Not really much like Loukhoum (the sweet) Confused

Fuckitthatlldo · 08/05/2013 11:43

Hello everyone, mind if I join in?

I recently started a thread about Tom Ford's new Sahara Noir and another poster pointed me in this direction.

Warm, spicy, orientals are my thing. I like them with a touch of sweetness but not too much, and can rarely find much in the department stores that I love.

I did really love the original Bulgari Omnia (the one in the brown packaging) but it has been discontinued and doesn't last particularly well. I still buy it online sometimes but its longevity issues are a problem. You can drown yourself in it and it's still gone in 2 or three hours Sad

I also enjoy Prada Amber and wear that often. But it's not the one.

I'm looking for something a little bit different and am really interested in exploring the niche side of things. So I've been onto Les Senteurs and have ordered samples of:

Ambre Sultan and Arabie by Serge Lutens
L'air du desert Morocain by Tauer
Shem el Nessim by Grossmith

If anyone has any other ideas or can tell me anything more about the perfumes I've ordered, I'd be dead grateful - thanks!

pocketandsweet · 08/05/2013 14:04

SOTD Gianfranco Ferre ( the one with the crystal around the neck of the bottle... Why are all of his perfumes so similarly named? ). This is an old favourite and reminds me of being madly in love a very long time ago.

I find it impossible to distinguish any notes separately ( except it has a big powdery aspect). It is very unlike the things I usually like but it reminds me of my first summer in Europe (as a gauche North American) and it smelled to me like everything a sophisticated European woman would smell like. :). I'm off to spread my sophistication around the DDs ballet class

Fuckitthatlldo · 08/05/2013 15:05

What is SOTD? Spray of the day?

OneLittleLady · 08/05/2013 15:06

Scent of the day I believe Smile

OneLittleLady · 08/05/2013 15:10

SOTD is the bog standard Eternity Moment. Reminds me of my Mum as she was the one who first bought it me

Fuckitthatlldo · 08/05/2013 15:24

Thanks OneLittleLady Smile

OneLittleLady · 08/05/2013 15:30

Just so you ladies know, if any of you have a branch of Savers near you, they still have a fragrance sale on. I doubt there'd be much to interest many of you but there's some perfect 'beginner' scents for daughters, nieces etc all mainstream stuff but some good choices for someone new to perfume

Dfg15 · 08/05/2013 15:35

Does anyone know of a perfume that is similar to Armani Sensi - I loved that perfume and its been discontinued. I've looked on ebay and have bid on some but it always goes above my budget. Or if someone had some as a present and didn't like it - I'd gladly pay for it. Desperate I am, desperate!

ChocsAwayInMyGob · 08/05/2013 15:49

OneLittleLady- I saw a Prada in Savers for 19.99! It was very violetty and had a dark green box. 19.99 for 50ml- can't beat it.

OneLittleLady · 08/05/2013 15:52

They've got some surprisingly good things on sale chocs I've picked a few different things both for myself and to put away as presents for later in the year.

ChocsAwayInMyGob · 08/05/2013 15:57

I agree One. Bodycare is also fab and I noticed Superdrug are selling all their Cacharels for £12 at the moment. They make lovely gifts. I bought some Noa last week and I really like it.

ChocsAwayInMyGob · 08/05/2013 15:58

Dfg15- Look it up on Fragrantica. There's often a little "smells like" section just above the reviews. Good luck!

OneLittleLady · 08/05/2013 16:03

We also have a House of Fraser outlet here and they always have some good perfumes in stock at good prices. I buy gift sets through the year to be given out as presents. Saves me an awful lot of money buying like that!

Dfg15 · 08/05/2013 16:06

thanks ChocsAway I'll have a look

OneLittleLady · 08/05/2013 16:07

Dfg15 Versace Crystal Noir is meant to be similar, or so I'm told anyway

Dfg15 · 08/05/2013 16:20

Thanks OneLittleLady, I'll check that out.

Fuzzybirds · 08/05/2013 16:38

Hi ladies and welcome to Fuckit and Dfg15!

SOTD is Lutece, a good one for those who like powdery, vintage scents (also cheap as chips)

OLL I wish we had a savers nearby, I'll have to keep a lookout for one on my travels. On the subject of bargains, my Mum called today to say she has picked up some perfumes from her local car boot for me, including a handbag size chanel allure for 50p! Shock

Can't wait to see what else she got. My visits to my local car boot have not been very successful but I think I'll have another look this Sunday!

OneLittleLady · 08/05/2013 16:40

Sounds exciting fuzzy chanel for 50p is amazing!

Haberdashery · 08/05/2013 16:59

Lutece! That's a blast from the past. I remember liking that in the nineties. Lovely old-fashioned heavy powdery flowers, as I remember.
