I luuuurve cheesecloth - bought a cheesecloth shirt from Monsoon not that long ago and it's still going on hols with me, scrunched up but mysteriously unwrinkled.

And I forgot to add my fave strong fish/pasta recipe. Take anchovies (marinated is best, but salted fine too) or sardines or mackerel. Fry up with chilli, garlic, lemon, capers and breadcrumbs until you have pungent fishy mush. Boil pasta, add loads of kale for last 2 mins, drain and then toss fish mush through with more lemon juice. Can also use savoy cabbage or spinach, but kale is best. Scrummy, and so good on cold nights as you get a sort of fish-flavoured Ready Brek glow.

Maybe we should start a tiered skirt micro-trend. Since Crem already has the catalogue Grin.

It's hailing now and dh will be cycling home from Kentish Town to Streatham soon. Poor bloke, his knackers are going to freeze.

Cremolafoam · 22/03/2013 17:30

Lololol
Dh just arrived home in the neighbour farmers tractor !!!
His car is in a pile of snow at the bottom of the hill( a mile away and undamaged)
He looks hilarious in his business suit on a Massey GrinGrinGrin

Yay for Crem's dh! Smile Nothing like fish and chips on a freezing Friday. Add some Wine and have a lovely evening.

bigTillyMint · 22/03/2013 17:39

Wilbur and my DH too - from Bethnal Green though!

Mmmmm fish and chips. And wine!

Stropperella · 22/03/2013 17:39

I have never heard of Clothkits before. Nice choices, QQ.

Stropperella · 22/03/2013 17:42

Crem, I like the pic of your dh in his suit on the tractor, bearing fish and chips. So glad to hear you have the power back on. Hope your dd gets back OK.

MI, sounds like a very interesting evening Grin

CointreauVersial · 22/03/2013 17:42

Fish & Chips on a tractor - the man has style. Grin

BD, I'd forgotten you are practically a Brummie. Come onto my thread and suggest something for us to do!

bigTillyMint · 22/03/2013 17:43

Should be fun, MI! Is it a primary school thing?

CointreauVersial · 22/03/2013 17:46

Yes, BTM, you are correct, DM is (or was) a bona fide fashion designer. But she didn't make the kind of clothes that a 10yo wanted to wear, that's for sure.
She has always been very scathing about the poor quality of most shop-bought stuff; even now she will usually customise or improve any clothing she buys.

CV only a Brummie by location, not birth...
Pen museum (jewellery quarter - apparently it is better than you'd think!)
All the things mentioned on thread. Botanical gardens - if weather is nice.
Ikon gallery.
Client hill - nice walk.

Have to said for a large city I have always found Birmingham sadly lacking on the cultural front - though does depend when you come.

Can offer food suggestions if you give me rough idea of likes/dislikes...

bigTillyMint · 22/03/2013 20:27

GetOrf has been recommending the 99p baguettes on another thread, CVGrin

CointreauVersial · 22/03/2013 21:21

Thanks BD. I know you aren't a Brummie by birth, but you probably know more about the place than I do.

DS has decided he quite fancies going to The Gadget Show at the NEC.Hmm

By the way, Wilbur, did I read on another thread that you had an interesting night out this week? How did that come about?

Cremolafoam · 22/03/2013 22:44

Oh we are back in the dark again.
Waiting for dds return from Berlin by candlelight. Still a blizzard outside : we're going to have to dig ourselves out , hike to the car to pick dd up from school at ETA 3am.Shock
Can't even have Wine

Ruby- did I imagine it that you are in Cambridge ? Just wondering as will be there in a couple of weeks.
Maybe I just dreamed that.....

Nightmare, Crem.

Not so much as a flake in Surrey (but it's perishing cold).

Just been sniggering at the London Zones 2-3 thread. Herbs, you got stuck in there, didn't you?Grin

QueenQueenie · 22/03/2013 23:22

It's a warning crepeys. Stay on this thread. It's crazeeeeee out there I tells ya.

Cremolafoam · 22/03/2013 23:32

Agree . I was looking at the 'all mumsnetters are miserable' one.
< runs away screaming>
I'm not miserable but my Dunkirk spirit is waning. It funny in the dark how time just goes on and on. Perhaps if I tripped the switch once a week I could get more shit done Grin
( except cooking and ironing and internetting)obv

I have just got into a ruck on a thread and am getting out.

I am now going to spend the morning reworking some work I sent off which I have been told is shite. It is shite. It is full of humiliating, elementary mistakes. I am so ashamed of myself and I want to cry.

Blackduck · 23/03/2013 08:22

Cremo - hope you got dd okay this morning.
MI - :( hope you have a better day.
My night out didn't happen - didn't want to risk not getting home today - 5 inches of snow overnight and just started again...

But we have booked five days in Kefalonia - okay wont be blistering hot, but hopefully warm and sunny!!

MrsSchadenfreude · 23/03/2013 08:30

Hello Hags! Had a lovely day yesterday - it started in the pantry with the butler, drinking Champagne for his birthday, then went out to lunch with some old friends, drinks after work then off for a pizza with the DDs and the houseguests (who have amazingly bought me flowers, wine and paid for dinner last night, which is an absolute first).

On the style and beauty front, I have bought some Filorga anti age serum and some of their BB cream, as there was 20% off in Monoprix. I wanted some of their anti ageing moisturiser and their Sleep and Peel mask, but both had sold out. Will report back. Even with 20% off, was not cheap. M & S now stock it, if you are interested.

hattymattie · 23/03/2013 08:44

I had a sample of Siseley lip and eye anti age cream - thought it was quite nice and seemed to actually work - so rushed off to Marionnaud to find out it cost - 106E Shock. I think I'll just have to leave the eye bags.

Mrs S - you drank champagne with the ... butler - am I missing something here?

Love the fish and chips husband - sounds very heroic/romantic - although they must have needed a reheat. Grin

motherinferior · 23/03/2013 08:48

The mistakes are not as crappy as I thought. Careless sloppy work but not as shoddy as I feared.

When I worked on a glossy mag a while back my lovely beauty colleagues gave me the most divine moisturiser, which cost several hundred pounds, I think, a Guerlain one which made me radiant. Sadly, I have foresworn radiance for solvency Grin

Chucking down in Sarfeast bloody Lunnon. Supposed to go to a party tonight. Suspect won't make it Sad
