Grin Over here!

I have effed and blinded and sent in the application for the school. DD1 had a strop about the photo I had selected (yes, I had the joy of trying to upload a photo too) so we had to take another one. I told her she looked American in it, and she had another strop. But it has gone, and I have sent a grovelly email to the school asking them to forward her school reports and the MAP test (like SATS) results from the last three years, plus their confidential evaluation.

What is "deep cleaning"? Grin

DH is being very conciliatory but hasn't actually apologised for his behaviour, so he can go fuck himself until he does.

Deep clean? Hmmmm. No, don't think I have ever done one of those. Grin

Crepeys - I need some recipe help. Dd is chicken-minding this week, but she has 2 lots this time (or rather I do as she isn't walking anywhere today or tomorrow). 13 chooks in total, which means we have a stupendous amount of eggs already, despite having given away 18 yesterday. Any good cake recipes needing large amounts of eggs? I bloody hate them boiled and souffles make me sick. We have made meringues and cheese straws. Any other ideas?

Beachy - it freezes? Genius. I can stuff the freezer with several different types. Most excellent. Plus the entire family actually likes quiche. Yes!

MrsSchadenfreude · 02/04/2013 21:55

I've got the decorators in, and I don't mean men with paintbrushes. I am, literally, painting the town red. When is all this nonsense going to stop? I yearn for the Chums catalogue and a nice beige outfit.

MrsSchadenfreude · 02/04/2013 21:55

Cake, Strops. That freezes well too...

Stropperella · 02/04/2013 21:56

Blimey, Rubes, he could come and visit us and then he would never complain about anything like that at your house every again.

Stropperella · 02/04/2013 21:57

Ah, but MrsS - which cake? Do you have any recommendations for recipes? We have a lot of chocolate at the moment (funny, that) and could do with something needing both eggs and chocolate.

There's a delia recipe for chocolate roulade that uses 13 eggs or something - will try to findGrin

Deep clean required here but I will pay the child to crawl into the back of the kitchen cupboards for me.Wink
I do have a cleaner once a week but she flatly refuses to move furniture and just seems to take the visible dust away and sets everything I have lined up straight at a jaunty angle( chairs, pictures, magazines, the toaster.
Last week the stools in the kitchen were all siting diagonally.
Sort of wish she would just put the Hoover roundGrin.......

Look we stayed here

I used to think chicken-keeping was just an idiotic new MC fad, but I am almost thinking I might like to get some myself as it does appear to be quite cheap food. However, I must keep reminding myself how a neighbour exterminated her chickens rather brutally when they stopped laying and I instantly realised I am such a namby wuss that I would just end up with a henhouse full of decrepit old boilers and no eggs. Little old chickens with zimmers etc.

Cremolafoam · 02/04/2013 22:07

8 eggs very retro DeliaGrin

Brownies - Nigella's recipe would feed an army (I make them in a roasting tin) and uses six eggs.

A nice Victoria Sponge.

Stropperella · 02/04/2013 22:08

Choc roulade with 13 eggs? Sounds like just the ticket. Have googled and found a Mary Berry one that uses 6.

Stropperella · 02/04/2013 22:11

Ha - x-posts. Thanks Crem. Will modify recipe to avoid cherries as ds will have a fit of the vapours if presented with anything that looks like "berries". (Hoping that he will grow out of this idiocy before too long). Am now googling Nigella's brownie recipe. Do they freeze as well? And can you freeze Vicky sponge?

Cremolafoam · 02/04/2013 22:18

Oh def Stropps you could use anything in the middle . I'm pretty sure I made it once with actual chocolate mousse in the middle which would account for the rest of the 13 eggs.
I'd make the flourless sponge and freeze it flat . Then defrost and fill with cream , fruit, mousse, Nutella or whatever. Vair handy actuallySmile

Stropperella · 02/04/2013 22:22

Mmmmmm. Fill with creeeeeam.

I just had no idea you could freeze this stuff - thought it would go soggy.

Cremolafoam · 02/04/2013 22:30

Just need to be well wrapped in cling
If you're using grease proof paper in the base of the tin I would leave that on and transfer it to a sheet of film and wrap carefully . Then lay flat on a freezer shelfSmile

Ach, stop with the food talk. I feel like a Strasbourg goose, having done nothing but eat and drink for the last three days. Currently staycationing at DDad's place in the Midlands (and DSM is a stupendous cook).

In between meals we've tramped around a freezing but fascinating Black Country Museum, blitzed the Bullring, admired canals, and tomorrow we're off to the Gadget Show Live, then back home. Phew.

Blackduck · 03/04/2013 01:56

MrsS does he realise how out of line he was/is? I was actually getting quite angry on your behalf! Lazy - hang on this is the Oman who dealt with friends he invited over when he wasn't going to be there!!

Stropps - quiche is the way to go.

We have played bed swap and I lost so am in ds's bed having negotiated the strewn train track, I am in his bed which is not so much made as had the covers flung generally in its direction, pillow is at the Wong end, and it is full of soft toys. If I am really unlucky I will turn over and set off the bloody baaing sheep.....
Ruby send yourDH on here after a visit to Stropps - he'll never complain again.

Blackduck · 03/04/2013 01:56

Oman!! Where did that come from :) :)
