Thanks Sorrel Smile

After reading the bra threads I am now the proud owner of a 28F curvy kate smoothie and a 28G cleo Juna. My actual size is 28FF or 26G (which I don't think exist) but these two were the best fits for me out of the ones I tried on. I do find the back a bit big in the smoothie.
I went to bravissimo and tried a load on aswell as ordering a few from amazon and figleaves. Only these two bras actually fit me and gave a nice shape. The curvy kate lottie and emily were cheap on amazon but looked dreadful on, the shape was awful so they went back (free delivery and returns by the way). In bravissimo I worked out that panache/cleo work better for me than other brands and padded or moulded balconette styles are best.
Thankyou bra ladies for you help Thanks.

I had always worn a 32 band (with a 26 ribcage pre kids and 27 inch ribcage after two pregnancies). I was measured age 14 (11 yrs ago) in M and S as a 30DD but told I wouldn't be able to find that size so I'd have to wear a 32D on tightest hook. I have always worn a correctly fitting cup (32E/F was what I was wearing) so thought I knew what a well fitting bra was. My bras have always just sat on my boobs and given no support and sometimes my boobs fell out the bottom if I put my arms up. I love my new perky, supported boobs!

StatisticallyChallenged · 24/03/2013 08:18

Bergholt if you are handy with a needle and thread it's pretty easy to take the band in - most people removed the section with the clips, snip a small amount off the main band and then reattach (use zig zag stutch on your machine if you have one)

There is also a little gadget available on Ebay called the Rixie clip which is a band reducer.

Well my Cleo Darcy arrived, and I have worn it twice, and so far so good!

I think I may just end my search here and stick with this style in a 34G.

Still looking for a non padded, but may wait a while, stick with my Cleos! And to think a couple of months ago I was wearing a 38D!!!!!!!

OK - I was at the Mn meetup when we discussed this and Furball pointed us in this direction (snurk!).

I'm a 36 under and 43.5 dangling over

itsthawooluff · 24/03/2013 10:48

In my excitement, I've been rude - no I didn't mean to be that rude.

Dear, kind helpers of the bosmically challenged - please could you advise a poor soul who often finds the underwires chafe at the armpit and bras gape at the front.

I'm a 36/43.5 and a bit saggy.

Thanks you very much

Wooluff

StatisticallyChallenged · 24/03/2013 10:59

itsthawooluff, start by trying a 36F and 36FF

What are you wearing just now?

EggwiniasRevenge · 24/03/2013 11:03

Statistically are you keeping a database of what people are wearing before and after. Tgat would be soooo interesting and so powerful on your blog

MrsHelsBels74 · 24/03/2013 11:06

An update from me. After wearing my 34F for the day I was really glad to take it off, I assume this is fairly normal if you've been used to wearing non-underwired, wrong sized bras. Had red marks everywhere & this morning my chest feels bruised where the underwires have been. Is this just something to accept whilst the bra & I get used to each other or is it symptomatic that I've got the wrong size...again?

lookout · 24/03/2013 12:26

MrsHelsBels74 I had the same problem with the bruised ribs the first couple of wears of my underwires (have been in non-wired bras for two years cos of bf). They're actually much better now, so hopefully yours will get better as you wear them in Smile

I love this thread! Please can I have a go?

I'm 33 under and 42.5 over. A 32 seems ambitious for me as a chubby size 14 top 16 bottom but I'm willing to give it a go.

I'm just struggling with cup size. HH?

CelticPromise · 24/03/2013 14:51

Fregola start with a 32GG or H. I'm a size 16 all over and wear a 30 back!

sparkle12mar08 · 24/03/2013 14:55

Almost exactly the same as me Fregola - I'm 31.5 and 42! I wear mostly 30H with a sprinkling of 30GG's, a 28HH (very stretchy make) and one 32G (Debs Gorgeous range - it doesn't come in a 30 back but they run very small anyway).

Start with 32GG, 32H, 34G and GG. It all depends on brand and style tbh.

OneLittleLady · 24/03/2013 14:58

I have ONE perfectly fitting bra now. A debenhams 34F (don't know which range, I was too busy crowing because I didn't have back fat in it to pay attention!). Also pleased because it's very pretty and only cost me £5.50 in the sale. Just got to work on building up a collection of well fitting bras now Smile

peaz · 24/03/2013 15:32

Can I join in? I'm wearing 38DD but I'm wondering if this is right. What do I need to do?

Fregola · 24/03/2013 15:46

I'll give it a try. Thanks ladies.

StatisticallyChallenged · 24/03/2013 16:15

Yup Fregola, another 30 back who is a 14-16 over here.

Peaz you need to measure yourself - guide to measuring here

AmazingDisgrace · 25/03/2013 11:13

My Simply Be 2nd order of the Lucia Balconettes has arrived. The 32G band measured 28" unstretched so a 34 really (same as the 32FF from my first order) The 30's (FF and G) measured 26.5" which is correct for a 32. The 30G is a perfect fit. I usually fit a 32FF/F in most bras.

Quite simply, Simply Be have a whole load of mislabelled Fauve Lucias.

OneLittleLady · 25/03/2013 11:30

Wait, a 34 back should measure 28" unstretched?

AmazingDisgrace · 25/03/2013 11:41

Pretty much, certainly in this bra. You can check band measurements for bras on bratabase

OneLittleLady · 25/03/2013 11:53

That's a weird because I've just been and measured all my 36 back bras, in different brands, including Curvy Kate and they ALL measure 28" unstretched.........

StatisticallyChallenged · 25/03/2013 12:11

I think the un stretched isn't an exact science -I suspect it varies according to how stretchy the fabric is as the stretched measurements are really more important I think

OneLittleLady · 25/03/2013 12:13

I wouldn't say any of them are especially stretchy. I will return with stretched measurements for comparison

OneLittleLady · 25/03/2013 12:16

Strectched measurements are 34.5 for the Curvy Kates and 34 for the cheap non specific bras. Is that about right or have I bought dodgy sized bras?

AmazingDisgrace · 25/03/2013 12:17

I've an old 36DD La Senza that measures 25" unstretched, a 32FF Curvy Kate at 26" and a 34F Figleaves at 27"

It must be in the stretch
