Love the top QueenC, ask the 'Frugal' questions - have you three things you would wear it with, maybe you have a navy top that is on its last legs and this is a replacement? And have my eyes deceived me or have you just linked a necklace worth £2m??? I?d be afraid to leave the house in it!

Congrats on becoming an auntie today Marsha...I am so broody! Would love, love, love to have another baby....

Back stories so interesting - seems issues with mothers, weight, body shape are the norm...

Amber 30?s were amazing for me ? met DH, lots of travel, career took off, relocated to London, bought house, had DD etc feels like it was the decade when I became a proper adult. Biggest change was becoming much more self aware and more confident in myself.

Decam thanks for the Me&Em code. I did call their customer service but they wouldn?t let me use it! Think I may just have to buy something at full price and get on their radar as a customer!

MrsRadicchio · 18/03/2013 16:15

interesting posts. Am quite shocked by some of the things people's mothers said to them. On the whole my parents were ok with that, though when I was young they did used to point out if they thought I'd put on weight. Not helpful! I generally have an ok body image though tend towards comfort eating. And I need to start exercising more.

Am in my mid 30s and feel like this decade will be given over to raising children, dcs are 2.5 and 14 weeks and we may want one more. Dc2 being so young does make me feel unable to dress as I want to, need to wear clothes I can breastfeed in, don't bother with necklaces / earrings as one dc will grab it, only using a nappy bag at mo. Also too big to fit into most pre dc2 clothes. And I have lots of nice clothes languishing in the wardrobe as a result.

am wearing the forest green j crew cords I bought last week with a navy and white striped top. I like the colours together.

I also get complimented in dresses etc rather than trousers. I'd love to know how to dress for my shape in a way that fits my lifestyle and preferences.

Congrats Marsha on becoming an auntie. Will you be able to meet the baby soon?

I have two boys so not much interest in fashion here. Ds1 likes to wear his scooter helmet most of the time, that's the extent of his interest at the mo.

QueenCadbury · 18/03/2013 17:31

liberty there were so many numbers in the price that I couldn't work out how much it was Grin. And yes, the gap top will go with everything in my wardrobe-all my jeans and all my cardigans! I will keep it as those sorts of tops wash well and I love it.

QueenCadbury · 18/03/2013 17:36

Meant to add congrats to marsha too. I'm really broody but no more for me. My body really couldn't cope with another pregnancy and my patience wouldn't cope with another child

Like most of you, my 30s were getting married, getting my dream job and having kids. At a totally different place now I'm heading towards I'm 40 as I never in a million years would have thought that I'd love being a SAHM but I just couldn't successfully do my job part time and juggling work/childcare would just be too stressful with 3 dc and not financially viable on my wage.

MarshaBrady · 18/03/2013 17:44

The gap is definitely a great buy QueenC.

MrsR unfortunately my sister is in Australia and couldn't be further away. I will only get the photos, this is probably adding to my broody nuttiness. If I could visit and have a hold it might be easier!

Drywhiteplease · 18/03/2013 17:57

Evening all.

Today I was wearing a sensible/ school / sodding snow appropriate ensemble.
Now I'm slobbing in my beloved boyfriend (straight cut rolled up) , grey sweatshirt and blingy statement necklace ( like to keep up my standardsGrin!!) topped off with slippers....

Should we tell amber about that " thing" < does annoying air inverted commas with fingers>that happens at 30 or just let her find out?Wink

I'm pissed off with H and M. Bought some stuff online, just received the statement with £7.50 late payment charge when I never received a previous statement. Buggers!

And finally.......I love my mother but apart from the family bum complex she passed on to her daughters, whilst I have always watched my weight ( to extreme in my late teens) my sister is v over weight. You can imagine how that goes down in a French family. You can't win....I'm too thin, she's too fat!!! Screwed up!

In my typical enthusiasm I agreed to come and meet you all in London......in the cold light of day I have realised this would involve a 6 hr round trip. May not make it.......but would really love to.

shopafrolic · 18/03/2013 18:29

I did think you were being ambitious Drywhite - if you're ever down this way we can arrange a meet up around you

MarshaBrady · 18/03/2013 19:49

Blond I saw on the wearing today thread you bought the lovely grey I&I silk shirt! I really wanted that one too. Well done! What else did you get in your clearance outnet shopping?

Drywhite my mother is half French and very quickly tells any of her children if they are too big or too thin!

Drywhiteplease · 18/03/2013 19:50

Ironically we're "doing" the Tower of London the weekend before!!!I know what I'd rather be doing
Come down a lot.....will let you know when I come down next.

shopafrolic · 18/03/2013 20:00

That'd be good Dry definitely another time.

Drywhiteplease · 18/03/2013 20:00

marsha I'm half French and I will never do that. My kids are perfect the way they are and always will be in my eyes ( one is a 6ft rugby mad giant!!!Grin)

shopafrolic · 18/03/2013 20:20

Blond can you link to the I&I blouse? I'm curious on the colour as I'm struggling to find lizard grey. I'm a fellow autumn.....

AmberNectarine · 18/03/2013 20:32

Marsha I haven't had more than 5 hours sleep in a night for 21 months, and I know your DS2 was a non-sleeper too. Remember that and feel your womb snap shut.

shopafrolic · 18/03/2013 20:37

PMSL Amber
There's a reason they use sleep deprivation as a form of torture..... Hope you get a good night's kip one night soon.

MarshaBrady · 18/03/2013 20:41

Lol Amber. Yep ds2 was atrocious. It is dangerous to finally get sleep. Although he still ends up in our bed sometimes.

Drywhite we moved to Aus when little so not much of it got passed down here too, although funny to recognise some of my parents' traits after all this time.

BrandyAlexander · 18/03/2013 20:45

Congrats Marsha!!!

Snort at Amber!!! Dc2 is a non-sleeper. he woke for a breastfeed every 2 hours until he was 14 months old. I was exhausted especially with workShock

Shop this is the I&I Shirt. It's a hard colour to find isn't it? The shirt is kind of a stone colour and exactly matches the swatch in my wallet as luck would have it.

Marsha I must've got lucky with the shirt as was late to the party with the Outnet. Also got the striped acid green/olive jumper as Shop and olive cable knit but I have sent it on to Foxy - fingers crossed she loves it .

Shop what are you wearing your striped one with? I love it but it's very bright isn't it.

Also who was it with the leopard boots? Shop as well? I love my New Look ones with pretty much any trousers/simple outfit, but then I don't wear much pattern on my clothes.

blondambition · 18/03/2013 20:48

Marsha meant to say congrats on becoming an Aunty, how lovely! My mum is very keen for another grandchild, so I want for my brother to hurry up and take the pressure off me!!

Decameron · 18/03/2013 20:49

Nice shirt, Blonde.

That's a bit off, Liberty, they shouldn't really advertise on the Red subscriber section if they aren't going to honour it. Did you try the code VIP for £20 off?

Drywhiteplease · 18/03/2013 20:55

Oops first half we were living in town London) having a fab time partying, travelling a lot etc. we also got married and that's first time I really had to think about my style. Also helped me get rid of the no nos! I reached a career pinnacle so how I dressed even more important.

2nd half pregnancies and breastfeeding! Very different lifestyle moved from central London to the burbs. Style wise, I was very into pregnancy chic so thought a lot about clothes! Got bored with it after a while hence the obsession with accessories.

40s began wellGrin I did foolishly moan to dh this morning that I don't wear the full range of my jewelry enough. Was comical as he was on to that quick as a flash while I kicked myselfGrinGrin bugger!
