I'd love your opinions - Is this dress too casual as bridal dress?

ooo vintage pearls yes!

I'm liking it more than I did before now, you should definitely order it and see.

The dress I ended up with for our wedding was nothing like what I thought I wanted so you must try this and different styles too that's an order Grin

lotsofboats · 19/02/2013 19:59

Kandybarr , that's exactly It!....i hope.... haha. Thank you!

Thanks impatient one, I think this is number 5!!! I'm having a nightmare :-)

That Ralph Lauren one is lovely.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/02/2013 20:28

I think it's absolutely gorgeous, but agree that at 37 you might want/need something a bit more tailored. It's the sort of thing that would look amazing on somebody like Alexa Chung or a young Winona Ryder but on anybody with norks might not be great.

If you're fairly petite and non-norky it could still work - but please, no sash.

PebblePots · 19/02/2013 20:35

It's lovely, definately worth a try on

Viviennemary · 19/02/2013 20:41

I don't think it's suitable. It's not a dreadful dress but I just don't think it's suitable for the occasion. It's much too short. I liked both dresses suggested by cookielove. Particularly the first one. That would be ideal. But it's your dress and your day.

LynetteScavo · 19/02/2013 20:44

It's be fine if you have really great legs and no more than 12 guests.

howdoyouknowjenny · 19/02/2013 20:46

I think it could look great if you wore a veil and incredible shoes. You need to have something about you to carry it off though or it could just look casual rather than young and fun

LynetteScavo · 19/02/2013 21:18

The RL one is very, very nice.

LynetteScavo · 19/02/2013 21:19

Ooooh, the Kristina one at Monsoon is lush!

lalalonglegs · 19/02/2013 21:44

I think it could look great but it is young. Could look brilliant with a little gerbera posy and matching flowers in hair. I'm going to repeat it though: think twice if you look over 25.

tethersend · 19/02/2013 21:45

The one in the OP looks a bit cheap... How about something vintage?

GlaikitFizzog · 19/02/2013 22:49

Get the RL one! Get the RL one!

I love it but already married!!

mummyplonk · 19/02/2013 23:14

That R.lauren one is bloody gorgeous.

lotsofboats · 19/02/2013 23:22

Oh no! I now love the monsoon ones and the RL!!!
What do I do, what do I do!?! I have till sept to make a choice... Thank you all, you've been so helpful Smile
I will probably be back with more!!!!

Surprised by the love for the RL one - I think it looks 'old' & too formal Blush

ImpatientOne · 19/02/2013 23:26

September is the best month to get married Wink

byanymeans · 20/02/2013 08:59

I vote go try it on. If you love it wear it.

This is my wedding dress, its not white, long or designer but its my dress. So if love it have it

KandyBarr · 20/02/2013 08:59

Oh God, yes, Remus is right about the sash. You're aiming for Alexa Chung, not Bonnie Langford.

Levantine · 20/02/2013 09:05

Ooh the Monsoon Yvette! Get that OP, it is gorgeous

SeventiesBush · 20/02/2013 09:17

I like the idea of something simple, I think it's romantic. But I do think the Neiman Marcus one looks cheap. How about something like:

this one
or
this
or
this one
or this - lovely and in the sale

Branleuse · 20/02/2013 09:31

i like it

Teds77 · 20/02/2013 09:49

It's the neckline that makes it a bit too casual for me rather than the length. I think you could get away with it if tall and with killer heels.

Otherwise my tip would be 60s shift dress style. Something like this (although I'm not totally convinced by the stuff at the neck)-
