Time to call in some bra favours!

Ok, Florida in 5 weeks and I have no swimwear. I would really like a new bikini. Preferable 50s style, halterneck, underwired (needs to be for these 30G/GGs) and big pants (size 12) (although will consider tie sides).

I've seen this on Bravissimo but it's a bit meh.

this? I prefer your first one though.

Pseudonymity · 14/02/2013 11:06

Have a look a Freya Swim, they have the nicest designs out of the proper bra size swimwear manufacturers.

ComeAlongPond · 14/02/2013 11:07

This is nice

SorrelForbes · 14/02/2013 11:20

Pond. I prefer your first link but sadly it doesn't go up to a G cup.

Thanks both. I had a look at the Freya site but nothing really grabbed my eye (maybe they look better on?). I don't get on with plunge styles and actually got rid of all my Freya bras as they just don't seem to fit me that well.

I think I have a picture in my head of a very 50s style bikini with wide halter neck straps (not those string things that cut in!) which probably doesn't exist!

Off to town now so will have a look in Debenhams and HoF (there aren't any other decent shops).

This Freya one is nice, not sure about the colour though.

OP posts:
ComeAlongPond · 14/02/2013 12:10

I'm sure it must exist. I've definitely seem them before. Good luck in town!

SorrelForbes · 14/02/2013 12:57

Huh, well that was pants! Nothing in Debenhams smaller than a 32 back or bigger than an F. HoF haven't got their swimwear in yet. Back to the Internet.

LittlePandaBear · 14/02/2013 14:18

Boux Avenue go up to a 30G but not a GG (the description is misleading on this bikini as when you click through to the sizes it is availble with a 30 back).

Quite a few nice ones on here, not tried the brand before though so not sure on the fit.

ComeAlongPond · 14/02/2013 14:55

John Lewis?

SorrelForbes · 14/02/2013 15:03

LittlePandaBear Ooh, I like that! There isn't a branch anywhere near me so I think I will order a 30G and a 32G as I've heard that they come up small in the back. Not totally bowled over by the pants. Boy shorts are a no no with my thighs and although I don't mind wearing an itsy bitsy pair of side tie bottoms, my DSC would probably rather I didn't!

ComeAlongPond I love this but it doesn't come in my size.

SorrelForbes · 14/02/2013 15:09

shopafrolic I know it ticks the boxes but.... I don't like it Sad, sorry. I think it's the plunge plus the frill. Ahh, no matching pants available anyway.

OP posts:
ComeAlongPond · 14/02/2013 15:13

How frustrating, I'm sure I've seen one so similar but I can't for the life of me remember where. I'll try to think.

SorrelForbes · 14/02/2013 15:19

Oh god, I love this. Look at the price though! It comes in a 32F which I could possibly squeeze these babies into with a shoehorn

OP posts:
ComeAlongPond · 14/02/2013 15:38

Shock at the price!

Also, what in the name of all that is holy is THIS monstrosity??

SorrelForbes · 14/02/2013 16:08

My eyes!!!!

Krisline actually do some great bras but some of the photos they use to advertise their styles are a bit Hmm.

SorrelForbes · 14/02/2013 17:17

Thanks Meggle, sady not. Plunge and me do not a good look make!

Just watch the halter neck bikinis. Having that kind of weight on your neck can hurt after a while!

Have had good experiences with bravissimo bikinis. Would recommend underwires for a better shape.

halterneck and big-ish pants up to GG

doradoo · 14/02/2013 17:24

M&S up to a G cup

shrimponastick · 14/02/2013 17:29

I just ordered this -

kelly brook but I don't think sizes iwll be right for you

soaccidentprone · 14/02/2013 17:50

have you tried Curvy Kate?

SorrelForbes · 14/02/2013 18:06

I only ever wear underwired Grin. The Curvy Kate one is nice but I always think that the bra shape tops just make me look like I'm walking around in my underwear! I think Halter necks are much more flattering and help balance my hips and shoulders.

I really can't wear plunge styles. I need a balcony shape with halter staps that come from the side of the cups.

I've emailed a lady via Etsy who makes vintage style bikinis up to a DD and asked if she'll make a G!
