Well, I'll have you know that I am quite a nicely dressed teacher!

Yes to weather girls. They all wear those awful polyester dresses with lurid coloured panels.

Police ladies have to wear really horrible shoes.

Gardeners. I speak for myself. I try to be smart and functional but I usually end up in outfits that embarrass the kids.

Solicitors. Not trendy London ones obviously but the ones up here who dress like they purchased their suits from charity shop rag bags and spilt their lunch down their tie.
Dandruff seems to be commonplace too (shudder)

Maybe you should consider whether the typical person underneath goes with the look. Can you imagine the average nun done up as a weather girl? No - nuns look better in their understated mystique outfits.

Surgeons are well dressed when not in theatre, but personally i have always looked better in scrubs than in a suit, because I look like a coalminer in drag when forced to wear high heels/ tights that ladder/ skirt that never fits & rides up/ top that looks unironed/ makeup that looks terrible no matter what...

Also - anyone on Songs of Praise could be wearing absolutely anything under that cassock.... Grin

Engineers, definitely. I work with a few hundred of them and you can tell when they interviewed for their first jobs out of college as they are still wearing the same styles / colours of shirt / ties / suits as we're fashionable then - think double-breasted with indigo shirt and yellow tie (1990's) etc.

Not a particular profession, but anyone who wears "smart" trousers made of cheap fabric.

Bankers are pretty frightful. Not necessarily the hedge-funders (altho their weekend 'gear' is very lowering to see) but the sort of people who work in the HQ towers of big banks.

There seems to be a professional qualification in bad-fit polyester, with a compulsory semi-transparent shirt for the women and a 'jaunty' tie for the men.

The worst dressed are often the most useful though (massive generalisation there!). I mean, teachers, GPs and childcare workers have considerations other than style to dress for - easier for people who sit sipping latte all day to look stylish at work. (Speaking as someone who works in the arts sector!)

I don't know if maths lecturers are the worst. Those geologists are always dressed for the field, no matter where they are...

People who work in local council offices.

They all pop out for lunch in groups in my town to Greggs wearing black bootcut poyesters and denim jackets or ill fitting suit jacket, with scruffy hair and a pallish complexion. And rucksacks.

I knew my profession would be on here. Grin In its defence, you have to balance a public facing role with inclement weather conditions, including underfoot, and most us of us can't be arsed to change outfits all the time. It rains all the fucking time on my patch.

Hence the cheap trews, sensible and warm upper half, boots and cagoule look. Minimal make up and hair up. Anything smarter gets wrecked.
