Can I justify this much on a pair of boots ?

I have my eye on a pair of Noira Ugg boots.
They aren't the hideous slipper type ones they are actually leather. I have been given the money as a christmas present so don't want to get them if they aren't worth the money.

Anyone have any experience ??

They may not be the slipper ones but they're still utterly gopping.

When I think of all the beautiful boots that £235 could buy I am genuinely Shock and Confused that anyone would choose those monstrosities.

crikeybill · 19/12/2012 12:56

oh.....okaaaayy.

For example please Confused

Yes, they're fabulous! They are my dog walking boots Grin waterproof AND warm.

MamaGeekChic · 19/12/2012 12:58

They aren't pretty :( but, it's your money and if you like them and can afford them then you don't need anyone to justify it.

bishboschone · 19/12/2012 13:00

Ha bunny .. I have them and love them ..I would recommend trying them on as they come up smaller than sheepskin. I'm afraid I love uggs and these are my 5 th pair .

crikeybill · 19/12/2012 13:01

Well that's just it. I have been given the money to buy myself something. Its not my money as such. I haven't bought myself anything nice in a long time that was just for me and not kids or house.

Oh well I'm clearly waaaay out of style then Sad

For that investment, you can get a bespoke pair of boots.
Which I would seriously consider.
No offense, but those boots don't look expensive.

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 19/12/2012 13:02

I would pay that money for a really gorgeous pair of boots.

I wouldn't for those but hey, if you like them and can afford them go for it :)

Blu · 19/12/2012 13:03

If I had the money to spend on good outdoor, sturdy warm waterproof boots I would love those, I think they're great.

Blu · 19/12/2012 13:05

I think they do look expensive. You can tell cheap outdoor boots with dodgy cheap leather which will not be waterproof, and will age badly.

SledsImOn · 19/12/2012 13:05

I have got some old ones of these: Locarno Uggs.

They are very comfy but not terribly waterproof - they get white marks on them if you wear them in the snow.

I also feel like santa in them Xmas Smile

Blu · 19/12/2012 13:07

But I want a pair of these Grin

Depends what you want out of your boots. Biker boots look great, I think, and the Uggs look comfier and warmer.

permaquandry · 19/12/2012 13:07

Uggs are lovely and toastie, wouldn't be without mine and I think they look cute with skinnies. They are a good choice because they are leather. Go for it, I don't think u'll regret. My only thinking is that these might go down in the sales as they are a fashion style, and not classics?

More importantly, I saw a lady with these on this morning, I clocked then and thought that I have never seen that style of Uggs before. Isn't that a coincidence? It's fate!

Treat yourself.

TheGashlycrumbTinies · 19/12/2012 13:09

I have 2 pairs of UGG knee length leather boots, and they are lovely, and worth the money.

These In black and a similar pair in brown, they are very un-UGGish.

UGG do have lots of really nice long leather boots, it's your money, you choose Xmas Smile

bishboschone · 19/12/2012 13:09

I honestly don't think they look like they cost £235 but I like the way they look and they are soooo comfy on my feet which won't really tolerate proper shoes as such . I am a sahm and I don't need smart clothes . I wear them with skinny jeans and casual tops . They are so oo warm and comfy and suit my lifestyle .

Blu · 19/12/2012 13:12

BoiledEgg - but those don't have chunky deep ridged soles for bad rain and snow etc.

bishboschone · 19/12/2012 13:13

I love those boiled !! Alas I'm titchy so they would be too long . I'm going to get ugg Gillespie for Christmas present .

TheCraicDealer · 19/12/2012 13:13

I love my Uggs. Ok, so they aren't the most attractive shoe in the world but I like them! And some of the new styles and very nice.

Asos have started their sale early, and these are pretty nice and well reduced. I'm tempted!

LaCiccolina · 19/12/2012 13:15

Er rather easy. Start jan 1st and decide how many days u could wear them, then divide by cost to give u a rough cost per day worn type of thing.

Eg 4wks to a month, can only wear weekends. Roughly 6 days. U might get to May which is 32 days. U will stop over summer, so restart at oct for 3mths another 18 days approx. that's very roughly 50 days. 235/50=£4.70 a day.

This assumes u actually wear them not buy another shoe coz ur mood changes!

CointreauVersial · 19/12/2012 13:18

I wouldn't pay £235 for any pair of boots, to be honest, but if you can afford it, and you think you'll get a lot of wear out of them, why not?

They aren't my favourite style, but certainly nicer than those club-foot Uggs which dissolve at the first sign of rain.

bishboschone · 19/12/2012 13:18

I definitely get my money's worth from them . I have worn them most days since October and will continue to do so until about march and then next year . I have been wearing uggs for years and don't intend to stop .

Pagwatch · 19/12/2012 13:30

If you like them and you have the cash of course you should treat yourself.

Smile merry Chistmas

Chottie · 19/12/2012 13:32

I think they are lovely and a really useful boot. You can wear them with jeans, leggings, dresses with chunky tights. Brown is a good colour too. And, you will have warm and dry feet in winter

lifeintheolddogyet · 19/12/2012 13:33

I spent similar on my winter boots and I wear them every day. Not exactly dog walkers but good for weekend, work etc etc. If they're going to last more than one winter too, definitely.

crikeybill · 19/12/2012 13:36

Thank you Smile I might still go for it.
DH thinks i'm insane but I do like them. They might be vile to some but I suppose we're all different. I mean I hate the ordinary Ugg boots. They look like giant slippers to me.
Only thing i'm worried about is I have quite fat chunky calves. Am hoping they will fit !!
