Can I justify this much on a pair of boots ?

I have my eye on a pair of Noira Ugg boots.
They aren't the hideous slipper type ones they are actually leather. I have been given the money as a christmas present so don't want to get them if they aren't worth the money.

Anyone have any experience ??

I love them! These Gershwin uggs are on my crimson list

bishboschone · 19/12/2012 13:39

They don't come over the calf so that won't be a problem . Please go and try them though as they are snug . The sheepskin flattens though after a while .

HousewifefromBethlehem · 19/12/2012 13:39

*crimbo!!

bishboschone · 19/12/2012 13:40

House wife.. I have debated gershwins but I tried them and felt they were a little bit welly like .

HousewifefromBethlehem · 19/12/2012 13:44

Well yes I kind of agree bish but they are for dog walking and wet/cold so hopefully they'll be okay for that!

picnicbasketcase · 19/12/2012 13:44

I would need to be deeply in love with and unable to live without a pair of shoes or boots to consider spending any more than £50 on them. But if you love them and have the money, why not.

anothercuppaplease · 19/12/2012 13:44

This is what I would buy if I'd have £100 to spend on a pair of boots. They absolutely top.

anothercuppaplease · 19/12/2012 13:45

It would help if I'd put the link. www.sportsdirect.com/merrell-oslo-waterproof-ladies-boots-276057

HousewifefromBethlehem · 19/12/2012 13:46

And I've got lots Xmas Blush of 'ordinary' uggs so wanted something a bit different. I'm just deciding actually which pair to demote to slippers next. Honestly, you cannot destroy these things!!

FunnysFuckingFreezing · 19/12/2012 13:46

I think they are lovely and if you have the money defo treat yourself. I bought some Fly boots a couple of years ago which were quite similar and have lived in them at the weekends

bishboschone · 19/12/2012 13:47

Ah yes well in that case you will be the smartest dog walker around .

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 19/12/2012 13:47

It's Christmas money so you must spend it on something you love. Simple. Enjoy the boots or whatever you buy!

bishboschone · 19/12/2012 13:48

Housewife ... My first pair are 5 years old now and have just started to wear trough the sole . They have been through the wash about ten times and been wet and worn for 12 hours plus a day . They are very hard wearing!

Narked · 19/12/2012 13:48

Uggs are a bit marmite. If you love them, get them. If you don't, don't. A good lump of the price tag is in the name, so you need to love them.

Callisto · 19/12/2012 13:49

Loathe Uggs. They are the most hideous footwear ever with the possible exception of Crocs. Why would anyone wear them under any circumstances ever?

You can buy warm and comfortable boots that are also lovely. I've got some tough and warm Timberlands that cost the best part of £200 last year but they are also gorgeous and I love wearing them and despite wearing them most days in some pretty wet and muddy conditions at times, they still look as good as new.

Junebugjr · 19/12/2012 13:50

I have these!

Their not the most gorgeous things in the world, but their comfy, warm and casual. Perfect for day to day running around. I smarten up for work, so want to be casual and comfortable on days off with the kids. It's worth spending a bit more on day to day casual boots if your going to be in them a lot.

Narked · 19/12/2012 13:50

Have you tried them on?

Roseformeplease · 19/12/2012 13:54

I have these www.amazon.co.uk/Ladies-Womens-Rocket-Brown-Vintage/dp/B009DJ0XWO/ref=sr_1_92?ie=UTF8&qid=1355925163&sr=8-92

but an older model by Rocket Dog. They are brilliant - cosy and warm, waterproof and hard wearing but a fraction of the price. That way you can have more than one thing!

Ephiny · 19/12/2012 13:55

Yes, but not those boots, or any clumpy-looking casual/dog-walking boots. You can get perfectly good warm, waterproof boots from Merrell or Keen or similar for a good £100 less.

rockinaroundthebadtasteflump · 19/12/2012 13:56

I like them actually - but I wouldn't pay that much. I have never bought Uggs so have no experience, but they are nice. I really don't like the 'usual' Uggs.

MadSleighLady · 19/12/2012 14:04

Try them on and see what they look like. I have quite chunky calves too, and a short boot that digs in to the beginning of the calf can make me look like I'm much bigger than I am and like I've been stuffed into them!

I got these a month ago for running around everyday purposes, mainly because the top leaves a bit of room around my leg.

scottishmummy · 19/12/2012 14:06

uggs are ghastly on aesthetics alone I'd say no.£1 too much for those monsters
I've paid more for boots, but they are classic leather, uggs certainly aren't classic
if you're after classic leather try carvela, Russell and bromley, house of frasers

SunnyUpNorth · 19/12/2012 14:11

My sister has these . They are quite similar to the ones you are thinking about but half the price and they are very sturdy and cosy. I imagine they will last years and be good in all weather.

bishboschone · 19/12/2012 14:16

Sunny .. I tried those on but they were no where near as comfy as noiras .

Lavendersbluedillydilly1969 · 19/12/2012 14:25

I'm getting a pair of Noiras for Christmas and I can't wait. They might not be the prettiest boots ever but they're warm, waterproof and lovely to walk in, everything I want in a boot.
