So I m up for a little Xmas weight loss! Basically, I know at Xmas I put on weight so want to be well below my 'buffer zone' to enable me to join the festivities. Also want to look good in my Christmas party wear!
Useless on my own, need support to keep me on track!
Anyone in.............

Put on half a pound since yesterday Sad

Am hoping it's just water fluctuations. Best stay off the bread today and do the shred which I ended up not doing yesterday, because i absolutely HAD to go shopping!

HelgatheHairy · 04/12/2012 08:51

quinn that was me last week. Have no real advice as I just gave in. Not worth it though as ended up feeling crap. I'd advise lots of hot drinks ( not sure why but seems to help a bit)

sweetheart · 04/12/2012 09:50

Morning,

Asparagus, where were you to eat all that? Was it out of your control on a night out or was that just at home?

I weighed this morning and have lost 2Ibs since last Tuesday - was today weigh day?!?!?! I've got 3Ibs to go to my target but not sure I'll get there with all the meals out that are coming up! I'll be lucky to maintain!

Everyone seems to have lost their mojo a bit - stay positive and focused guys - 1 bad meal or night out DOES NOT have to ruin your whole week but it will if you let it!

xXx

Hia, how is everyone doing their weight loss? have been trying to low carb, and am really struggling this time, it's soooooo hard, would ideally like to lose a stone (not before xmas I'm sure!)

musttidyupBeforeSantaComes · 04/12/2012 10:27

Well the weekend of indulgence has shown up and I'm back to square one. Boo. So no loss for me. Promise to be better this week. Zumba tonight too.

Madmog · 04/12/2012 11:34

I've just done my weigh in after a week of being careful (not calorie counting) and I'm happy to say I've lost 3lbs. I've got 3 Xmas meals coming up over the next two weeks so that's a nice boost as I know I won't keep it up.

Anyone else weighed themself?

Joycey29 · 04/12/2012 12:00

Well blow me down! I ve lost 3lb! An so chuffed just 4 more to go but back in my buffer and determined to stay in the zone!
Christmas meals - bring it on!! Grin

sweetheart I was at a work's Xmas party in someone's house, so tons of nibbles around as well as main meal served. The chocolate log was just delicious. I resisted it for an hour - but crumbled in the end! My willpower just goes to pot when yummy food is right in front of me.

alien I'm trying to lose weight by low GI/low GL principles. So cutting down on carbs unless they're whole grain. I find it pretty effective....unless someone puts an Xmas log in front of me!

madmog I weighed myself today. I'd lost 5lb in two weeks since starting with the low GI eating and MyFitnessPal. But after last night, gone up by a pound, so total weight loss since the start is 4lb.

AsparagusFern · 04/12/2012 13:43

joycey well done! On a roll!

plaingirly · 04/12/2012 17:10

Still feeling motivated!

There was a huge chocolate fudge cake at work today and I wasn't even tempted. Starting to feel like aliens have something to do with this ....

Only thing is I want to weigh myself every day - morning AND evening. I have resisted so far as I don't know if it is a good habit to be getting in to!

ceeveebee · 04/12/2012 20:09

Hi all. I've managed to stay within 1200 calories for 9 days in a row now (as long as I last out tonight) and also did a Tracy Anderson DVD and a gym session over the weekend, feeling very virtuous today!
I've basically ate more or less same as usual just much smaller portions and skipping lattes and puddings.
Not weighed myself yet but hoping for at least 3-4 lb by weekend (in the two weeks)

sweetheart · 04/12/2012 20:30

I have lots of calories left today so was going to have a Asda cookie. I thought I'd just check it on mfp and found it had over 250 calories in it Xmas Shock I had enough to cover it but out it back, I'm not wasting that many cals on that! Never thought I'd say that Xmas Wink

twolittlemonkeys · 04/12/2012 20:46

Urgh I've had a horrendous week - Thurs was DH's 40th and we've had various celebratory meals out on several occasions, plus the weekend at my DM's house with her trying to feed us all sorts of treats. I feel heavy and bloated. The past 2 days I have had a lot less sugar and dairy than normal (cut down on the hot chocolate, biscuits, chocolates - all my comfort foods!) and feel a bit better. I restocked the fruit bowl and am trying to retrain myself to reach for that instead of the chocolate cupboard... yes I do have almost an entire kitchen cupboard filled with chocolate and treats Blush

Movingforward123 · 04/12/2012 20:50

Hey everyone Smile

Well I started last Monday at 10.6 stone SadSadSad

Goal weight is 9 stone Confused

On Sunday I weighed 9.13.6 an was joyed Smile bit was majorly hungover and stayed in bed until 4pm and barely drank and hadn't eaten all day.

Yesterday was 10.2.2 and today 10.1.4 Smile I have been going over my 1200 calories abit some days but not too much over.

So total weightless in 8days is 5lbs SmileSmile

If I managed to get down to 9.7 Quickly i would be over the moon!

Movingforward123 · 04/12/2012 20:54

By my calculations I should be 9.10 by Xmas!

Also I have done shred before and after doing it for 10 days in a row, I lost 2 inches off my waist and hips each which was great but I didn't keep it up! I haven't been exercising for a few weeks and need to get back into it.

I'm also trying to go as low gi as possible, that means seedy bread, brown rice, I havnt bought brown pasta yet.

And in the last 8 days I have only had one bar of chocolate! Shocking for me, I'm so glad Smile as normally I'm dying for it and I'm able to say no right now Smile

AsparagusFern · 04/12/2012 21:39

movingforward If you're doing low GI, I don't know about you but I struggle a bit with the taste of brown pasta....it's just so bleurgh.

My top tip is fettucine - it's low GI but a regular pasta. It's almost identical to tagliatelle, but for some reason is low GI. I'd go for that instead.

For bread, I love rye bread or stoneground bread - harder to find in small supermarkets but the big ones have them. Tesco's do a great one in their finest range. (If you're only eating one slice a day, the extra ££ is not too bad!)

laptopdancer · 05/12/2012 06:47

Weigh in for me and I've lost 6 lb all up. Only 1 lb to the pre xmas half a stone loss and 4 lb to go to my own pre xmas goal.
Thing is, my xmas starts on 18th as I am away that week and then away at xmas. Im so worried all my hard work will be undone. Determined not to!
I think just making sure I eat aboslutely nothing outside of meal times and my running is making a big difference.

Eliza22 · 05/12/2012 08:22

Ok, so it's not a massive weight loss but.....

So far, doing the Couch2 5k (and I've needed to repeat week 1 'cause frankly, it nearly killed me) and the India Knight (go organic/NO low fat or "diet" products) I have lost 4lbs, an average of 2lbs per week.

I'm very pleased with myself!

I eat fairly organic anyway but have chucked out low fat spreads, low fat yoghurts, low fat cheese etc. Have cut down (though its the wrong time of year to cut out) carbs. Still love a chicken tikka masala Grin but eat HALF of the portion I'd normally devour. So, I don't feel like I'm "giving up" and therefore craving, anything.

In the past, I've always "gone on" diets, lost weight and relapsed. It'll take me some time, like this, to lose the 14 - 18 lbs I'd like to lose but, frankly at 50 I'm fed up with traditional "diets". I don't have a huge amount to lose but it's the difference between getting into over half the clothes in my wardrobe comfortably and not feeling sluggish/tired all the time and NOT.

Oh, and red wine? Not giving it up but have cut my consumption by half.

Eliza22 · 05/12/2012 08:25

Oh, and have read the above and really, well done Ladies!!

puggirl · 05/12/2012 08:40

I am religiously filling out MFP and have shifted only a pound so far. I did re read some posts last night and that spurred me on to go out for a run for 35 mins.

Going to try Dime bar today as treat rather than devouring body weight in Malteasers.

Madmog · 05/12/2012 10:24

Agree with Eliza22, well done everyone. We're probably all going to have good and bad weeks weight loss wise or the odd day when we're going to eat more (ie Xmas meals out, just can't resist something), but the main thing if that we remain focussed. I'm eating out with friends on Friday and am going to skip the starter and pudding, but have a glass of wine. Will probably eat more calories than usual that day, but less than I would usually have done on a meal out.

Movingforward123 · 05/12/2012 11:33

Asparagus thanks I will give it a try Smile

Any other low gi tips? I'm having low at youghart and chocolate snack a jacks not sure if they are ok for low gi tho?

Movingforward123 · 05/12/2012 11:33

laptop well done I'm so Envy Smile

laptopdancer · 05/12/2012 12:18

Yoghurt is low Gi, so is a glass of skimmed milk

Thanks movingforward123 :)

fedupofnamechanging · 05/12/2012 15:21

I seem to be stuck at 9.5. Am also really struggling to give up chocolate and just feel hungry all the time.
