Does anybody not like Liz Earle??

I think it is going to have to be done (buying LE that is) - I have been oil cleansing for months now and although my skin is loads better I still get spots Hmm. I know LE has glowing reviews pretty much everywhere but cocoa butter is very comedogenic and eucalyptus can be very irritant for sensitive skin?

Did anyone try it and find it didn't work, or is really a wonderproduct?
thank you

I have very sensitive high-colour skin and it really didn't agree with me. My red cheeks got worse, not better. I think I am very much in the minority though - I've even tried it on two seperate occasions because everyone raves about it so much!

dexter73 · 07/09/2012 09:45

I don't particularly like it. I have tried the face oil - smelt very strong, and the superskin cream - far too greasy. I'm not quite sure why everybody raves about it.

lisaro · 07/09/2012 09:57

Hate it with a passion! Far too heavy and claggy. Reminds me of cheap 70's/80's stuff and ridiculously overpriced (and I don't mind paying for good stuff at all).

GobblersKnob · 07/09/2012 09:58

I hate it and my skin hates it more, it took me ages to get it back to normal after trying it twice.

The company is not what it is dressed up to be at all and not at all 'all natural' it is owned by Avon.

Article here

And from the company itself on why we are all being a bit silly about those pesky chemicals here

There are far nicer, better products out there.

me. The cleaning cream was ok but just like any other, nothing special. Stinks like granny's medicine cabinet. And the cream is really thick gloop, felt actually unpleasant.

Zwitterion · 07/09/2012 10:05

I don't. Did absolutely nothing for me.

Cleanse and polish was ok for me, but I still had "t zone" problems (and I'm not a teenager!). Night oil stuff smells lovely. The superskin products smell disgusting. Just didn't give me results.

I much prefer Elemis and I've actually seen results with clear skin, reduced wrinkles , better tone...and they smell nice.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 07/09/2012 10:12

I like the C&P to remove make-up but on my usual (non make-up ) days I use Philosophy Purity Made Simple and Microdelivery wash.

I detest lavender (literally makes me hurl) and most of the LE products contin it.I know lavender is theraputic, healing, desensitising blardy blardy but that doesn't make my upchuck reflex embrace it.

C&P -love
Light moisturiser- love
Eye serum-love (but not the reflective one)

The Orange Blossom Body Wash smells like furniture polish

IceBergJam · 07/09/2012 10:13

I bought a few items. Only really liked the cleanser, but after I've used it up I think I might re try a Lush product I use to use .

It does make my skin look brighter but I get bored of the whole cleanse and polish and want something I can use in the shower .

CeeceeBloomingdale · 07/09/2012 10:18

I didn't find it very special, infact I've had more success with cheap supermarket own brands.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 07/09/2012 10:22

IceBergJam try the Philosophy (IIRC it's called Microdelivery Exfoliating Wash)

John Lewis sell it, you could test out the texture. I bought a bottle (nearly a litre) with a pump, for £41 (P&P about £4) from QVC last Christmas and I've still got about a third of the bottle left .

I use it in the shower. It foams a bit and the texture feels like theirs fine salt in it.
Doesn't remove heavy make-up, I use it on 'clean morning' skin (make-up removed night before IYSWIM)

Charliefox · 07/09/2012 10:24

Another one who's underwhelmed by it.

Pinot · 07/09/2012 10:29

Ooh interesting.

MadBusLady · 07/09/2012 10:31

Me. Cleanse and polish made my rosacea flare up like blazes, but I persevered and by the end of the first bottle (so 4/5 weeks in) I was noticing blackheads in places I'd never had them before, like my cheeks

I can see why it would be a revelation if you've never used a muslin cloth method before, maybe that's why a lot of people rave about it.

squoosh · 07/09/2012 10:39

Cleanse and Polish was a big fat fail for me, blocked the pores on my cheeks and gave me lots of whiteheads. Though it must have been a faulty batch so bought another one a year later, thought all the hype couldn't be wrong, same thing happened.

I've swerved her products ever since.

JodieHarsh · 07/09/2012 10:44

Someone very very sweetly gave me a gift set of LE stuff.

I should have known better than to use it - my face has basically exploded and I am still suffering weeks later (My skin gets sensitive bumps, they turn into spots, the spots won't heal, then they get a little hard white lump inside and go bright red and irritated, then I scar).

but then, anything harsher than an angel's tears makes my face blow up, so I don't blame LE particularly...

JodieHarsh · 07/09/2012 10:45

Incidentally squoosh it was the Cleanse and Polish taht I think did the worst damage - and also a face mask thingy.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 07/09/2012 10:49

I too was underwhelmed with a free sample of C&P that came with a mag a few months ago. It was OK, but nothing special and I am sticking with my normal Lush products again now.

QuinnFabray · 07/09/2012 10:52

I love cream cleansers and the hot cloth method, but Liz Earle gave me spots, where other cream cleansers don't.

MadBusLady · 07/09/2012 10:56

No, I should have said I love cream cleansers too (and am on OCM now) so it's not that I prefer something more harsh or scrubby.

justtryingtodomybest · 07/09/2012 11:06

I don't actively dislike it - was just a bit underwhelmed. After all the hype I suppose I was expecting miracles. It did a perfectly reasonable job but nothing better than other cheaper products.

AimingForElegant · 07/09/2012 11:11

MadBusLady, I've never used a muslin cloth method before and I do rave about it, because it is much better than other things I've used, but this thread is making me think I should consider other products. So what do I try instead?

EnjoyGOLDResponsibly · 07/09/2012 11:16

Enjoyed the C&P and would recommend.

Did not get on with the moisturiser. Was recommended by LE lady to use the dry skin version. Made skin greasiest ever in life.

LE in John Lewis (Bluewater) do not do testers, so I wasn't prepared to dry the normal skin version without trying first and have instead reverted to Clinique.
