How do you wear your bras?

BedHeadTigi · 25/08/2012 18:44

Do you like to wear them super tight so you know they are there and leave bra marks when you take them off, or have them at a looser more comfortable setting? Im asking this because i have realised all of my old bras are pretty super tight on me, but my new ones are so comfortable and no way as tight but i wonder if they will still support my bust the same?

Oh yes please musttidyup, that would be great! There's a Debenhams in town so I will take a look next week - think they stock the wonderbra too.

SayHelloToMyLittleFriend · 08/09/2012 18:42

I've just measured myself, underneath I'm 30 and over my boobs I'm 34.5. I'm wearing a 34D at the moment but it feels tight (I sometimes look like I have 4 boobs!!) No way can I be an E cup so I thought I'd have to be a 36?

HauntedLittleLunatic · 08/09/2012 18:59

30D I think, possibly 30E

HauntedLittleLunatic · 08/09/2012 19:00

Sorry should have been 30D or 30DD

SayHelloToMyLittleFriend · 08/09/2012 19:38

Thanks, I'm going to have to try some on and see what's the best fit.

HazleNutt · 08/09/2012 19:40

if you have the 4-boob effect then the cup is too small. According to your measurements I would have guessed 30D or DD as well, but as 34D is already small, you might need to go up a few more cup sizes. 34D cup is the same size as 30E.

SayHelloToMyLittleFriend · 08/09/2012 19:49

I'll maybe have to get measured properly. I would never think I could be more than a D cup (this seems big to me after being a B/C before having children) Thanks for the advice.

SorrelForbes · 08/09/2012 19:57

Yep, I'd say 30DD. The cup sounds big to you because you're thinking of a D-DD in a 34/36 band. However, if you measure 30 underneath then you are almost definitely wearing too big a band size. Size down to a 30 and then work up through the cup sizes until you eliminate spillage, quadraboob etc.

SayHelloToMyLittleFriend · 08/09/2012 20:05

Haha I'm loving "quadraboob". I can't believe how wrong I've got my size, I've wasted so much money on bras the past few months trying to get a good fit.

musttidyupmusttidyup · 08/09/2012 21:03

Forpond
debs strapless

modifiedmum · 08/09/2012 21:06

i measue 27 inches under bust and wear a 30f from most places and a 32g from m&S no idea why lol

ComeAlongPond · 08/09/2012 21:50

Ah unfortunately the debenhams one doesn't go small enough in the back but I'll give the wonderbra a try as everyone is saying go up a back size in that. Thank you though.

marriednotdead · 08/09/2012 22:11

For those of you wanting a 28 band strapless, the Freya Deco strapless comes up firmer than most and doesn't squish into the top of your boobs. It's quite a generous fit so if you're between cup sizes, go down. Please note that the model in the link is wearing it at least a cup size too small

I'm still struggling.

I was fitted at debenhams as a 34C. I was happy with that in the changing rooms. Seemed to fit well based on all the guidance on this thread. To be fair I was probably between the B and C cup, both or which I tried but assistant was happier with the C in the t shirt style I chose. Half cups really didn't suit. Bought the bra that I was fitted in and ordered another similar style as didn't have my size in stock.

Wore the bra I was fitted in n by the end of the day it was gaping a bit, particularly when sitting when admittedly I tend to slouch. It was also rubbing a bit around the front where the strap meets the cup, and boobs seem very wide set but maybe that's cos I haven't got the little bit of padding to push them inwards that I usually have.
So a bit disappointed, maybe I am a B after all.

My second set arrived yesterday. They seem a slightly better fit and shape cup wise, but will be going back because the mesh on the cup seems puckered, pulling the rim of the cup into a ridge which is visible under.clothes.

Sigh.

I was going to order the tempt me...but don't think I will bother. Tkmaxx have some wonderbras for £7 which I had avoided as I thought they were shunned on this thread but doesn't seem to be the case in more recent posts. Tesco also have some of there own 'bra queen' brand half price so may pick up a dirty set. I just need to try them on so I get something resembling the right fit.

Huge dejected sigh...

HauntedLittleLunatic · 09/09/2012 12:25

*flirty set not dirty set, but then is there a difference?

musttidyupmusttidyup · 09/09/2012 12:54

haunted I think you should go back to debenhams and return the bra, exchange it for something else. It was 'professionally' fitted and it's not right.
I liked your typo Grin

HauntedLittleLunatic · 09/09/2012 13:01

Thing is it was/is right when I first put on and scoop...it just doesn't stay like that.

Debs didn't really have any lightly padded.options, and the one I selected I was advised against because the strap didn't have a full range of adjustment which I would need.

Think I'm going to head back down to next, whose bras do suit my shape, try a few on with a better awareness of size and shape that suits.

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/09/2012 13:13

Haunted I would definitely take it back if it feels wrong, I have done previously.

How does the back feel - I'm just wondering if it is actually the cup, or if the back is too loose so it's more that it's moving. I know if the back on mine isn't tight enough then scooping doesn't work properly as it all just, well, slides back out!

HauntedLittleLunatic · 09/09/2012 13:38

The back feels snug. I measure 33.5 and.am in 34 on loosest setting as that's what she advised. I could try it tighter?

When she was checking the fit I thought she could stretch it further than I was expecting based on this discussion (i.e. more than 2 fingers) but was comparable to fitting videos I've watched on bravissimo etc.

I don't actually seem to have much to scoop under the arms. My boobs are wide set and splayed and I am very flat in the middle (which is wear a bit of outside edge padding helps), which is wear it is gaping.

HauntedLittleLunatic · 09/09/2012 13:43

I do also have one breast bigger than the other, as usual, which is what my bra was fitted to (hence the B/C between sizes thing), so my bra is going to gape a bit on one side anyway...

SorrelForbes · 11/09/2012 08:48

Hmmm, sounds like a 32 might be the answer. Definitely take the bra back if you're not happy though. Is there a good independant near you?

HauntedLittleLunatic · 11/09/2012 23:51

You could be right.

I have no idea about independents...

I am.keeing the depenhams. Tried it on second hook and seemed better cup wise. It really does chaffe around front of armpit tho. I think its a design thing rather than size thing, the top of the cup where it meets strap is much higher than what I'm used to. The point of attachment is a bit corse as well.

Anyway. I went to my trusted next today. Bras are the only thing I buy there but I do like them. Bought myself a 32D (does this mean I am actually in the D denial club :o ?). This is where I learnt that straps on the debenham are wider and higher than I'm used to. There plunge bras didn't suit...I think i have those sailor boobs with all the fullness in the bottom.

Then I went to tesco as they had some of their 'Bra Queen' brand half price and are very flirty...and as I am embarking on the world of internet dating need something with the wow factor that can also be revealed IYSWIM.

And WOW! could barely get a 32 done up, so went with the 34 in this brand. Tried both C and D and seem to.be between cups, but went with the C as this was closer to proper fit. But WOW, I have cleavage. Proper cleavage. Proper crevice between my boobs, and it is minimally padded too, so mostly my own cleavage.

I was so impressed that I also.bought a plain white t shirt bra. Both lovely and soft. Lower cut around the armpit, and cups cut lower.

I have yet to wear todays purchases for the day...but I could be going back for more while they ate half price.

But wow..I have cleavage!
