How do you wear your bras?

Do you like to wear them super tight so you know they are there and leave bra marks when you take them off, or have them at a looser more comfortable setting? Im asking this because i have realised all of my old bras are pretty super tight on me, but my new ones are so comfortable and no way as tight but i wonder if they will still support my bust the same?

Orange maybe a 30DD or 32D?

HazleNutt · 07/09/2012 14:35

mirai I'd say if you get a noticeable fourboob, you should go up 2 cups.

StatisticallyChallenged · 07/09/2012 14:43

I'd agree with Hazle - for me one cup too small is only a slight bump, proper fourboob is two.

OrangePlumPie · 07/09/2012 16:13

Fuck me a DD????

brighthair · 07/09/2012 16:36

Alibaba - she laughed?! That's disgusting AngryAngry

HazleNutt · 07/09/2012 18:11

Sorrel thanks for PrimaDonna recommendation (I think it was you?) I just got my first PrimaDonna bra and wow. I don't know what exactly it is and while my previous bras were all fine, this is definitely the most comfortable bra I have ever worn. Oh dear, this will be a new and very expensive habit..

marriednotdead · 07/09/2012 19:33

Springhasarrived Is this the version you mean? I have the tshirt version, which I originally tried at R&P. The sizing is miles out though- I've got a 30F and I'm a 32FF on a good day!

musttidyupmusttidyup · 07/09/2012 19:55

Shattered I have a great Chantelle in a 34F, supportive and comfortable and gives a great shape. Kind of moulded but thin iykwim. I linked to it unthread although the one I have in black is slightly different, ,more simple. It was £44 but worth it.

CrunchyFrog · 07/09/2012 20:06

I now have lots of barely worn bras in the wrong size, anyone in need of 34F/FFs to try? Think I have the odd 36E/F as well!

And I'm down to only 3 bras that fit me, will have to go and do a little more shopping soon I think.

Springhasarrived · 07/09/2012 21:04

MarriedNotDead, thanks for that. I've just been investigating and it looks like there are 3 versions of the Melody! The full cup which is the common one and probably what we both have, the plunge and this:

www.herroom.com/empreinte-3886-melody-padded-low-neck-bra.shtml

I would love to try the plunge and the padded as sometimes the full cup version shows under wider necked tops on me. I love the idea of more colours than black or caramel too.

I've been looking on the R & P website. I think I might have to treat myself to a visit.Their own bras look lovely.Smile

musttidyupmusttidyup · 07/09/2012 21:41

Yes me crunchyfrog I seem to be a 32f 32ff 32g 34f 34ff depending on style and brand. Have been pg /bf for 5 years and have lost 4 stone in the last year so all old bras have gone to Senegal and I'm down to 2!

musttidyupmusttidyup · 07/09/2012 21:43

Btw all, don't know if any of you're like me in that I am so used to warring a bra to bed after nursing for years that I feel odd without one. Those comfort bras are great for nighttime - I just bought a pack of 3 from eBay for about -£8 and they are just the ticket for lounging/ night.

ComeAlongPond · 07/09/2012 22:44

Can anyone recommend a good plain black bra, preferably strapless/removable straps, ideally with some padding and ability to make lovely cleavage, in a 28d/28dd? Trying to kill a few birds with one stone in the interest of cost-saving, seeing as everything I own has been culled, and I really need a strapless bra and a plain black bra. (Also I've just ordered a lovely black strapless cocktail dress and now I've got nothing to wear under it.)

StatisticallyChallenged · 07/09/2012 22:59

I'd recommend trying the Wonderbra ultimate strapless - link

it's not multiway but it is amazing and gives proper cleavage. It doesn't start until a 30 but I know a few people with it (myself included) and we all had to go up in the back and down in cup (it's available in lots of places, that was just first link I found)

mirai I'm also in Asia & order all of my bras from ASOS (free worldwide delivery) or Figleaves (deliver to Asia for £5.50). Might be worth seeing if there's anything on those sites.

HazleNutt · 08/09/2012 07:27

ComeAlong, I agree with Statistically - as strapless bras go, the wonderbra one is the best. I don't think I would like to wear it as an everyday bra though.

musttidy, I like some support at night too, usually wear Bravissimo or other similar PJ tops with support.

SpicyPear · 08/09/2012 11:42

So my exchange bras arrived this morning and I have gone from a 34c to a 34e because of this thread. Have also learnt that I need high sides as my boobs are separated! Thank you so much.

Just showed DH two new bras and he says, "they're better, you're not spilling out"! I was clearly in pretty deep D+ denial and am now saved!

bacon · 08/09/2012 11:56

I was wearing 40B from M&S for ages. I have east and west pointing boobs with wide looking gap inbetween. I bought a lovely bra from the M&S autograph collection in the week 38B which is perfect.

I;m still confused as my under bust is 36 and 40 bust. No way on this earth can I sqeeze my wide frame into a 36! I have tried a c cup but always too huge. So from this information would you assertain that I'm wearing the correct size?

I'm close to Cardiff so where do you think is the best place to go for sizing? JL?

My biggest problem is slidding straps and is nothing to do with fit. My shoulders slope hence the non-elastic straps slip off - I wonder if there is a slice of fabric I could sew under straps to get more grip of skin?

ComeAlongPond · 08/09/2012 12:03

Thank you! Not to worry if it can't be worn every day, it's not the end of the world. I'm just trying to spend as little as possible because I've got to replace the entire collection. Will check out wonderbra in the 30 - will try it in a d and a c if going down a cup, if I'm between a d and a dd, thank you.

musttidyupmusttidyup · 08/09/2012 13:52

bacon its really worth trying to find a comfy 36 because the straps will be closer together and less likely to slip. Try and find one with that sort of non slip stuff on too.

musttidyupmusttidyup · 08/09/2012 13:53

pond I didn't get along with the strapless wonderbra but loved the debenhams own one. I can link if you need me too. Think it's only about £20 too.

SorrelForbes · 08/09/2012 13:57

Bacon - yes, as mum says, try a 36. I suggest a 36D. The bigger cup will make the band feel less tight (strange but true!). I can't get a 30e done up but a 30G is fine. The cup on a 38C would be wrong as the volume of the cup is relative to the band size.

Try a 36 on back to front, it it feels tight but bearable then that is your band size (it might differ slightly between brands). Then go up through the cups until you find one that eliminates any spillage at the front, side and back.

SorrelForbes · 08/09/2012 13:58

Good news Spicy!

SorrelForbes · 08/09/2012 16:44

Just popped into John Lewis at Cribbs Causeway for something boring and decided to have a look in the lingerie department. Very disappointing indeed. A very small range of makes, styles and sizes. I only managed to find one bra in my size! John Lewis at Southampton is much better.
