I saw a thread on MN a few months ago called princessing (although I eeeked at the title!) Anyway the fundamentals still looked solid so I am going to live by the principles and I could really do with some buddies Grin

Here are the principles. I have written them down and pinned them up in my kitchen...... (hoping that will help me stick to it Hmm)

  1. 8 glasses of water a day
  2. Exfoliate
  3. Use teeth whitener
  4. Use anti-aging face cream
  5. Intensive nail care (feet and hands)
  6. Use eyelash growth serum OR eye cream.
  7. The Shred / other intensive exercise
  8. At least 2 extra fruit & veg
  9. Healthy breakfast daily
10. Hair oil (moroccan hair oil for eg, or kerastase etc) 11. No alcohol during the week 12. Daily vitamins 13. Body brushing 14. At least 2 servings of salmon or other fatty fish per week. 15. One early night once a week. Suggest 9PM. 16. Regular hair removal 17. Give up one naughty favourite item e.g. chocolate/crisps 18. No more fizzy drinks 19. DAILY body moisturising 20. Warm water with lemon first thing in the a.m.

OK - I'm in - apart from teeth whitener! I have a front crown shaded to match my teeth and apparently the whitener will bleach the others and leave it the colour it is so would look rather odd.

The exercise and extra sleep are the ones I really need and I also need to sort out my hair - grey is taking over at the front and I haven't had the energy to sort it out - will do this weekend.

Rather then giving up one naughty item I will give up evening snacking in general.

whackamole · 04/07/2012 00:34

I should....but I am too busy right now and I know I wouldn't stick to it. it has nothing to do with no will power

Trish1200 · 04/07/2012 00:40

I'm in Smile

NoOnePutsBabyInTheCorner · 04/07/2012 01:51

Count me in, funny I was just thinking about the princessing thread and came to s&b to find itGrin

When do we start? hope I am this eager by day 4

StrokemyForehead · 04/07/2012 07:24

Great !

I am starting today.

I don't really need to get rid of any weight but I need to look better generally. For me I need to kick the sneaky wines into touch in the week and I need to up the exercise.

The other stuff I am hoping will help me looked more polished and less like a straggly person on the school run Grin

Joined a local netball on Monday which is a good start.

I can't eat dairy so I don't eat choc etc but I am going to give up sugar in my tea and coffee (that might be quite hard)

I'm in!

I don't need to lose weight but do need to sort out my thighs and bottom which are one of the finest examples of cellulite you could ever hope to see Hmm. I have appalling circulation so exercise, no wine and more water is going to be very good for me indeed.

I try and fit in beauty treatments around the DCs. For example, when they are in the bath I will tweeze my brows or slap on a face mask. It seems a bit daft but for me the less effort I appear to have to put in the more likely I am to stick to a regime. So fitting these things into my regular day is always more effective than say putting aside an evening to do it - there will always be an excuse not to do something.

AWomanCalledHorse · 04/07/2012 07:34

I'm in if I can take out 3-6?

I'm back at my pre-baby weight but I'm a large ball of flab instead of toned & in shape...and I look like death warmed up most days.

StrokemyForehead · 04/07/2012 07:45

tweak the list however you want in my opinion, I think the general gist is that we improve on what we have by looking after ourselves regularly (not necessarily through weight loss)

I have lost all my baby weight too and I thought that as soon as I got to magic goal weight my hair would be glossy/ eyes would be bright and I would look all bouncy and perky - lol that has not happened. I just look thinner and everything is a bit saggy now Grin

StrokemyForehead · 04/07/2012 07:47

I have started btw.

I have had a healthy cereal. my warm water and lemon and a banana

OP posts:
Elefant1 · 04/07/2012 14:06

I'm in too.
Have been trying to be healthier this week so have already started some of these, I was thinking I should do more, this thread is great timing.
Will start on Saturday as I have some shopping to do first!

StrokemyForehead · 04/07/2012 20:45

Day 1 has gone well. I ran 3 miles and drank my water quota (yay! always a chore for me !)

No sugar in my cups of tea either Smile

Getting my early night tonight - 9pm, but going to paint my toenails and moisturise first

De-lurks,

You know what I have found good for not drinking alcohol? taking msm tablets. They are a sulphur type tablet but when I take them I dont want alcohol, or I do but I dont want iyswim.

  1. Kippers are really good for this one, either as a supper with pilau rice and scrambelled eggs or a breakfast with scrambelled eggs and toast. Keeps you full all morning.

  2. Aldi do a body lotion in a blue bottle with a white lid, very easily absorped and no parabens or mineral oil. I use it twice a day and it's very good.

  3. check your hair oil isnt silicone (dimethicone) based, you can get pure argan oil V cheaply on the internet. I get my kerastase and loreal professional products via quidco so I can kid myself it's cheaper.

  4. brewers yeast is good for b vitamins and also selenium which is good for you (I forget why). Not the de-bittered one though (no selenium). It's got other things in it too. I've been taking it so long I forget why I take things.

  5. Sugar causes damage to cells by making them "tough" so if I want choc (allergic to milk) I get the 85% cocoa one in aldi, it only has 16gms of sugar per 100, which is really low.

Can I suggest a 21? wear a daily sunscreen. I use clinique city block 40, it has more antioxidants than the 25spf. It must work because people think DH is my dad.

NoOnePutsBabyInTheCorner · 04/07/2012 22:15

I'm working nights tonight so will start tomorrow.

  1. what are you all using? clueless on this one.

  2. I will knock the dust off the shred in the morning and take the wrapper off and will even do it so help me god. at 15 stone I may die Grin

  3. does tied tuna count. hate fish.

  4. is veet better than a razor, does it give longer lasting result. I might even consider my fanjo

  5. will kill me. I am the diet coke queen.

  6. will get lemons in the morning.

Charliefox · 04/07/2012 22:51

I can answer 14 - yes tinned tuna counts :-)

NoOnePutsBabyInTheCorner · 04/07/2012 23:31

oh good, I already have 14 covered then.

StrokemyForehead · 05/07/2012 10:24

Baby

  1. I have quite thick eyelashes as it is, so I am using up all my free clinique samples of eye creams

  2. I can't get on with hair removal creams so its razors for me all the way Grin. I use baby oil when I shave as it helps to really get a smooth glossy finish.

great post fluffy I agree about the sunscreen I need to invest in my skin as I worry that i will look like a prune in a few years time.

Well i went to bed really early and woke up at 5 am wide awake Grin not sure if it did me any good !!

I need to lose 3 stone and have started eating a healthier, lower calorie diet. I've noticed that since I have drastically reduced the amount of sugar in my diet (used to have sugar in coffee, ate sugary cereals/lots of biscuits etc) I am looking much less pasty and feel better. I haven't cut it out completely though (can't resist my daily curlywurly).

Have also started daily body moisturising, regularly doing my nails (hands as well as feet), epilating my legs, eating fruit and veg every day, vitamins.

I have added, buying contact lenses and a few new items of clothing (to tide me over while I lose weight), so I don't feel like a total scruff at the school gate.

NoOnePutsBabyInTheCorner · 05/07/2012 14:49

OMG I have just finished the first day of the shred, I mean finished it. I'm so make up with myself. After reading about it forever on MN it seemed to be one of those thing I wanted to do but never though I could. I have never been fit or sporty and at 15 stone I thought I would only manage the warm up. So happy and a bit sore, god only knows how I will feel tomorrow anyway this is not a shred thread so back to the point.

SMF I will try the baby oil now, will let you know how I get on. Good for you running three miles.

Fluffy will do the sun cream too.

I'm going to add a bit of fake tan to my list too. Feeling very pasty.

Karma I also have 3 stone to loose. I have made a conscious decision not to weight myself though as every time I loose a stone I start to congratulate myself with food, then it all goes wrong. I'm going to try 3 balanced meals a day and fruit for snacks. have tried everything else

NotMostPeople · 05/07/2012 14:54

Can I sugest that those of you who want to lose weight join us on BIWI's bootcamp thread? Not only is it easy (I've lost 17lbs) but my hair & skin are so much better, I sleep better and have lots more energy.

You won't get that going low calorie.

silver73 · 05/07/2012 15:13

Oh count me in love the sound of this. I will find giving up pepsi max very hard.

Will start 30 day shred today. Any ideas about what eyelash serum to use?

I'm not a fan of fish but will try. Does taking 6 Eye Q oils a day count?

silver73 · 05/07/2012 15:42

After seeing the post about knees and 30 day Shred think I will stick with Super Callanetics instead of 30 day Shred.

naturelover · 05/07/2012 16:41

silver73 I have been doing 10 years younger in 10 hours callanetics for a few months now - would you recommend I upgrade to the Super Callanetics dvd? I have been impressed with the changes but am starting to get a little bored of the routine.
Thanks!

NoOnePutsBabyInTheCorner · 05/07/2012 16:49

silver, I have no idea of eyelash serum either, I think you can do any workout as long as we do something. I wanted to do the shred as it had been taunting me for months.

I think it is more about looking after yourself at least that's the way I'm looking at it. welcome btw.

fedupofnamechanging · 05/07/2012 16:50

Have had a look at the bootcamp thread and am trying to apply some of the rules, within my calorie counting - have cut out rice/pasta/bread and seriously cut down on my sugar intake. I think the bootcamp is a bit too hardcore for me - am a proper carb lover, so have to break myself in slowly, rather than go cold turkey on all the things I love!

silver73 · 05/07/2012 17:05

Naturelover - I went from 10/10 then started using Super Callanetics when I felt my body could take it. Super Callanetics has some extra exercises in it but I just do what I can and build on my strength. I am also using Tracy Anderson for arms as her exercises don't bulk the arms up and I feel that I need more arm exercises than Callanetics gives me.

NoOnePuts - I think you are right. It is about doing something and I'm trying to may exercise a habit. I love Jillian but don't want to risk knee problems.

Anyone doing/thinking about doing facial exercise? I have got Carole Maggio DVD and have just started it today.
