I saw a thread on MN a few months ago called princessing (although I eeeked at the title!) Anyway the fundamentals still looked solid so I am going to live by the principles and I could really do with some buddies Grin

Here are the principles. I have written them down and pinned them up in my kitchen...... (hoping that will help me stick to it Hmm)

  1. 8 glasses of water a day
  2. Exfoliate
  3. Use teeth whitener
  4. Use anti-aging face cream
  5. Intensive nail care (feet and hands)
  6. Use eyelash growth serum OR eye cream.
  7. The Shred / other intensive exercise
  8. At least 2 extra fruit & veg
  9. Healthy breakfast daily
10. Hair oil (moroccan hair oil for eg, or kerastase etc) 11. No alcohol during the week 12. Daily vitamins 13. Body brushing 14. At least 2 servings of salmon or other fatty fish per week. 15. One early night once a week. Suggest 9PM. 16. Regular hair removal 17. Give up one naughty favourite item e.g. chocolate/crisps 18. No more fizzy drinks 19. DAILY body moisturising 20. Warm water with lemon first thing in the a.m.

If you want the fish oils tinned tuna doesnt have any, the processing removes it. Fresh tuna has it (vom).

Flaxseeds or flaxseed oil is good too, I used to mix them with yoghurt and fruit.

Ryoko · 05/07/2012 17:23

Hmmm

X1. 8 glasses of water a day. Thats a myth any liquid will count towards that.
/2. Exfoliate. All ready doing that so I tick that
X3. Use teeth whitener. no thanks makes them sensitive.
X4. Use anti-aging face cream. Not covering my face in chemicals.
/5. Intensive nail care (feet and hands). all ready on that.
X6. Use eyelash growth serum OR eye cream. again no chemicals.
/7. The Shred / other intensive exercise. all ready on it.
X8. At least 2 extra fruit & veg. unproven myths again.
/9. Healthy breakfast daily. Doing that anyway.
/10. Hair oil (moroccan hair oil for eg, or kerastase etc). using Almond oil.
X11. No alcohol during the week. FUCK THAT!.
/12. Daily vitamins. All ready on it.
?13. Body brushing what?.
/14. At least 2 servings of salmon or other fatty fish per week. I'm trying.
X15. One early night once a week. Suggest 9PM. No way.
/16. Regular hair removal. All ready on it.
/17. Give up one naughty favourite item e.g. chocolate/crisps. don't eat it so.
X18. No more fizzy drinks. Again FUCK THAT!
/19. DAILY body moisturising. I'm on it (with almond oil).
X20. Warm water with lemon first thing in the a.m. No, just no.

So I'm doing/willing to do 10 of those things am I allowed in the club?

StrokemyForehead · 06/07/2012 08:04

Hi Ryoko your post made me Grin you can do whatever you want. I think other people have touched on it earlier up thread but its all about basically doing things that we are comfortable with that will improve on what we already have.

so to answer your question you can come and be in our club Smile

I am going to try and do another 3 miler today - although it looks a little wet at the moment so will see what the rain does this afternoon.

I found some multi vits too lurking in the back on the cupboard - bonus.

Baby well done on the shred I have that too and it really helped me last year. I really like the workout but boy its hard work Hmm

  1. Invest in a silk pillowcase so your newly plumped pampered skin doesnt get dried out on the cotton pillowcase. Plus you wont get a big crease mark down you face in the mornings that's still there at 5pm.

I bought this before I got married two years ago

anniewoo · 06/07/2012 18:44

I do a lot of that stuff and I'm no princess Grin

SiliBiliMili · 06/07/2012 19:31

StrokemyForehead · 09/07/2012 10:19

Morning!!

I had a bit of a blow out over the weekend and had too much wine so I feel a bit guilty about that (but then again the rules say you can have a drink at the weekend right so its all good?! Confused).

I am eating loads of fish which I love so that's not really a hardship and I am making my own soups for lunch which are great and helping me to get all my 5 a day.

Silver... The 15% glycolic acid cream is this stuff good?

I have some exfoliating gloves from boots which I use of my body in the shower on damp skin, this is what I am doing for body brushing anyway but I am not sure if this is right.

Need to drink more water.

  1. What does intensive nail care mean?

I already do most of the other stuff but my hands and feet are a disgrace.

My feet are ruined from running (only have 7 nails currently following London Marathon in April)

Whilst I feel I have a decent excuse Blush for my feet, my hands....I have really thick cuticles, but if I push them back, even after a bath and/or using cuticle cream they get all ragged and split. It would be lovely to have a regular professional manicure, but unfortunately, that's not going to happen. What can I do to improve things?

  1. What function does the lemon have? I already drink my water warm, after weaning myself of around a dozen cups of tea a day.

I'm so ordering that pillowcase!

Can I make an adjustment to point 20? Warm water is a good way to start the day to flush out and wake up the kidneys but best to leave out the lemon juice. Citric acid can irritate the stomach lining but also it softens tooth enamel.

You shouldn't brush your teeth for at least half an hr after drinking or consuming anything citric as you'll be brushing away tooth enamel along with the plaque.

But the rest sounds fab, I'm in!

ujjayi · 09/07/2012 21:46

Ok so I was crap last week after suffering a major PMS setback. But I am starting again this week with a more positive outlook :o

I found some quick body sculpting exercises in July's edition of Glamour which are fab and take 5 minutes. I am resolved to do them whilst watching East Enders in the evening. Happy to share if anyone is interested.

Tomorrow I am cleaning out my bathroom cabinet to determine what lotions and potions I have and actually start using the damn things.

Have been using Soap & Glory Sit Tight for the last week and I am loving it.

Slathered a Kerastase treatment on my hair this morning whilst I made packed lunches for DCs and rinsed before school run. I have fine, dry hair but have noticed a real difference in texture since I stopped blowdrying it 6 weeks ago. It has gone from dry frizzy ends to smooth with lots more body and gentle "beachy" waves.

How's everyone else doing?

Jinsei · 09/07/2012 23:57

Wow!! I have just found I am part of your Princess Club. I am doing most of those things because I have got my birthday party coming up and the big beauty bonanza started a week ago. I am so excited to find other people are doing this sort of thing too!!

Giggle78 · 10/07/2012 22:05

Oh but my list includes a lot of fake tan. I am sitting here in my tangrow right now. So I look more like a beast than a beauty at this moment!

silver73 · 10/07/2012 22:11

StrokeMyForehead - the 15% cream is fab. Here is the link www.bravuralondon.com/moisturise/dry-mature.html

LolaAnn · 10/07/2012 22:37

Alright stupid list motivated me to do a DIY mani pedi tonight. Nails currently looking fab with coral on nails and darker coral red on toes... how long will it last! Also managed to book a hair appointment for tomorrow, I haven't had my hair done for (wait for it..) 8 MONTHS!!! It is long so doesn't need much doing but I have lighter blonde highlights and I can't freakin wait!!!!

Giggle78 am also a fake tan addict... Although only doing arms/chest/face in this weather!

StrokemyForehead · 11/07/2012 09:31

I am trying to give up the sunbeds, so I need a fake tan guru to tell me what they put on their face - something that does not cause break outs as I am prone to them Sad

Thanks for that link silver I will check that out.

issimma don't let yourself be sabotaged Grin

I am actually tarting to feel a lot better about myself and think this is doing some good, at least psychologically (not sure if the results are visible to the naked eye yet Hmm)

Played a hard game of netball on Monday and I have been aching ever since and I am off for a 4 mile run today.

Keep it Up!!!

I'd like to join please!

Can I ask a question about using moroccan/argan/almond oil on your hair?

What do you do with this? Wash your hair and then smother it in oil and then shampoo again? Applyit to dry hair? Leave it overnight? Wrap your hair in clingfilm and leave it for a bit?

My hair looks really dull and drab at the moment. I don't like using synthetic, silicone based products, so a natural oil that can be bought for a sensible price sounds ideal.

StrokemyForehead · 11/07/2012 19:29

Hi Fieldette
I use Argan oil and I got it from superdrug last year for about £10 and its still got a bit left in.

I use it on wet hair and then smooth a tiny bit over dry hair should it feel a bit dry and frazzled. I really notice a huge difference in my hair when I use it regularly.

OP posts:
LolaAnn · 13/07/2012 00:15

I'm prone to breakouts too but I find applying my normal tan (st moritz or st tropez) with a mitt that I pop in the wash every so often saves my skin.
