Don't see why not. I wore one to my friend's wedding but only 'cos I thought the marriage was doomed...turned out I was right !

nice dress btw

starlover · 28/02/2006 15:11

pmsl podkin! my ex-aunt wore a black dress to her OWN wedding! that was also doomed.

think it's ok if you're a guest though

MissChief · 28/02/2006 15:12

nailpolish · 28/02/2006 15:12

..so I AM doomed then..

nailpolish · 28/02/2006 15:12

MissChief · 28/02/2006 15:13

black more flexible, always looks better than beige..

podkin · 28/02/2006 15:13

Well beige is more summery, although black more stunning I think.

starlover · 28/02/2006 15:13

i like both colours np...

misschief.. yes doomed i'm afraid! lol

nailpolish · 28/02/2006 15:13

I was a bridesmaid at my friends wedding, and I wore black. They are still v happily married, so I didn't jinx them.

Northerner · 28/02/2006 15:14

Oooh I love ASOS.

I think the dress is lovely. Needs bright pink shoes, hat, bag and wrap IMO.

meggmoo · 28/02/2006 15:15

Of course it is. I've worn black several times, you can accessorize so you don't look ike you're there for the 11.30 funeral Grin

I wore a stunning two piece black waistcoat and trousers with a big hat for my brothers wedding - sigh, those were the days.

podkin · 28/02/2006 15:15

I had just come back from Peru when I wore my black dress so had a great tan to go with it.

hamster · 28/02/2006 15:16

I think you should wear what you want to. It's not as if you'll clash with anyone else wearing black.
My bridesmaids are going to wear black later this year-pretty positive it's not a bad thing! Smile

nailpolish · 28/02/2006 15:17

that sounds gorgeous meggmoo

oh im so glad. have been hunting around forever to find something for this wedding

now just have to hunt for the bag and shoes (and jewellery!)

White shoes would look fab with a tan.

nailpolish · 28/02/2006 15:24

white shoes with a black dress?

have seen lots of polka dot around lately

meowmix · 28/02/2006 15:26

lovely dress - and I've worn black to an evening wedding before so don't see why not. Only thing is it'll be hot in black in August when they do that inevitable 4 hour photo session.

nailpolish · 28/02/2006 15:26

hi meowmix! good point about the hot weather - although it IS edinburgh so maybe not that hot

OP posts:
nailpolish · 28/02/2006 15:27
