dinosaur · 28/02/2006 15:35

pph (who is very VERY posh) has said that she would never do it.

I did do it when pregnant but did feel a bit out of place and wouldn't do it again.

nailpolish · 28/02/2006 15:37

lol snafu

I wore black to my brothers wedding last week but wore a cream jacket. I think black on its own is too severe. As long as you add some colour with hat, shoes, bag, nailpolish etc it will look fine.

Bugsy2 · 28/02/2006 15:39

used to be considered "bad form" to wear black or white to a wedding, but don't think anyone takes any notice nowadays.

prettybird · 28/02/2006 15:41

The beige depends on your clouring Nailpolish. On some people it wouild look great, while on others (like me) it would look awful (totally washed me out, even if I have a tan).

What colour is your hair? I think dark brunettes can carry off beige better.

Are you going to get a shawl/pashmina or something, in case there is a cool wind? It si Edinburgh after all! :)

meggmoo · 28/02/2006 15:42

Yuck, the beige looks like a nightie. Posh wore a nightie to Davinia Taylors wedding and she is a chav Grin

GET THE BLACK....GET THE BLACK!

nailpolish · 28/02/2006 15:51

You have the same colouring as me NP.

MrsSpoon · 28/02/2006 16:00

I love the black, would look great with bright coloured accessories.

I wore black (with a bright red coat) to an informal wedding last year and was a bit worried until I saw the bridesmaids were in black too.

nailpolish · 28/02/2006 16:08

have changed my mind Blush

ill get the black

there are some cool accessories these days, like the polka dot scarf (meggmoo!)

i remember a very cool and stylish aunt wore black to her daughters wedding last year, so thats ok with me Grin

I'd go for beige for daytime. Pretty dress.

prettybird · 28/02/2006 16:11

It souns like you have the colouring to carry off the beige - but have to admit - I do prefer the black.

nailpolish · 28/02/2006 16:13

know what you mean - its a bit stiff

MarsOnLife · 28/02/2006 16:31

No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But that's just my upbringing. I went to a wedding on Saturday and was shocked by the number of black dresses. So apparently it is okay.... just not for me. Same as white, unless you are the bride.

nailpolish · 28/02/2006 16:31

panicking now!

argh

Fimbo · 28/02/2006 16:33

That was for the checked dress btw.
MT did a link to a fab dress from M & S earlier - wait until I find it.
