Just to add a note of caution here... I see a chiropadist regularly and she once noticed a small black mark on the bottom corner of my big toe nail. Luckily I remembered doing it - I had dropped a joint of frozen lamb on my foot! She made a note of it just the same and checked the next time she saw me that the mark had moved up my nail to show that it was growing out.

She told me that the reason she did this is that small black marks which do not grow out, can be an indicator of damage to the underlying bone, including once case she had treated which turned out to be bone cancer. Sorry to sound like doom and gloom! WWB this doesn't apply to you as yours is growing out!

OP posts:
WideWebWitch · 03/03/2006 10:51

Oh, so if mine's growing out, which it is, then it's prob not bone cancer? It has been moving up my toes for past 2 years and is at the top now, nearly gone. The new nail is yellowish but I assume it's nailvarnish and pos fungal thing. Oh don't, the drinking thread's convincing me I have liver damage, this is making me worry about my toes, eek. Please someone reassure me!

cod · 03/03/2006 10:51

go to shirop

OP posts:
CountessDracula · 03/03/2006 11:01

No way I use mine once or twice a week with L'occitane foot cream and don't need a chirop

Get a pedicure every couple of months in the summer too

Enid · 03/03/2006 11:03

I now officially cannot reach my feet and so they are very neglected

have hardly any dry skin but they look white and the nails are yellow

have offered dh money to paint my nails but he totally refuses Grin

will have to go for pedicure soon

yoyo · 03/03/2006 11:44

I think Barbara Daly used to do a varnish for yellowing nails. Have a look in Tesco.

cod · 03/03/2006 12:56

dh woudl think i was mad if i asked him to do my nails
never understood why pg women dont just shoev heir feet on a loo seat and paitn them likethat

OP posts:
dinosaur · 03/03/2006 12:58

I had lots of pedicures when pg with DS3 - they were my great treat. Go it, Enid!

NomDePlume · 03/03/2006 12:59

Go for a quick pedicure. Surely they'll have something to sort out the yellowing of your nails. IME the only way to prevent the staining is to have a couple of days with bare nail every couple of weeks. It lets the nail recover and 'breathe'

Littlefish · 03/03/2006 15:29

WWW - I agree with Cod - it's probably a good idea to go and see a chiropadist in case you have a fungal infection. I love the way my feet feel after I've been. It's miles better than a pedicure (although your feet don't look as beautiful!). I always feel as though my feet are half the size they were!

JackieNo · 03/03/2006 15:41

If it does turn out to be just cosmetic, might be worth trying \link{http://www.jasonshankey.co.uk/dsp_ProductDetails.cfm/product_key/637/size_key/721/Orly_Nail_Whitener.html\this nail whitener} - but it's not something I've ever used, so no idea what it's like. I think there may be other similar things around, too.

If you're REALLY pressed for time and just can't be arsed to look after your own feet, I've found the Johnson's spray mist baby oil effective. Just spray it on feet before bed, put on cotton socks and in hte morning, nice feet!
