Sorry, that sounded a bit short, this is useful how to wash bras. Feel free to ignore the section on how to clean sex toys, unless it's ummm y'know useful Grin.

I don't bother with the towel bit though, just hang them all over the line by the center gore, they dry amazingly fast, seeing as they are just made of metal and fairy wings.

snail1973 · 20/06/2012 14:09

I had a fitting recently and was sold a Le Mystere Dream Tisha bra. It cost me £50 (eeeek!) but is brilliant. Am saving up to buy a new one in nude...

comelywench · 20/06/2012 15:03

after years of hand-washing my Freyas I now chuck them in the machine. So far no disasters

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 20/06/2012 15:04

Ooh, bra chat. I am an evangelist about well fitting bras. It's amazing how many women have no idea what the number part of their bra size means, and insist they are (say) a 38A when they know their waist size is only 28 inches. Your waist and your under-boob regions are not a million miles away from each other, women.

Got this from Bravissimo recently and love it.

Caerlaverock · 20/06/2012 15:28

How often do you wear a bra before ,cleaning?

GobblersKnob · 20/06/2012 15:52

Handwash.

Grin

ElephantsAndMiasmas what size are you and what size fits you in a Deco? (if you don't mind me asking) I have tried loads on but have never found one that fits.

Caerlaverock, depends, usually 1-3 days. I used to be more slovenly and wear them for longer, but then I feel they don't really come clean in a hand wash and get tempted to bung them in the machine. I usually wear them twice, but once if it's very hot and thrice if I am running short and it is my last comfy or suitable (for what I am wearing) bra before wash day.

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 20/06/2012 17:01

Errrrrrrm if I have to buy in M&S I'm a 32C, but really I'm a 30D and the Freya one was 30DD I think. It's really hard to read a bra label when you're wearing it :o

I love the women in Bravissimo I want to be them, they are unfailingly kind and helpful and do the magic boob-guessing really well too. I get REALLY ranty when people say "but I am a 38G because I was fitted in M&S" - noooo, when will M&S lose its reputation for being good at fitting bras? They are appalling. Where could I recommend my under D-cup friends to go though?

I am an utter slattern about bra washing unless especially hot and sweaty (and I have incredibly dry/unsweaty skin unless exercising haha). Would probably wear one for 6 or 7 days (not in a row) at most, but this is mostly because I don't have enough bras to wear .

marriednotdead · 20/06/2012 17:24

Elephantsandmiasmas I've got that one too Smile It's straps are smoother (slipperyer should be a word!) though so it sometimes comes off my shoulders. I should wear the Rebecca or Esme really but they don't give me enough oomph!

I wash my bras after every wear
I have a half hour handwash cycle in my machine so I do a mini load every 3-4 days- with the matching knickers of course. No fabric softener and reshape the moulded ones before I hang them up. If my wires were bigger I would definitely handwash and I do accept that I shortening the life of my bras.

Get your smaller cupped friends to go to Bravissimo for a fitting anyway. Half of them will be bigger than they think and the rest will get a more accurate calculation of their size.

CelticRepublican · 20/06/2012 17:37

Another Rio fan here! I really like the fit of it. Nearly all my bras are Freya, I like the fit and the colourful styles. Although I have found one or two that don't improvise the necessary uplift to my 34Gs.

I don't handwash, except for couple of ££ ones from R&P, and wear for two days between washes as a rule. Just in case anyone is taking notes.

marriednotdead · 20/06/2012 17:53

For what I've seen over the last 4 years, weekly washing seems quite saintly

Some women NEVER wash their bras!

Itsgottabebags · 20/06/2012 17:56

Married ooh stinky bras!

OP posts:
comelywench · 20/06/2012 18:59

I must confess that I now machine wash my bras so they get washed more regularly/thoroughly every 3-4 days? I only have three bras (it was two for ages), as it's taking me time to build up my stock after finishing bf-ing. Things are not what/where they were.

Prior to this I was two steps below "slattern" and shall not confess the regularity with which my bras were washed.

Time to buy another deco me thinks!!

GobblersKnob · 20/06/2012 19:25

Tbf if I only had 3, I would either be wearing them for longer or bunging them in the machine, with 18 BlushGrin, I get to be a bit more flexible.

marriednotdead, ewww. My Mum is really bad for washing her bra though, she only has one that she says is comfy and refuses to buy any more.

comelywench · 20/06/2012 21:16

18?!!! I would love 18. Do you have matching pants for them all too? I must confess I've gone off the matching pants thing since I splashed out on m y latest matching short/pant things. They are sooo uncomfy, which is a shame coz they go with two of my three bras. Will stick to thongs in future!

Itsgottabebags · 20/06/2012 21:32

MMN I dread to think how many I have, probably around 18 too to be honest like I said though I am a big fan.

GobblersI am polishing my school librarian and prefect badges now in anticipation of people wanting to hire your bras!

OP posts:
Itsgottabebags · 20/06/2012 22:32

Some of my bras.

Fantasie Madaleine

another one
I like pretty ones after years opf M and S nude and white soft cup boringness and not quite as lifted as they should be.

OP posts:
marriednotdead · 20/06/2012 23:23

Ok, I'll show you mine.

Freya Deco Denim with shorts and a plain black one.
Freya Crystal with shorts
Empreinte Melody I didn't like the matching knickers enough to justify paying £40 for them- the bra was £70...
Bravissimo Alana with shorts which I also have in baby pink.
Lejaby set plus another black lacy set of theirs.
Fantasie Elodie with big pants!

There are also a couple of these Fayreform tshirt bras that are currently a bit too tight...

We won't talk about the bag of too small ones that are waiting for a slimmer new owner.

Itsgottabebags · 20/06/2012 23:37

married I have the Elodie too!
