Help me find something like a semi skinny jean(does it exist?)

I am a 14 and quite tall. Unfortunately skinny jeans make ke look like a weeble due to chunky thighs. They can look OK if they aren't too tight at the bottom.
I have tried everywhere to get a pair of skinny jeans that aren't like ankle crushers. I have also investigated both "slim" and "straight" jeans. These both appear to be the same thing. They fit OK round the hips and thighs, but flap round like flags at the bottom. It seems they work OK on small sizes as leg width isn't as wide as a 14, so are probably slimmish round ankles. But the 14's have yards of flappy stuff at hem.

I have 3 pairs of jeans I bought about 4 years ago. These were all skinny at the time, but aren't as narrow as today's skinnies and are much more flattering, but they are all wearing out.

I have tried Next, DP, New Look, H andM. Even M and S only sold skinny jeans masquerading as jeggings or bootlegs.
Does such a thing exist any more, and will it come in a longer length? I don't want slouch or boyfriend. Just slim jeans that aren't ankle crushers.

Please help

Google skinny flares - what we old uns used to call boot cut < taps nose>

IHeartBobEvans · 18/05/2012 20:38

Have you tried the DP Baby Bootcut? They are very flattering, might be what you are after.

chocoroo · 18/05/2012 20:40

Oasis do a straight leg - Scarlett from memory. Really nice cut but defo not skinny. I also love their Cherry jeans which are skinny but v flattering.

Bert2e · 18/05/2012 20:42

I have a pair of these (found at an outlet) that are great. They are kind of a skinny straight.

I have a pair of very comfy Levi straight leg demi curve jeans that seem narrow but not skinny. I'm only a 12 though.

On recommendation from someone on here I now live and die in Uniqlo straight skinny jeans. Or are they skinny straight...? They're fab anyway.

dexter73 · 18/05/2012 20:46

I wear these from Uniqlo.

dexter73 · 18/05/2012 20:46

We have the same jeans flowery!

NotMostPeople · 18/05/2012 20:47

Boden straight legs are the answer.

orangeandlemons · 18/05/2012 20:48

Those DP ones to look quite interesting. Do they do flappy at the ankles?

Have looked at the Scarlett ones. They do seem to have too much fabric at the bottom though. The Cherry are lovely, I would buy them just for the name, but alas, weebledom here I come, if I were to buy those

Although I have said I didn't want boyfriend, I have noticed a slim boyfriend on Oasis website. I have sent off for some of thee from DP yesterday, but they don't have them in store near me, so not sure what they are like.

I got some Baxter jeans from top shop. They.said skinny, but they're not skin tight ie are a bit baggy under my boots. I like them as they don't look painted on me.

orangeandlemons · 18/05/2012 20:52

Wow! Lots of options there. Thanks. Havemanged to look at them all, even though internet is downloading at snails pace at the moment.

They all look great, it's parting with the cash that's the problem! Which ones sit highest on the waist, as don't want builder's bum, and muffin can sometimes escape unless held under firm control.

Well Uniqlo stop at a size 30 so that's me counted out. Price was best there too!

Am going to relook at Lands End and Boden. Johnny is always sending me 25% off

My Levi curve slim fit are like loose skinnies?

orangeandlemons · 18/05/2012 21:00

I have given up on Levi's.

None of their jeans fit Sad

I know you said you've tried Next but I like their slim fit jeans. I don't think they're flappy round the ankles and they're slim enough to wear a longer length top.

earlyriser · 18/05/2012 21:04

Gap? Think they also have a 30% off code at the mo. Lots of styles to choose from.

orangeandlemons · 18/05/2012 21:04

I tried some on today. I think if you are an 8 or 10 they don't flap. But they looked very wide on me.

Perhaps I have super skinny ankles which compensate for my thighs Sad. Would much rather it was the other way round

i have some from zara which are really nice shape

orangeandlemons · 18/05/2012 21:05

Ah, now Gap, I had forgotten about them, and yet their stuff fits really well

orangeandlemons · 18/05/2012 21:09

I don't get on with Zara.......let's not go there.

Except once, their largest shoes size 9, woulldn't fit my size 7 feet. It made me feel huge, so I never went back Sad

Gap Real Straight. I love 'em.

chicaguapa · 18/05/2012 21:20

I'm a 14 with chunky thighs and successfully wear Oasis Cherry jeans without looking like a weeble. Maybe if you tried them on, you'd be surprised.

TerraNotSoFirma · 18/05/2012 21:23

Asda's great bum jeans are somewhere between skinny and straight, great fit.

flowery · 18/05/2012 21:25

The Uniqlo ones come up v big so it might be worth trying the 30s.
