Help me find something like a semi skinny jean(does it exist?)

I am a 14 and quite tall. Unfortunately skinny jeans make ke look like a weeble due to chunky thighs. They can look OK if they aren't too tight at the bottom.
I have tried everywhere to get a pair of skinny jeans that aren't like ankle crushers. I have also investigated both "slim" and "straight" jeans. These both appear to be the same thing. They fit OK round the hips and thighs, but flap round like flags at the bottom. It seems they work OK on small sizes as leg width isn't as wide as a 14, so are probably slimmish round ankles. But the 14's have yards of flappy stuff at hem.

I have 3 pairs of jeans I bought about 4 years ago. These were all skinny at the time, but aren't as narrow as today's skinnies and are much more flattering, but they are all wearing out.

I have tried Next, DP, New Look, H andM. Even M and S only sold skinny jeans masquerading as jeggings or bootlegs.
Does such a thing exist any more, and will it come in a longer length? I don't want slouch or boyfriend. Just slim jeans that aren't ankle crushers.

Please help

If topshop still do Martha's, they are straight leg jeans

feelinghappynow · 20/05/2012 18:52

They do - i tried some the other week - loved them, but bought baxters instead. Will go back for the marthas though.

Have just looked at Esprit. They look really good. Even high rise to control the burgeoning muffin (perhaps I just need some full length spanx instead).

Whatis the sizing like? Big? small?

Not too fussy orangesandlemons. I hate bagginess around the knees. I want something that will show off my shapely calves and ankles

Am passing Wine for surviving Meadowhell!!

SoupDragon · 20/05/2012 22:27

Sizing seems accurate - maybe slightly small. They do have a fit guide for each item too which explains it. Not only that, returns are free so you can just order multiple sizes!

I think the Boden straights sound exactly what you are after. They fit into my boots without me having to flatten or tuck anything in, there are no flappy bits of fabric. Bought a pair which were another make a few weeks ago, also supposed to be straight and there's loads of flappage with them. Completely different to the Boden ones

I bought some 'relaxed skinny' from next, in white, but they do them in blue too www.next.co.uk/women/weekend-casual/7. i have horrible fat ankles and these are fine but not flappy

thenightsky · 20/05/2012 22:43

orangeandlemons I've combed Meadowhell M&S too. It was shite.

orangeandlemons · 21/05/2012 07:53

Boden have sold out. Why this is, in the middle of May, when we still have atleast 3 months of so called summer left, I don't know.

Next relaxed skinny look good.

Another vote for Topshop Baxters. They are proper skinny jeans rather than straight or slim fit but don't cling to the calf or ankle so you don't get that legging/sprayed on look!

orangeandlemons · 21/05/2012 12:46

OK. Problem solved. Have just received skinny boyfit from DP. They are almost perfict, but could be a weeny bit longer.

Although they appear to be planty long enough for 5ft 10 model in photo Hmm

I have just discovered (and don't laugh) m&s autograph (or mught be called limited edition or something) skinny jeans. I have had baxters, oasis and warehouse until now but the autograph ones are so nice I bought 3 pairs! I have chunky thighs a d these are great. Lovely darkish (but not too dark ) blue, no stretch and the denim is like proper denim, not thin and no stretch. £35 a bargain! Not too tight around ankles and pockets plain a d in flattering place on bum :)

I could believe I was buying m&s jeans as always assumed they'd be old lady like. The slim bootcut ones are also the best non skinny jeans I have found in years. Who'd have thought?!

Limited collection not autograph ...
