Who's up for choosing my wedding dress for me?

Help! I'm getting married in August and haven't bought a dress yet. I've narrowed it down to two. Can the style gurus of MN help?

This one (tried on in a shop a few weeks ago and can't get it out of my head. My bridesmaid thinks it's stunning: "your bum looks like Pippa Middleton's" My mum thinks it's okay: "but your bum looks enormous")

Or one a bit like this (can't find the exact one, but it's a similar shape. I tried it on in a shop this morning and couldn't believe how thin I looked! Bridesmaid number 2 thinks it's amazing)

Thanks

Right, I've been brave and uploaded a pic of the back of the dress on me.

Give it to me honestly... Does my bum look big in this?

I like the mermaid shape but if you don't want to look like you have a big bum, this is nice www.aonel.com/trumpet-mermaid-sweetheart-straps-sweep-train-satin-lace-wedding-dress-w76fq.html
The extra sheer layer, hints at shape but doesn't look as though it clings.

Of the two you have chosen I like No 1

AngryFeet · 05/04/2012 16:07

YOUR BUM DOES NOT LOOK BIG!!!! YOUR MUM IS MENTAL!!!! BUY IT!!!

AngryFeet · 05/04/2012 16:08

You can always wear shapewear to make sure there are no lumps and bumps if it makes you feel better.

AngryFeet · 05/04/2012 16:09

Is there a pic of the front?

LtheWife · 05/04/2012 16:12

No! Your bum looks in no way big at all! I think it looks gorgeous on you, definitely buy it!

Ephiny · 05/04/2012 16:53

I like the first one better, and it sounds like it's The One for you :). The second one is perfectly nice, but looks like the standard strapless A-line gown that everyone wears, the first is a bit more distinctive and modern.

I was going to say avoid that style if you're a bit of a pear shape, but looking at your photo it actually looks fine.

minipie · 05/04/2012 17:46

first one HANDS DOWN.

and your bum looks great Grin

Are you wearing a veil? If so, get a long one and that will hang down over the bottom area anyway if you are worried.

calzone · 05/04/2012 17:49

Tis lovely!! Buy it.

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 05/04/2012 18:21

Awwww. Thanks ladies. I'll tell my mum she's mental Grin

I've added a pic of the front (not sure why I didn't do that in the first place)

Off to bathe LO, then I might pluck up the courage to order it so please do tell me if it's actually crap and you're just being polite!

Oh, and I don't know what that spot is on the 'front' picture. It doesn't exist in real life! No birthmarks that dress would be drawing attention to.

wineandcheese · 05/04/2012 18:43

You look completely amazing - buy it!! Beautiful.

minimathsmouse · 05/04/2012 19:02

It looks lovely on you, your very tiny, no big bum in sight. Take mum to spec savers Grin

JasperJohns · 05/04/2012 19:35

I think it makes your bum look - not big, but there seems to be a lot going on in the structure of the dress in that area, iyswim.

Could it be that the dress needs altering to be more fitted?

PippiL · 05/04/2012 19:40

You have a lovely bum! It's a gorgeous dress, classic, the others are not a patch on it.

BUY IT.

FashionEaster · 05/04/2012 19:56

You don't have a big derriere at all but you need to try on that dress with some shapewear to give a smooth silhouette at the sides and a good bra imo.

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 05/04/2012 20:04

Thank you. The dress is a little big & I definitely need a good bra (the only ones i have that fit at the moment are nasty nursing bras Blush)

My bridesmaids are on their way over for Wine and gossip so I'll try to get the courage to order it. If i do i'll probably order it in a 12 & then get it taken in by a professional seamstress.

I like the first one best Truthy. Very elegant and classic. And your bum looks peachy. Wink

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 05/04/2012 20:18

Don't you go telling the quiche about my bum Queen - I don't want them all wanting a squeeze Wink

(This is where I've been hiding out by the way)

HillyWallaby · 05/04/2012 20:25

The first one is lovely, and very elegant.

The second one is very pretty but a tad boring and the same as every other wedding dress of the last ten years with the no straps/sleeves thing going on, which I am bored rigid with tbh.

Even lovelier than both of them is this one which is on the same page as dress one. Grin

LittleWaveyLines · 05/04/2012 20:27

The first one, and your bum is teeny tiny!

LittleWaveyLines · 05/04/2012 20:28

Ha she told us where you were - you can't hide from the quiche! Grin

Ooooh much prefer the one Hilly posted - that will really suit your slim figure! (Jealous me...)
