Hello all!

OP posts:
AmberNectarine · 04/03/2012 14:52

marsha I think it could work in a mad citrus-y kind of way but the challenge would be what to wear in between. I'd be tempted to either go for both and not wear together, or go for a more sedate bag like a dove grey or navy...

MarshaBrady · 04/03/2012 14:56

Amber Yes you're right. Actually Celine has a navy version!

Thanks. I nearly had to ask dh, you saved me Wink

blue2711 · 04/03/2012 16:15

marsha like amber I do think the combination could work but I'm not sure I could style it out. But would look cool with an otherwise all white outfit, or navy or stone. But then you might feel a bit dull when not actually carrying the bag! Probably easier to go for a more neutral coloured bag and a navy celine would be so elegant. Having said that I do love my hot pink mulberry mabel... Hmm, have been no help at all. Ignore me!

Is that the roxy that I see on page 19 of the ST style mag?! Perhaps we have not only Gwyneth but the Times fashion team lurking!

Hopefully · 04/03/2012 16:16

Omg my computer has gone insane. It keeps crashing. I have been informed repeatedly by DH that it is not his fault, despite the fact that he installed a ton of new stuff on it the other day Hmm

Marsha I'm thinking that the celine and the lanvins could work, but it would be v hard work and possibly not worth it. Are you prepared for a season of nude and grey just so you can wear bright accessories?

Ollie just got your email but aforementioned computer death prevents me reading it, thanks though!

Am still suffering for my brief indulgence over the weekend, very dull. Am trying to seriously limit refined carbs and other bad things to try to feel more healthy.

MarshaBrady · 04/03/2012 16:24

yes could be!

Thanks Blue, Hopefully you are right. I am struggling to know which one to ditch.

Wish I could get options, ie muted Lanvin with bright bag and bright Lanvin muted bag! But I don't think so somehow.

Might ditch the bright bag.

MidnightinMoscow · 04/03/2012 17:11

Icey, I hear you. So you have until Saturday for an induction, and I have until the following Tuesday for a section. At least we are in the same boat.

Blue don't let the vien-y leg thing put you off shorts. I have really, really bad varicose veins. In fact about 10 years ago I had loads stripped and tied off, but they are back again. Occupational hazard I believe. However, in the summer I swear my using the San Tropez every day tanning lotion and this.

blue2711 · 04/03/2012 17:23

Mim, yes yes to that Sally Hansen stuff. That's what I discovered late last summer. Need to be less lazy about the st tropez everyday too.

As soon as I tick something off my SS list (scarf), I add something to it. I really really need help with sunglasses please. Keen to get a really glam new pair but always struggle as my head and face are so small (one of my dearest friends tells me I have a 'pinhead'. Nice) I like the oversized look and Nicole Richie always gets away with it but I'm not sure I do. I have a big black Chanel pair already and would ideally like something lighter looking, maybe aviator style. Ray bans too wide on me though. Any recommendations? Thanks!

MidnightinMoscow · 04/03/2012 17:41

Try Tom Ford for aviator's Blue.

blossoming · 04/03/2012 17:42

Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't caught up yet. Just wanted to thank mim for the SH link. I will def give it a go underneath my j&j.
Probably deluded re shorts as the 16 yr olds I see especially in the FE college are beyond shapeless.
I nay be buying Chanel sunglasses at MU blue!

MarshaBrady · 04/03/2012 17:43

Blue, you could do the oversize thing but not black? So something a bit smaller and more delicate. A lighter frame that sort of thing.

I like Miu Miu tinted ones, and saw some nice Balenciaga once. Can't remember where, but if they float past again I'll link.

blue2711 · 04/03/2012 18:15

Thanks mim. Yes that was just what I was thinking, marsha. I'll do some browsing, it's just so hard to tell without trying on. Jealous of those going to the MU, both for seeing all of you and for shopping opportunities. I must make the next one!

notyummy · 04/03/2012 18:56

Too much wine and good last night and not enough sleep. Was good night though....however following it with a swimming lesson and two childrens birthday parties has virtually broken me. Currently slumped on sofa leaving through ST Style mag, wondering exactly who is going to wear these floral pyjamas I am seeing in all the fashion mags. Answers on a postcard please....

Evening all :) .. and breathe I hate doing inlaws solo no one to raise your eyes to or diffuse tense situations.

Talking of sunglasses my DP is actually better at choosing frames that suit me, he got me some gorgeous ones last year. One benefit of his jaunts is the duty free!

Amber hurrah for resolution glad it seems to be resolved and lucky you being a winter
blue love the sound of the L&L scarf
Marsha I like the NAP bag but, Im sure there are better options it doesnt shout buy me.
hopefully I`m sure you will get on track healthwise, I have eaten too much this weekend rice and steamed veg here I come.

Thoughts on this skirt I have a similar top to the one shown.

Also this to wear with brighter colours.

p.s love your comment on Chat MRSCB I totally agree with you.

Sounded like you had a really great WE nye. Loved how you packed so much into it.

Russianred · 04/03/2012 19:53

So glad yu had a lovely weekend NYE (or am assuming it was - certainly oaunded brilliant!).

Blue make sure you try lots of pairs on - I have a Chanel pair that really don't suit me, not even a little bit (in fact, I might bring them to the MU and see if someone else wants them - they need a good home). I wear Wayfarers, which are probably too big for my face, but I really love them. I was wearing them today with Roxy and DH kept on humming the Top Gun theme tune in the playground.

Slay that shirt looks like a brilliant basic, well done for suffering the ILs. No way would I do that without DH around. You're basically a saint.

Emo76 · 04/03/2012 19:55

hang on in there icey I was in same boat and convinced I would be induced with DD2 but I was absolutely staggered that she arrived before that!

marsha I don't know re that colour bag and the lanvins - might be a bit much - but I am hardly an authority on these matters!

pretty quiet weekend here, have downloaded MFP and will be using it tomorrow onwards (today was hopeless, went out for lunch!)

Emo76 · 04/03/2012 19:57

slay love that shirt but couldn't cope with the dry clean only nature of it!

MarshaBrady · 04/03/2012 20:03

Thanks everyone you are right.

I am sticking with Lanvins and ditching the bag until something else comes up. Maybe look at navy Céline again.

Not sure is the answer NY, maybe some one who is 19!

Slaymill yes the bag is dullarama really, isn't it. I like the skirt. Good on a petite waist.

loobylu3 · 04/03/2012 20:09

Well done on making your DH stand up and take notice amber. At least you have explained clearly to him how exhausted and unsupported you feel. It's up to him to make some changes now. It only takes small things to make you feel appreciated, doesn't it?

marsha- the pumps are a great colour as is the bag. I think that you could make them work but you might need to wear lots of white/ other neutral in between. I would probably go for the shoes and a navy bag (if you need a neutral bag).

Hopefully-thanks for comments on the blazers.

loobylu3 · 04/03/2012 20:11

Crossed post marsha. Come on baby icey and baby MIM!

Russianred · 04/03/2012 20:29

Has anyone seen nice white blouses/tops with a bit of detailing. Nice one in Warehouse, but is viscose and would rather not. Quite like the look of this Mango one and am ALS keen t check out the Whistles one MrsCB linked to. Anything else to throw into the mix?

Bonsoir · 04/03/2012 20:29

Marsha - on your bag/shoes combo, get dark shoes and a bright bag - light/bright shoes mark so fast! I still adore my yellow Céline bag that I got for Christmas 2010 - it looks like new - and coordinates with lots of different darker colours.

entropypersonified · 04/03/2012 20:30

okay ladies, decision made... waterloo until the end of the summer and then a flat or house in balham which is not spooky.

So I have a summer on the south bank with a toddler (yikes)

I've joined a gym at marriott hotel (best of intentions) as it's a 3 minute walk away

I have a nursery place 2 minutes from the flat

the only problem is.... THE APARTMENT IS HIDEOUS seriously Blush it's orange, on the outside, and on the inside it has vile curtains (can be changed...) and a carpet (can't be changed, don't like carpets) and a ...shudders.... BROWN feature wall

ick

So, I will be looking for advice on how to make it nice and liveable, would like to repaint or hide wall with giant pictures. Also would like some raw silk curtains in a deep red colour (picky, much?)

and a big nice throw thing

I also need to work out where DS will fit Grin

OllieinOrange · 04/03/2012 20:31

Love this leather jacket. Belstaff

Looby I was thinking about the TS Blue blazer too. It sold out so quickly.

I need new sunglasses too but like Blue, have trouble finding any that suit me. Have some lovely navy oversized Boden ones from last summer which Ive never worn as they just look wrong. Must get my sister to ebay them unless anyone here wants them? When I had my colours done, I was told to look for grey ones. Turns out, there are not that many. Must add to my London list.
