Sorry for poor thread title but I am hopeless at rhyming at the best of times...
Unbelievable how quickly we filled the last thread!

Had one hour on Friday before the meeting started and used my time very efficiently and bought these. They are not quite as high as the 50/50s but suit me better. Was hugging the shopping bag close to me on the train back home yesterday Grin.

ollie Such a shame that your DH isn't going to go with the job offer over here. Oh, the fun we could have!

hopefully Having you on this thread is great and I enjoy reading your posts a lot. I hope your mother doesn't find any more tidying tasks for you today. You look fab in your wedding pictures.

annie Hope you got all your work done last night and have the chance to get some rest today.

red We have our hob on our kitchen island too. We couldn't decide on backsplash for ages. Haven't had one for ages and it is absolutely fine. I do most food preparation stuff on the island anyway.

Have lovely Sundays everyone!

Did anyone else watch Protecting Our Children? Just heartbreaking.

IceCreamCastles · 30/01/2012 22:08

I watched it ollie- so sad- was in floods of tears at the end Sad

notyummy · 31/01/2012 07:54

I decided not to watch that didn't think I would manage it. Interesting but harrowing I would imagine. Would a difficult job.

OllieinOrange · 31/01/2012 08:06

OOOOOOOOOh - apparently Shirley MaClaine has been confirmed to be in the next Downton Abbey series to play Lady Grantham's mother - she will be fabulous.

Yes ny - it was harrowing viewing, even DH was affected by it. Really impressed by the team of social workers the programme was following - a difficult job to do in a difficult system.

Great about the dress Icey - will PM you back.

My Outnet delivery is due here this morning. Am helping with DS1s class trip to an outdoor ice rink later - at last I get to wear my snow boots!

MidnightinMoscow · 31/01/2012 08:16

Morning.

I decided against watching it too, been reading a thread about it though...interesting divide in peoples opinions. My cousin works with SS, she helps with contact visits, writes reports based on her observations etc. She has some heartbreaking stories to tell.

Exciting about the Outnet order Ollie, fingers crossed for the dress.

Well done Emo, and good to hear that you have seen the benefits in your skin and energy levels.

Reine can I see your pictures please?

Another one with a fussy eater here too. In fact, not only fussy but badly behaved at meal times too. A real source of frustration. I suspect a lot of it is related to his allergies and all the restrictions that are placed upon him when it comes to eating. Interestingly, he eats well at nursery, when they eat in a big group.

I just bought Chanel nail polishes in April, May and June on my way back from the school run Blush Grin

OllieinOrange · 31/01/2012 09:19

Now thats what I call a successful school run Fritzi I googled to see what colours you are all talking about (never wear nail polish - hate my nails!) and this blog shows them in great detail - love April.
nail polish blog here

nye I had my doubts about June. But all three just look so pretty together. I have a Spring friend I can pass it on to though so felt justified.

Nail polish? I have never worn it! But am very pleased with online diagnosis thanks NYE Grin

I am cold and have been very bad and ordered something to keep me warm (M by MJ shearling coat, outnet. Will link if good, nervous it's crap and expensive!). If the weather improves before it gets here I will return. If it is horribly heavy and unattractive I shall return. If it is nice and snuggly and luxurious I will consider.

It's not good when we have all turned our attention to SS. It could be the Lanvin flats etc. Oh well an order is just a try on isn't it? really.

FritziGreenEyes · 31/01/2012 11:45

I usually only paint my toenails but might make an exception for the lovely new colours.

Ohhh, and THE scarf is here. It is divine! Thank you so much lovely zembo!!! Doorbell rang when I was in the shower but I immediately knew it had to be an important delivery. Wrapped myself in bathrobe and ran down the stairs dripping water everywhere Grin.

Just swinging in mid-shopping trip to announce that I have bought not one but two pairs of Aldo boots - the suede dicker-alikes and a suede pair similar in shape to pistol boots but minus external zip. Really pleased with both, and they only cost the same as a pair of Jalouse, including suede brush and protector spray.

Can it be that the Great Ankle Boot Hunt is over? Grin

MarshaBrady · 31/01/2012 12:19

Good work Hopefully!

Fritzi don't slip!

NYE I know could be cold for a bit, at least an order will provide distraction while I wait for sunshine.

I just rang dh and said blah blah work blah etc then at the end, and-I-ordered-something-I-will-return-if-not-good.

Said it really, really fast, like it helps Grin

VerityBrulee · 31/01/2012 12:46

An order is definately just a try on marsha Wink

fritzi nothing like colourful toe nails to cheer you up Smile

hopefully what a relief to have solved the boot problem! I had an early morning trip to aldo to try on fleecys marant-a-like hightop wedges, they are super comfy, real running around in shoes. I wasn't sure about the colour though, it's quite sandy, so will try again tomorrow with olive skinnies.

Saw beautiful jacket in Sandro, tuxedo style, gorgeous fabric. Only in white now but will be coming in v v pale pink or gorgeous strawberry sorbet colour. I think I'll go for this as my birthday jacket rather than the etoile one, I think the structured cut is better for me.

ollie I'm in my snowboots today too, have to get some wear out of them. Enjoy the ice rink!

Emo76 · 31/01/2012 12:52

I know you all love the Whistles Roxy jacket, but it's not really "me" - have tried on. Not keen on the buckles on the bottom. I think perhaps black leather just doesn't suit me full stop BUT have seen some rather lovely and expensive looking quilted leather jackets on "stars" - wondered if anyone could suggest one? A fairlly simple style!

blue2711 · 31/01/2012 13:01

Hello everyone. No baby yet and feeling very very uncomfortable now. Hardly slept last night and burst into tears when entered kitchen to see DS had emptied whole box of cereal onto floor and was merrily dancing around in it / eating fistfuls of it! Thankfully my mum has carted him off for the rest of the day now. I feel like I have timed this baby very badly indeed: DS has well and truly given up naps; has just started to be clingy for the first time ever; and the weather's too horrid to send him outside to play. Aargh! Oh and back to midwife on Thursday icey so will see then whether baby has moved. I fear not, judging from the hands and feet I keep feeling. Two friends have regaled me with horror stories of back to back births so I'll keep my fingers crossed for you too!

On a brighter note, I have really enjoyed all your SS lists and am still focused on mine, despite sudden dip in temperature. I'll be inside a lot for a while yet and just keep remembering how (comparatively) balmy March and April were last year. My list so far:

  • Replacement white and grey good skinny jeans (although still may have to be TS depending on other purchases)
  • flat gold sandals
  • black leather sandals, heels, but wearable in day. I'm thinking cheaper version of last year's mulberry edie ones Think this will be a tough find.
  • some good white t shirts.
  • a big, soft, summery scarf. I like this one that Rosie thingy is wearing and her boots too actually. Apologies for DM link!
  • the pink marant jacket!

I must not buy: any dresses or anything stripy.

Love the new Chanel polishes but I never buy any as I always always have my nails done by my lovely friend. Wear coral or hot pink in summer mostly.

Hope you're all ok, sorry for the me, me post. Was pleased to read of hopefully's boot success, red's lovely cooking in new kitchen and ny's trip to London amongst other nice chat too.

blue2711 · 31/01/2012 13:18

Can you link again to your aldo boots please hopefully? I think I 'need' some little grey suede ankle boots with heels too now.

Please can I see your pictures reine?

Hi! Last day of January. What have we kept? How much have we spent?
I thought I was doing well but:
Agnes £150
Jigsaw jumper £69
Replacement wonder bra strapless £28
Sweaty Betty stuff, £130
Call it £400 Blush
On a s&b note (not) I am keeping warm by wearing Hanro vest tucked into thick tights under trousers. Long sleeve top and sweater and large scarf. Freezing. Loving the Aigle though. Perfect!
Oops, must get back to school...

MarshaBrady · 31/01/2012 13:39

I haven't said but can't do leather jackets. Nooo. I have tried and can't do animal print either.

I don't keep track of what I spend Bloss. Probably for the best!

MarshaBrady · 31/01/2012 13:42

Blue great list! Love that big soft scarf, I'd like one too.

And great taste on the pink Marant Grin

MarshaBrady · 31/01/2012 13:45

She has w&a type boots on. What are the grey ankle boots hhmmm?
