Am I asking for the impossible? Simple, stylish bags.

Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions. I want a decent, large bag that is going to last me a long time. I am willing to spend a lot on it, but it has to be simple, gorgeous leather, preferably tan, but would consider other colours. I can't stand the designer bags in the shops covered in logos and hideous metal. Even Mulberry is ugly now with that huge, gold, oval disk on the front.

Any ideas?

Great start, thank you! I'm not against their gold disk, it's not too huge and shiny :) Your link didn't work for me but I've browsed the site. I like the shape of the Olivia but it's sold out!

Laurie - thanks, OK has some nice ones actually. I wouldn't have thought to look at hers as I just associate her with that annoying leaf pattern.

I bought an oak Mitzy messenger in their current sale. Simple and roomy - best bag ever in my opinion!

Just small logo on front but not ugly! Have a look in their sale, you might be surprised!!

Gah! The Mulberry sale is tempting!!! I walk past a Mulberry shop every day on my way to work and have hated all their new styles lately...but I clearly wasn't looking closely enough.

I want the same, but with no branding, no tassles, nothing. And not for more than £100. It seems to be impossible. Why do the Mulberry ones all have a freaking tree on them? I don't WANT tree.

I'm talking Margaret Thatcher handbag here. I have a small one, but can I find a big one. No.

The first two are both gorgeous and are being considered, but the tree print on the third looks odd imo.

I really like this one but it's suede and I'm worried it wouldn't be as hard wearing - I hate how suede bags become 'bobbly' on the back where they rub your body. But maybe Mulberry suede doesn't do that!

But it does scream Mulberry a bit too loudly. I think I might be a reverse snob about these things.

I've got the P&M lucia too shelley, love it, someone also posted their Milly in tan as well recently which is lovely too.... Leather really good, had mine nearly a year and it still looks great.

I am watching this with interest and following all your links avidly. Also a 'reverse snob' and bloody hate Mulberry, LV, Balenciaga etc - bags that scream 'hello, I can afford a designer bag!'.

I just want something simple, classic, well made.

Have you looked at pia jewellery? They also have leather bags at a good price.

Just don't get distracted by the jewellery!
