Am I asking for the impossible? Simple, stylish bags.

Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions. I want a decent, large bag that is going to last me a long time. I am willing to spend a lot on it, but it has to be simple, gorgeous leather, preferably tan, but would consider other colours. I can't stand the designer bags in the shops covered in logos and hideous metal. Even Mulberry is ugly now with that huge, gold, oval disk on the front.

Any ideas?

I have just bought the Mimi Berry Peggy in camel. Thanks Antidote for that recommendation! Apparently it's arriving tomorrow Grin I think the thing I like most about it, apart from the fact that it's not covered in tassels or gold, is that it doesn't look like a fake Mulberry it's trying to be too 'designer'.

What a bag, worth starting a thread on mumsnet for, beautiful!

swanfall · 06/01/2012 12:47

It's here and I love it Grin (in case anyone cares.) Do it justonemorejingle, it's in the sale so you're basically making money by buying it. That's how sales work in my head, anyway.

Don't know if anyone's mentioned this place yet but have you tried massimo dutti? There might be something there and their bags are pretty good quality for the price.

Oooh...Swanfall, excellent choice! Enjoy Smile

swanfall · 06/01/2012 19:09

Snowybaby you genius, I think that's it! Only costs ten times more than the one I bought too! Thank you, I can now forget about it :)

swainfall that bag you love is Marc by Marc Jacobs hth

swanfall · 06/01/2012 19:42

No, it's D&G, as snowybaby says. Look! gorgeous overpriced bag Thank you - Marc by MJ does have some similar ones and they're very nice. Better price too.

This is quite nice, and very cheap too.

AND this

Funny, BHS is a shop that I've never even bought anything from, personally, seemed a bit old and my local one is quite run down. Surprising what you can find by googling around.

I know it's not designer, but I was surprised at how lovely the two above are for their price range.

greyvix · 06/01/2012 21:43

I am now also coveting Mimi Berry for the lovely leather. The tan tote looks like it's sold out. Is the camel Peggy close to a tan colour? I'm envious. I am sure you'll love it, Snowfall, especially as it was a bargain.

swanfall · 06/01/2012 22:58

I would say the camel is a light tan, yes. It says in the description of the peggy that the camel will darken to mid tan over time, and you can help that process along with leather conditioner. The tan tote looks brown to me in picture!

Roadchick, your links don't work for me on my phone, sorry!

I like the Massimoduti but the Mimitote is my all-time favourite bag.

I love all Liz Cox bags too - gorgeous, thick leather

roadchickindisguise · 07/01/2012 12:47

That's strange - not sure what the problem is/was. Sorry!

Winetimeisfinetime · 07/01/2012 16:38

This is not dissimilar to the Margaret Thatcher bag that you like swan - Lulu Guinness

Winetimeisfinetime · 07/01/2012 16:45

Oh sorry, it was yellowraincoat that was looking for a Thatcher bag.

yellowraincoat · 07/01/2012 16:47

Too croc, winetime. Apart from that it's nice. Beyond being £350 for a bag. For that price, I'd expect it to last me til I'm Thatcher's age.
