  1. I will NOT continually waste my money on 'designer' hair products from Boots. I do not need any more thickening lotions, volumising mousses, serums, sprays (sea salt spray? WTF was I thinking?), texturisers or anything else. It is all SHIT and makes my hair look like it hasn't been washed for a week. All I need is GOOD shampoo and conditioner (pref. Aveda - which I could afford if I stopped spunking cash on Boots rubbish) and Elnett.

I am getting there! Today I have an up do! With a glittery slide and everything.

Might wait until tomorrow to tackle the fruit and veg thing though.

MistyMountainHop · 04/01/2012 09:25

do stomach crunches and push ups every day (have been doing this for the last few months anyway and have really noticed a positive difference in my abs and upper arms)

always take off make up before bed

vaseline on eyelashes before bed as it makes them thicker (honestly - it works, have tried it before but lately have not been arsed)

have a wardrobe / knicker drawer clear out. and be ruthless!

get eyebrows threaded every few weeks

Clareypen · 04/01/2012 10:05

Be more active is my main goal! Won't be losing weight as will be growing a rather large mound in my middle! But will tone up and get labour ready!! Yoglates or something!
Actually buy clothes that suit me, GOK WHERE ARE YOU!!!
Find some REALLY pretty maternity clothes so that I don't slop around in hideous oversized trackkies and flipflops like the last 2 pregnancies.
Hair- well...i do spend a fortune taming it so will just be nicer to it!
Face- continue my moisturising regime- have toyed with the idea of Botox for a while but have decided I am just a vain cow and noone looks at my wrinkles other than me!
facial waxing- going to give threading a go! Heard it hurts but hey I have given birth without drugs!

HugosGoatee · 04/01/2012 11:15

Love this thread Smile

  • use my Liz Earle cleanser which is a faff
  • buy some Kerastase Masquintense - pricey but so so worth it and it does last yonks
  • get out of pjs and into actual clothes every day before 11am (newborn on the go)
  • keep toenails neat and polished - no point doing hands with all the sterilising, washing up etc involved with newborn
  • get hair cut regularly and actually believe it will make it grow faster
  • the biggie - lose all the baby weight asap and by June latest
newmum953 · 04/01/2012 12:13
  • I will have my eyebrows waxed once a month. Wierdly, it makes a hug difference to have clean lines instead of unruly caterpillars.
  • I will STOP STOP STOP wearing anything marked maternity. Baby is 7 months old now, no excuse. Not even those leggings I think are comfy.
  • I will make more of an effort to apply fake tan to my face. (Boo, just remembering the glory days when I used to fake tan my whole body.)
  • I will return anything I bought in the sales I am not sure about/bought on impulse.
  • I will treat my heels with Vaseline every second night until they are soft as a baby's bottom.
  • I will go out on a date night with husband once a month where I will be perfumed, wearing clothes with no spit on them and heels :)
StellaAndFries · 04/01/2012 12:29

I will start to make more of an effort to dress like a hip 29 year old and less like a geriatric. I've already started to straighten my hair every second day and I'm waiting for my new cosmetics delivery, I just need to buy a new bag to store it all in.

teahouse · 04/01/2012 13:33

I have having my hair coloured and cut tomorrow - NYR; keep it looking nice

I bought some Bobby Brown eye concealer last week - NYR; wear it every week day, with foundation and mascara so I don't like so haggard

Also;
Stop impluse buying on e-bay or in sales
Go to bed earlier
Read more (in bed instead of watching cr*p TV until late)
Find a hobby - suggestions please? (actually I'll start a thread)
Eat better - eating reguarly including breakfast, more fruit and veg, less chocolate (unless its dark) and snacks, drink more water
Exercise

SeasonsGripings · 04/01/2012 14:20

No chocolate, crisps or alcohol for January
Start c25k
Make up and hair done before coming downstairs in morning otherwise never bother

Buy some Morrocan Oil.

Isthatajoke · 04/01/2012 14:29

This is great, I need to get my personal grooming back on track

  1. Start waxing regularly again
  2. Keep eyebrows under control
  3. Wear bronzer and perfume every day
  4. Sort out hair. Am I growing it or not? Find a way of covering the greys
  5. Drink more water
  6. Cleanse properly at bedtime
  7. Treat every two months, pedicure, facial or massage
  8. Take stock of beauty and make up products. Try and buy quality, nice products rather than cheap cack. What is an oil cleanse?

I used to look really young for my age, now look old, tired and dull. Really need an uplift.

betabaker · 04/01/2012 17:50

some great tips and ideas here www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/series/sali-hughes-beauty including hot cloth cleansing (magic) and How to wear Red Lipstick (without looking like a clown)

fluffy123 · 04/01/2012 18:46

To weigh under 9 stone and have my first ever manicure.

wordfactory · 04/01/2012 19:03

I must sort out my cosmetics. I have drawers of the stuff.

I will also return for my consultation with cosmetic dentist. Both my DC have braces and had them fitted without a peep. I am brave enough to do this...

3under4 · 04/01/2012 20:48

I will try clothes on before I buy them!
I will try different styles instead of black!
I will accept that after three babies I am no longer a size ten!!!!

feralgirl · 04/01/2012 22:15

To religiously do oil cleansing every single night.

To lose the baby weight (5 stone) from two pregnancies (Slimming World + C25K), although this is a long term goal!

To exfoliate every morning.

With each stone I lose I will treat myself, and, having clicked on Season'sGripings' link, treat number 1 will be some Moroccan Oil Smile

Reb3cca · 05/01/2012 00:50

I will exercise everyday
I will make a big effort to go out and meet new baby mummy friends (bubs is 8 weeks today)
I will join my local jazzercise class
I will start writing my book that I have always wanted to write
I will organise my wardrobe

phi40 · 05/01/2012 10:18

I will stop buying crap clothes at the supermarket that make me feel like a fat frump and instead focus on losing that stone then all my lovely clothes ALREADY in my cupboard will fit.
What are MN thoughts on that new book Run Fat Bitch Run that was previewed in the Times yesterday?

Snowsister · 05/01/2012 14:09

Oooh I read that review phi40. She sounds inspiring and it even made me consider trying a bit of running once the weather improves a bit

Doing WW and planning to buy some new trainers. Its a start.

MABS · 05/01/2012 14:49

morrocan oil is great, i love it for my dry fizzy hair. Still no booze since sunday, tmro is nails, waxing and hair cut/colur :)

kickassangel · 05/01/2012 16:10

I have just done day one of couch to 5k. It was relatively easy though, as I'm still on Christmas break. Next week when I have to be up for school will be tough.

phi40 · 05/01/2012 22:05

Ha-ha snowsister. Fat bitch trainer says No Shopping for new trainers. I was considering the same but I know that is just a delaying tactic as who knows how long till I source the perfect pair of trainer. I am planning to walk tomorrow . Hmmmm.

Snowsister · 06/01/2012 20:58

I am trainerless so unable to run! Currently sourcing new trainers, it may take a while Grin

Snowsister · 06/01/2012 20:58

enjoy your walk Smile

puggirl · 07/01/2012 10:36
