Are you all nursing hangovers or just clearing up the post Christmas mess?

Can I go to bed now?

Am doodling around. DP is feeling ill. DD1 is nearly asleep. DD2 has announced her intention to stay awake till midnight Hmm. Curries were fab. I am spherical with food and bloat, seriously, you could roll me down a hill.

wilbur · 01/01/2012 01:24

Happy New Year, crepetastic friends! Hope 2012 is good for you all. Am lying on sofa with dh, having had nice dins with good friends, put the world to rights and finished The Independent quiz of the year. Am just wondering how much they paid the man with the clock on his face who has been dancing around on Jules Holland for hours now...

MrsSchadenfreude · 01/01/2012 02:18

Happy New Year Hags! What started off as dinner for six ended as dinner and party for 14! Tis just gone three, have hoofed last guests out of the door and in bed now, texting GBF who has very glam life!

I went to dinner and was back home by 9.00. Really am feeling crap, didn't want to eat and friend asked me a question that made me realise something and I was :( Figured best to take myself and a rapidly flagging ds off to bed. Left dp to it.

Eurgh. To bed at 1, after a bit too much champers and barolo, and DS woke us up at 7. Totally rock and roll evening with a home-made chilli, double bill of Great Expectations, and a doze on the sofa so I missed vital parts of the plot.

We've invited both sets of neighbours round later for drinks n nibbles. One set are new, and have never met the other set, so it could either be a marvellous moment of meeting of minds and we'll all become best friends for ever, or horribly awkward.

Blackduck · 01/01/2012 08:37

Hi ruby, am physically unwell - horrendous cold I have had for nearly two weeks now, so very tired and under par, but what friend said made me realise I feel very isolated. Long chat with dp about it this morning. Trouble is I come from a long line of stiff upper lip, don't ask for help/shoulder to cry on....

MrsS did the curries stretch to 14, or did you have to knock up something else - we had enough food to feed the street, we could have given you some!

bigTillyMincepie · 01/01/2012 08:55

Happy New Year Hags Grin

We stuck to Plan A and had a TV night on the sofa with the DC who DH tried to make go to bed at 11. Whe that failed, he went to bed instead, so I stayed up and watched the fireworks on TV with them. They were pretty impressive this year - DS kept saying "I wonder how much that lot cost" and estimated it to be about £1000!

BD, sorry you are starting the New Year feeling like that [sd]

motherinferior · 01/01/2012 10:25

Oh BD. I am so sorry you are feeling this way.

I do not have a hangover Shock on NYD!

Happy new year!

bigTillyMint · 01/01/2012 15:01

Nor do I MI - first time ever (apart from when I was preggo with the DC, of course!) I think. It's a good feeling, even if the weather is crap.

motherinferior · 01/01/2012 15:08

We are being taken out to the Railway Children (my daddy! oh my DADDY!) at Waterloo. I am thrilled. The Inferiorettes less so.

bigTillyMint · 01/01/2012 15:16

Awww - one of my all time fav films. I've heard the theatre production is really good too.

MrsSchadenfreude · 01/01/2012 15:36

Xmas Envy at Railway Children. I have a friend coming round and we are going to drink tea, eat muffins (lime and coconut, in oven) and watch It's A Wonderful Life, which I have never seen.

BD - hope you get feel better soon.

The curry stretched fine, and we have quite a bit left as well. Am making lasagne tonight - cannot face curry again!

A super neurofen has sorted out my hangover a treat, as has a bottle of Coke and some shreddies.

Blackduck · 01/01/2012 16:17

Thanks all for kind words. Tough year, and big changes ahead.
Tops of legs ache as if I have been horse riding....I do not recall horse riding recently, is this a fluey type thing? (never had flu, but I thought the pain was in the joints)
I am in bed watching 'great expectations' and intend to have a Chase g&t in a bit, and a Chinese takeaway for tea.
Dp has given ds his iPad as he has cracked the screen (on the side, still perfectly serviceable, but silly money to repair), ds is thrilled, I am Hmm

alto2 · 01/01/2012 18:43

May I consult you ladies? This seems the most appropriate place. Apologies if I'm crashing a quiche. I'm a regular, used to be eemie. Also achieved the age of discretion well before motherhood (ahem) and people always assume my daughter must be grown up (she's 13).

I'm thinking about going grey gracefully after years of light brown tints. There's a lot of white underneath. Would of course prefer exciting silver effect if achievable. Any advice? Or are you all still glamorously blonde with intimidating highlights?

Now seems a good time as colour and cut are well overdue thanks to flu. Roots have grown out and dye job is very faded.

Happy New Year to you all.

bigTillyMint · 01/01/2012 18:49

Hi altoSmile come in!
Sadly (well, probably not sadly at all Grin) I don't know anything about dyeing/going grey, but I'm sure someone else will.

alto2 · 01/01/2012 18:56

QueenLush, have you seen ?

Oh very happy new year indeed all on planet of the Crepes.

Read all your accounts of christmas and new year with interest. More from me soon. Am being called to hear DH playing something on the guitar.

MrsSchadenfreude · 01/01/2012 20:19

Hello Alto!

OldQueenie on our last thread said she had grey hair in a funky cut - hopefully she will find us again soon.

Yes - Simon's Cat's Christmas tree was just like chez nous last Christmas. This year The Kitten is scared of the tree, and the large Maine Coon has deemed climbing to be beneath him, and just gives the balls a quick whack when he thinks no-one is looking, or runs past with a piece of tinsel in his mouth, with The Kitten in hot pursuit. (The bottom of our tree is quite bare.)

I don't think my lasagne is going to be very nice as I was a bit low on sauce, so fear it may be a bit dry. No doubt the DDs will let me know!

HuffyTheSamphireSlayer · 01/01/2012 20:46

Phew, Christmas is now officially Over. Have returned from another heavy lunch with more present-exchanging with more relatives. Ds played nicely and decorously with his Nice and Decorous Cousins (as opposed to the Evil Cousins that we saw last week). They spent all afternoon making a pretend ice cream cafe. Dd huffed in the corner with her black nails, occasionionally managing to crack a smile when she thought no one except the 2-yr-old cutie was looking. This all made a pleasant change from the entertainment on Christmas Day Mk1, which was essentially the Evil Cousins and ds acting out the most heinous bits of Grand Theft Auto. That was not so relaxing.

oldqueenie · 01/01/2012 21:34

hi alto.... I am glamorously grey. It's not easy to go grey well ime and i would suggest you get someadvice from trusted professional in the first instance. the hard bit for me was the stage where i was my natural mid brown mixed with grey rather than predominantly grey. at one point i was ading grey to my natural colour which seemed a bit mad but worked. once you are really grey you can use fab old lady purple shampoo for a marvellous silvery grey effect. my hair is short so was all relatively easy.... ask away if you think i can answer any questions...

oldqueenie · 01/01/2012 21:35

apologies for crap typing. have downed a glass of divine sloe vodka and honey... well that's my excuse....

bigTillyMint · 01/01/2012 21:37

Hi Dukes and OldQueenie! Are you up for the meet-up on the 20th? And Alto!

I suddenly remembered we have one more lunch at friends tomorrow, and then the austerity regime is supposed to startHmm
