Are you all nursing hangovers or just clearing up the post Christmas mess?

OP posts:
DukesOfTripHazard · 27/01/2012 13:25

Blackduck, hold me handbag a minute . Sorry!!! Reminds me of lunch me and DH had with friends when we were mid-way through The Wire box sets and obsessional. They had watched the lot. We knew we shouldn't talk about it but DH and I couldn't resist bringing things up only to get a spoiler in the kisser!

Should be working on a play treatment but am feeling cock-a-hoop and lackadaisical. Prob because AF has deigned to turn up at last (day 39 Confused)

motherinferior · 27/01/2012 13:49

I am allegedly working at home today. It makes me feel lackadaisical too. I have however swum again this morning.

herbaceous · 27/01/2012 13:52

I am 'working from home'. Have done about a tenth what I'd do if in an office. Can't seem to do more than about five minutes' work before having to just check facebook, twitter, mumsnet, etc etc.

Just found out my mum's out of her operation, and is fine. Had an enormous cry ? think it must have been hanging over me somewhat!

May now abandon work to fill in grant application, pack for weekend, and celebrate still having a mother with a cup of tea.

DukesOfTripHazard · 27/01/2012 13:58

Oh yes herbs, big stress having rellie operated on. Surpised you've done a 1/10th

CointreauVersial · 27/01/2012 14:46

Wilbur - just passed a car with number plate WILBR, and thought of you.

Herbs - thank goodness your mum has come through her op. I think you deserve a chocolate hobnob with that tea. Hope the weekend is not too stressful - you did say you might leave DS at home, or is that not an option?

I'm at home at the moment, listening to the grunting and puffing of two heating engineers who are finally tackling my gungy pipes and non-functioning valves. I just realised I will have to leave them alone in the house for 30 minutes while I do the school run.

Mrs S - I was at the hairdressers this morning myself, but I'm not sure what I can suggest for you, as my hair is the polar opposite of yours, and would hang limply and greasily from my head if left to its own devices.

And in Fashion News, I'm loving my lovely new jade skinnies.....

herbaceous · 27/01/2012 14:49

CV - I did say I'd leave DS at home, didn't I. In the end I decided to bring him with partly because I'll miss him too much otherwise, partly as he'll be light relief and an excuse to get out of the house ('must take him to the park for an airing'), and partly as it will be nice for him and Dad to actually spend some qualiddy time together. I may yet live to regret this!

And yes, Mrs S. My hair is like CV's, and in need of a rocket up its arse, whereas yours is probably the sort that needs the rocket removing.

motherinferior · 27/01/2012 16:17

DD1 has come back from school with a certificate for Good Behaviour. She says her teacher told her she behaves 'like an adult'. I did ask whether this meant she lurched out of the pub at 11pm spoiling for a fight.

MrsSchadenfreude · 27/01/2012 16:21

Great excitement in the Schadenfreudehaus! The Schadenfrauleins entered the Jacqueline Wilson competition to make a video trailer for her new book "The Worst Thing About My Sister" and have just found out that they have made it to the top ten shortlist! Yay!

I don't think it matters how I ask a hairdresser to cut my hair as I always end up with it looking the same.

CointreauVersial · 27/01/2012 16:25

Grin MI

Fingers crossed, MrsS

MrsSchadenfreude · 27/01/2012 16:29

Grin MI. Or perhaps she effs and blinds a lot?

herbaceous · 27/01/2012 16:40

Perhaps she does the bare minimum, while covering her arse and blaming others? Or is that the offices I've worked in?

wilbur · 27/01/2012 16:55

A video of "The Worst thing about My Sister" eh? Can I enter? I have a Gone With The Wind's worth of material. Fab they got in the top ten though - how cool! Can we see it? Upload to YouTube? Or Shutterfly which is private?

And Herbs has hit it on the head with being an adult - that's exactly what grown ups are like, let's just hope the dcs don't find out too soon. Glad your Mum's ok, too, Herbs.

I shredded this morning. Am beginning to loathe Natalie with her rock abs when it's all I can do not to wee on the carpet during jumping jacks. I have taken to wearing my iPod for better musical accompaniment but I don't have one of those arm band for strapping it to myself, so have been variously tucking it into waistbands etc. Today, I came up with the wizzard wheeze of putting a pair of pants on over my keep fit leggings (stay with me) so that I could tuck the iPod in them and stop it bouncing around. It worked great and I was very pleased with myself until I looked out the bedroom window to see two builders working on a loft extension on a neighbours house that I swear wasn't there yesterday. Blush They were waving. And my external pants were red, like Superman.

motherinferior · 27/01/2012 16:58

Please don't tell me you also had a kind of codpiece effect with the iPod, Wilbur...

wilbur · 27/01/2012 17:02

No - they were tight pants Blush and kept it snugly on my hip. I think I need an iPod dock.

MrsSchadenfreude · 27/01/2012 17:05

It's on YouTube, Wilbur. I think I have your email addy, so will try and send you the link.

wilbur · 27/01/2012 17:06

On a sartorial note, I have had a complete result about the coffee coloured dress for the wedding next month. I have found in my cupboard some suede boots that go really well with it. Also a cardigan that I love but is difficult to pair, being a sort of pinky beige with cream/v pale pink sequins (sounds gopping but is lovely), turn out to be a very good match. Am well chuffed as I thought I was going to have to buy a new cardi or jacket, if not new shoes as well. Love it when a plan comes together Grin.

wilbur · 27/01/2012 17:07

Oh cool, MrsS - would love to see your girls.

Is your email address yourfirstname@bxxxfamily, Wilbur? (Before I send it to some random stranger.) Your outfit sounds great. My wardrobe is full of nothing to wear.

I have had the worst period ever today. I managed to drip blood all over the loo floor at work (not entirely sure how), didn't notice, trod in it and paddled about. It looked like there had been a murder in there. Fortunately I noticed before I left, and cleaned it up.

bigTillyMint · 27/01/2012 17:39

Am I the ONLY one who was working today?????

Wilbur, I thought you were going to say that you had to use an ipad to catch the weeGrin I am not leaking now - maybe it's the different moves or maybe it's because I do it first thing after a wee and before I drink anything!
And your outfit sounds gorgeousEnvy

Dukes I noticed Natalie slacking too!

MrsS, We all want the link - PM's please

Is the Cedric thing something to do with the Wire? Feeling completely out of the secret club as I have never watched it.

Good Luck Herbs. I have 2 lovelies in my group who are operating at about 3yrs old and who are constantly saying "bigTilly....." or "Why?" It is very difficult to reply after the 100th time without any exasperation in ones voice. Particularly when one at least is so happy and keen to talk with you....

Whiteboards sound to be the way to go at home!

Bad news at work - our boss has decided to retire in the summer. Not unexpected, but unwelcomeSad

bigTillyMint · 27/01/2012 17:40

MrsS, I have done that too Blush

CointreauVersial · 27/01/2012 17:44

GrinGrin Wilbur - that Shred story conjures up a superb mental picture. Were you wearing a blue cape for good measure, and doing lots of lunges?

I have a weeny pocket in the waistband of my running capris that fits an MP3, although now I've started to use my phone for music it won't fit, so I'm also in the market for an armband (eBay, obv).

MrsS, sympathies on the bloodbath. I had nothing at all this month, the merest smudge. I love that Mercilon, I do.

MrsSchadenfreude · 27/01/2012 17:59

What is Mercilon? I had mefenamic acid from the doctor, and it did nothing. Just made the period last about another five days, still flooding, still painful. On the bright side, I haven't been sick this month, but have had endless diarrhoea. Nice.

Blackduck · 27/01/2012 18:26

My period has absented itself, last one must have been at least eight weeks ago....
It's the night sweats that are getting to me. And BTM I was working today!
Oh mrs s love to see the girls!
I have just declared 'no electricity' to ds as he has forgotten to bring his homework home again. Getting bored of this now.
Cedric is Harry potter and dukes blabbing he was dead when I was mid film....
