Annie, this documentary following 2 North Korean girls prepare for the Mass Games should provide you with the inspiration you need to get back to doing the splits. Would recommend it to you all, v. interesting.

The MUs have been the highlight of the thread for me this year, such fun and I would recommend an overnight stay. I have particularly enjoyed the Hotel aspect of the MUs, felt a bit like what I imagine boarding school must be like Grin.

Best buys: Agnes x2, TS Jamies x3, Penelope Chilvers clog boots (all my footwear actually), Warehouse grey leopard scarf And TS bird scarf (still haven't found any I like better but suspect a McQ may fit the bill), FF navy poncho and my BR yellow bag.

Bad buys: bought that H&M bib necklace that LTEC raved about, laugh every time I look at it - never worn! Luckily it cost about £2 Grin.

Happy New Year to All, looking forward to some great shopping and laughs next year with everyone and to welcoming some new W&A babies

ApuskiMcClusky · 31/12/2011 11:47

Hello all! I can't believe its NYE already, where did the last week go! We're staying in tonight, meeting up with friends tomorrow instead.

I am loving all the 2011 lists, here's mine:

Best buys:
CDeC skinny jeans
Vince green suede biker jacket (also my most bargainous buy thanks to Cocosa)
My two Whistles scarves, I have worn them constantly
Maxmara interview dress that landed me my job!
H by Hudson heeled brogues, love them.

Mistakes
Only one really, a White Company dress that was too full in the skirt that I never got round to sending back despite their generous returns policy.

My North Face coat is still hanging up with tags on, but only because it hasn't been cold enough yet! And I have just started wearing carciofi's ebayed crumpet scarf, lovely!

Quite a few sales fails in the post today - am sending back the Isabella Oliver zigzag dress as it is too bandage-dress-like for me to wear to work despite fitting very well - feel too self-consciously skinny in it.

Which brings me onto 2012 resolutions - sleep more, eat more, exercise more.

And post more!

OllieinOrange · 31/12/2011 11:49

Such lovely posts.
Totally agree with Pickled and the fun to be had in the hotel. I've said it before, but its like the sleepover scene from Grease - I didnt stop laughing from when I arrived until I left (excluding the time I had to miss breakfast due to shocking hangover - Im still blaming that Woo Wo Emo!). Thank you Fritzi, Pickled and Icey for being such great roommates this year!

One of the other highlights this year has been the kindness shown amongst you all - I was so touched when Ants and WAN tracked down the Top Shop sequin top for me and Pickled's SS (not going to say who obviously) managed to send me the star ring in silver too which I adore.

Actually the SS was another highlight for me too - so much thought had gone into the presents and loved the mass opening.

Enough of the warm and fuzzy stuff - time for a family outing to the library and to pick up olliebollen - Dutch NYE tradition - they are like big doughnuts in a ball shape covered in icing sugar. Yum.

MarshaBrady · 31/12/2011 11:59

Ok,

Best buys:
APC boots
Stella M stuff
Kors shoes
Lots! really which shows how good you all are at keeping me on the good clothes path.

Mistakes
I snapped up the Paul&Joe red dress on the outnet for £36. But I can't do cowl necks (or polyester really). Although the colour is nice. I have only worn it once and the neckline bugged me.

Nicest thing: MUs, doing some good work which won nb, getting into good other work again. Lovely new (avid!) posters on this thread, and great old ones.

New Year's resolutions: get career/s rolling a bit more. New floors (parquet?).

ReineDeSaba · 31/12/2011 12:00

Happy New Year's Eve everyone..what lovely posts, but very true re-this thread..it's as funny and heartwarming as 'Bridesmaids' with plenty of good frock thrown in.

I have been off thread for the last week as trying to do some serious decluttering while DH around but still have a way to go Blush

carciofi you cannot leave the thread..you are queen of codes and as a fellow scarf lover,I forbid it Wink

I still really enjoy the links even though I have massively curtailed my own shopping but then it is probably easier for me to resist as most things would be way too long for me and handbags leave me cold(sorry!)

My favourite buys for 2011 have been the topshop feather top(which I sourced for half price on ebay)I have worn it loads but the quality was pretty poor for the full price.
the bird print dress

and a lovely cityscape dress from primark for a tenner.

bad buys..stockpiling tights..expecting some sort of hosiery armeggeddon Confused

S and B resolutions..much more attention to skin and hair..need to get the basics sorted!
get back on the Shred
and keep onwards and upwards with declutter..have a loft we can't get into

MarshaBrady · 31/12/2011 12:01

Oh and Berlin, seeing my family and getting on better with dh.

MarshaBrady · 31/12/2011 12:02

Ah Reine. cross post.

S&B resolution. Keep getting eyebrows done. Took the plunge! Finding some really good ballet flats.

ReineDeSaba · 31/12/2011 12:07

ooh I almost forgot I got the crumpet mustard orchid scarf and have worn it tonnes.

ReineDeSaba · 31/12/2011 12:10

marsha I need to do my eyebrows too..maybe DD2 will go to nursery late 2012 and I will be able to get on top of it though DH said this a.m he would consider being SAHD so watch this space..

ApuskiMcClusky · 31/12/2011 12:17

Oh yes, I forgot highlights - definitely MOAMU, as my only big meet-up (though also loved meeting red locally!). It was such a great weekend.

I can't quite believe all that has happened this year - being on mat leave, then being made redundant, DH changing jobs, moving house then me finding a new job. Positive changes overall, just quite a lot at once! And I have really appreciated all of your support and advice and ability to distract with links through all of it. Mwah! X

ReineDeSaba · 31/12/2011 12:19

wow coat marsha

emo the red dress is stunning

ants your tipsy post last night made me smile..hope you're not hurting too much.

what is everyone wearing tonight..I have just dyed my left shoulder along with my hair so strappless is off the cards for me.

who else thinks it's time for an ollie namechange..olliebollen..sweet just like you Smile

MidnightinMoscow · 31/12/2011 12:49

Happy New Years Eve to everyone.

DS up at 05.30am today, and bashing around on his keyboard that some kind soul got him...however he and DH are doing the supermarket run so I have my feet up with a cup of tea.

The posts about the thread have been heartwarming to read and I have been nodding along whilst reading. The MU was fab, and I can't wait to be at another one next year.

I can understand you not being able to explain about this thread Ants and the significance it has, but I get where you are coming from. You have all been such a source of inspiration and support during a very busy year.

Reine, sorry but I really laughed at your shoulder dyeing incident - exactly the sort of thing I would do. Grin

Apuski you have had a busy year, but have achieved so much.

Its lovely to read some of the comments about relationships with DH's. One of my personal resolutions is to look after my marriage a bit more. We have had a tricky year, one where it has become apparent that we have very little support both physically and emotionally from family sources. Time to look out for ourselves a bit more I think.

AntPants1 · 31/12/2011 13:02

Oh I am not in a good way! Who goes out the night BEFORE NYE and gets plastered!!

Just been out to get a few last minute things for tonight and picked up this fantastic scarf from Kew. It's the perfect seasonal red and only £25!! It's made me so happy. Am wearing it now, inside, whilst lying on my bed!

carciofi · 31/12/2011 14:14

Ants, possibly a little glass of something sparkly might perk you up? :) Nice scarf.

Reine, lemon juice on your shoulder might help!

Agree that Annie has fab hair.

You are not getting rid of me, but I must be more wise. I seem to be overly avid and it has got to STOP! DH and I have just made out a budget for Operation House in Dublin and I have agreed to stop getting the cleaner and weekly childminder (except one night a month so we can go out). My clothes budget is £150-200 per month which is still very good.

I've just cancelled two magazine subscriptions and ordered an XML book instead. Need to get my head out of the baby bubble and try to remember what I have on my CV!

Fleecy · 31/12/2011 14:46

Best Buys of 2011 ? IO maternity tank dress ? so versatile. DKNY cozy ? great cover up, big enough to wrap over a pregnancy bump and perfect for breastfeeding. Coloured skinnies ? I have green and a brick orangey colour. Ash Jalouse.

Best Bargain of 2011 ? IO maternity tank dress at 44% off. Should be able to get my money back on eBay so practically free Wink, a lovely cream silk Tucker blouse for £26 on eBay. Raspberry patent Bloch pumps from TK Maxx.

Still Hanging in the Wardrobe With Tags On ? this dress which I will wear with chestnut riding boots and a glossy chestnut belt. I really like it but am still a bit too big for it. Oops!

Best Beauty Discovery of 2011 ? the volumising dry shampoo. Fab stuff.

2012 Resolutions ? to stop relying on dry shampoo so much and wash my hair more frequently Blush To make a decision about whether to move to Spain or not.

The Nicest Thing About 2011 Was ? the arrival of our lovely Lara Genevieve. Not exactly style and beauty related though!

Very envious of you getting your hands on the swallow print blouse in the sale emo

Big LOL at ants and the drunken phone typing Grin But how lovely ? I agree, this thread really makes a difference. So warm, friendly and full of great ideas and advice.

Annie your best thing about 2011 was wonderful. Made me Smile

Reallygrumpy (is she now reallysleepy?) and fel1x both used to post on the thread and have had babies this year too.

carciofi · 31/12/2011 15:14

Reallygrumpy had a girl too, have all the W&A babies been girls?

Have just thrown the Pure Collection poloneck in the bin as it is a rag! I now need a black poloneck. Does anyone want a pair of grey cord J Brands, cigarette leg, size 29?

Fleecy · 31/12/2011 15:18

Ooh yes please if no other takers - how much?

Fel1x had a girl too - must be a W&A thing as bunny had her twin girls last year. How funny!

carciofi · 31/12/2011 15:31

No charge, Fleecy, just pm your address. I'll post them on Tues.
We forgot Apuski's little boy so the theory's blown!

Russianred · 31/12/2011 15:33

Just beginning to cook for Nye party tonight which i'm very excited about. Just quickly, i was desperate for that dress Marsha, if you want to sell it on, i'd give it a very good home! And Annie, your hair is awesome.
