I have an interview on Wednesday and ds1 has his school interview at exactly the same time.

I can't change mine as it will look bad to change due to childcare issues before even have it, and can't change ds as his fixed. Am sad I will miss being there with him. What shall I do? I can't really change either can I ?

Red you look great, don't sweat it about the skinnies, not everything fits me for sure.

Thanks Anniemac sniff. I'm such an idiot about it. Last week I could have said to the school we can't do this time but I laughed in the face of it being at exactly the same time. And lo and behold Hmm

Dh can do it. Which I should be grateful about really. Not sure why it has upset me this much. Tiredness and that hideous thing when you feel that you are not quite on top of things.

Bonsoir · 09/01/2012 15:37

Happy New Year, Wise & Avid ones Smile.

I was having a Marni moment yesterday and, while browsing online, discovered that Marni is doing a collection for H&M that is going to launch on 8 March 2012. Judging from this video link (in English) some of the stuff looks pretty good...

MarshaBrady · 09/01/2012 15:40

Ooh that looks good Bonsoir. I hope they stick to silk etc and not too much acrylic. The prints look lovely.

blue2711 · 09/01/2012 15:43

Hello everyone. Sympathy to all those poorly or down in the dumps. I feel a bit the same. I keep veering wildly from feeling positive and excited about birth and newborn bit and beyond, to tearful and despairing. Have had a few 'what have I done?' moments when I think of our lovely life as a family of 3... And when I think about what's going to happen to my body and my full nights of sleep in the next few weeks [selfish and vain emoticon]!

Oh, doorbell, back later.

Bonsoir · 09/01/2012 15:43

Even if it's cheapy material, it will be good for holidays! I'm going to an island off Sicily with DP in July (just the two of us) and could see myself on the back of a Vespa on the way to a secluded beach in some H&M Marni Wink

MarshaBrady · 09/01/2012 15:49

Ah yes lovely. That is something to look forward to Smile.

Blue it's emotional getting towards the end of a pregnancy. Lots of good vibes from here.

Emo76 · 09/01/2012 15:49

hi all - speed reading and catching up and just wanted to say

carciofi don't go..but if you do I hope you come back very soon. Sorry you're feeling a bit "meh" about things.

red I can confirm you are goregeous in real life

olly hope you are on the mend. I agree re food being a good idea for meet up. will put thinking hat on. we ended up in the "cave" as there were no tables available upstairs. result! could try to book if for next time. I am on for the meet up BTW

pickles I think red dress styling with black opaques and shoes and jacket/cardi for winter and tan/bare tights and neutral shoes for winter. I am not very imaginative with my styling but love the dress!

how do those whistles coates skinnies feel on - comfty or a bit stiff?!

MidnightinMoscow · 09/01/2012 15:59

Oh dear, bit of a W&A hug needed all round I think. I have spent the day feeling tearful about DH and I, it has been a long time since we have been in a good place and I am not sure how we get back there.

carciofi, please do stay, even if it's just to pop in for a hello. You have had so much going on in the last few months and with the lack of support from family nearby, it will be magnified. Do be kind to yourself.

marsha sorry to hear about the school/work situation. Understand how you'd feel frustrated. Any chance you could call the school and possibly enquire whether the interview could be rescheduled? I am sure many parents do ask.

Oh Red, I can only echo the comments already made. I thought you look simply stunning at the MU, and I am always impressed by your sense of style. Don't be so hard on yourself. And no, you don't need a calfectomy!

Sorry that you are feeling the strain of work and juggling family life annie. As you know I totally get where you are coming from. Sometimes you just want to press pause for a while to take a breath.

But hey, Amber glad to hear that the pox was not the pox. Enjoy the doughnuts!

ollie you have been ill, so is expected to be feeling not yourself. You made such an amazing effort to make the Christmas holidays so special for the boys - so it's no wonder you are feeling flat. Agree to having a few things to look forward to, however simple they are.

What a fantastic place this is though - so much support for each other.

Hi, sorry to see everyone feeling meh today. Another one here!

MIM hopefully it's just your pregnancy hormones making things seem worse than they are Brew

Carciofi Don't be a stranger, I really do enjoy your posts!

Blue I do think that the way you are feeling is common no matter how many pregnancies one has!

In the spirit of trying to snap out of it, I just got a text from a pal asking if I want to join some others and go to the cinema tonight, I don't feel like it but I know if will do me good. also I will have no friends if I don't make more of an effort!

I am dithering about the meet up, I really enjoyed the last two but that weekend is a bank holiday here!

loobylu3 · 09/01/2012 16:32

Sorry to hear that so many of you are feeling down/ unwell. Isn't January supposed to be the most miserable month, being after the buzz of Christmas and the coldest too?
carciofi- don't go! I love your chat and links. Two pre schoolers is hard work. If you ask me, you need a reliable babysitter who can give you the off am/pm off. I totally understand how you feel as if you brain is going to explode when you have absolutely no time to yourself! I tend to book the odd AL day term time so that I can have a few hours but obviously that doesn't work if you are on mat leave/ SAHM!
everything- I would definitely cut down on nap time/ cut it out some days if DS isn't tired at bedtime. DD2 is a similar age, I think 2.10 and only naps 2 or 3 days a week now and wouldn't settle at 7pm if she has a 2 hour nap. DD1 cut her naps out totally a little before she was 2 and DS at around 2.8. I admit that I do have particularly energetic children but I don't think it is that rare not not need a nap everyday at this age. I sympathise with your lack of evenings. My older two don't sleep until late and v rarely seem any the worse for it. I am a bit concerned when no.4 arrives as I think I will need to be sleeping before them so I hope that they don't disturb me!

marsha- I would try to call the school too and see if the time could be rearranged. Isn't he only 6? Interview sounds a bit serious at that age!

blue-it's only natural to feel v up and down/ hormonal just before giving birth. It's good to give yourself time to think things through and prepare physically/ mentally, I think. Once you have your gorgeous newborn, all those fears will be banished.

red- I haven't met you but I remember seeing a pic and can confirm that you looked fantastic. You always sound super stylish in here. It's just a question of finding things that suit your shape/ colouring right but it can be immensely irritating when you really love a style that just doesn't like you! I am also pear shaped and am always aware of my bottom in trousers (sometimes good, sometimes v bad)!

The DC have a friend each to play this pm but they are all playing beautifully and have hardly heard a peep (hence the MNetting)! If it is just the siblings, they tend to fight much more.

OllieinOrange · 09/01/2012 16:54

Wasn't there another Saturday in March that lots of other people could make too? 10th?

MarshaBrady · 09/01/2012 17:09

Oh MIM it is tricky. Hugs. I hope you can get back where you want to be. Dh and I intermittently raged at each other for nearly two years (mostly due to sleep deprivation). We are getting on again now, but two years! I really hope you can find a way.

Annie your lucky dh!

Ollie yes the 10th I think.

Looby ha I know he is 6. It's quite fun doing all this stuff, he has been really good. And considering I was worried he might fold and cry or something it's been really great to see him take it in his stride. 'Passing' the assessment has been good for his confidence. He needed a boost.

Dh can take him and I will try not to feel that I would rather be in some other place than my interview. I suppose it's good to share it with dh so he can enjoy parts of it too.

pickledsiblings · 09/01/2012 17:15

Red, the Whistles skinnies don't work for me either - too big on the waist and I don't think they're v. skinny, nice jeans though and yes, a bit stiff Emo. They are waxed which means they smelled a bit like workmen's trousers are nice and matt.

Marsha, DD has an entrance test on a day that I am working and DH has agreed to take her, I think it will be good for them. Your DS may be more relaxed if you are not around as he won't be picking up on your panicky vibe Smile. You could call the school and explain that you have an interview at the same time - I am sure that they will be able to reschedule, especially since you can be quite flexible. Are we allowed to know what your interview is for?

GeorginaWorsley · 09/01/2012 17:22

Like idea of coated skinnies but don't want an expensive pair, plus may feel somewhat constricted!!

MarshaBrady · 09/01/2012 17:25

No, no I don't send off panicky vibes Wink, I really enjoy it. God am being selfish. Dh can do it. He has to fund it anyway (well until I help him) he may as well get some enjoyment from the whole thing.

The school did say in a letter that if there was any time that we couldn't do it to let them know before Friday, so I thought ha won't be same time. See, idiotic!

My interview is at the same place as the freelance bits. But more permanent. So not a complete unknown, familiar faces etc. As an aside I have nothing to wear! Lots of shoes, but zero work type skirts.

MrsCampbellBlack · 09/01/2012 17:37

Red - shame about the jeans - I have the same problem with dresses as have no waist so end up looking like a sack of potatoes in them.

Gosh - they're skinny enough for me but I don't really do ultra skinny/jeggings type jeans - prefer a slim leg really as work better with heels in my opinion.

I am wearing them today with the brown timberland boots [another good carciofi recommendation]

Right bathtime beckons . . .

Oh and re. naps - none of mine napped in the day from about 2 years onwards and they still get up very early as they just don't seem to need much sleep [joy] But for that reason they do go to bed fairly early - well getting later with eldest but I so need my evenings.

Hopefully · 09/01/2012 17:40

Sorry to hear there's so much blueness on the thread. In the finest tradition of stalkers lurkers, I am rather attached to you all!

NY thanks for the boot thoughts - ideally I'd like something a little more edgy than Chelseas, but I'm struggling to find any acceptable ankle boots in brown of any description. Chelsea boots would emphatically not pass the Roxy Test though.

MarshaBrady · 09/01/2012 17:48

Hopefully What about the Carvela one's I got? I know they didn''t raise much of hair here. BUT they are the most comfortable shoe boot thing to wear with skinny jeans and I am very fussy. I can't wear knee boots every day.

They work well with ones that finish snugly at the ankle (and have a zip) rather than gathered a long. I think the latter works better with ballet flats. Although it's a bit early for those.

What are your skinny jeans like?

pickledsiblings · 09/01/2012 17:51

Marsha, there'll be lots of other events to enjoy when he gets in Smile.

MrsCB, I love the skinniness of TS Jamies.
