I am determined to pay more attention to personal grooming in the new year, for dh's sake.

What are your beauty secrets? A friend of mine got me into dry brushing and now I am evangelical. Any other tips besides the usual get 8 hours sleep, don't drink, don't smoke, exercise, be calm and serene...

terryschonkyorange · 31/12/2005 20:25

Seriously lou?? I heard models used it, but have never been brave enough to try it

expatinscotland · 31/12/2005 20:33

Dry bushing absolutely!

LOTS of water.

Oil of Olay Regenerist serum

Tesco Make Up Face Lift under my foundation. It is SERIOUSLY beyond.

terryschonkyorange · 31/12/2005 20:38

Another vote for Tesco's Face Lift (and can also recommend Tesco's eyeshadows).

terryschonkyorange · 31/12/2005 20:39

Oh, and a decent set of make-up brushes, rather than using the applicators that are supplied with eyeshadows etc.

JoolsToo · 31/12/2005 20:39

what's that she calls - FACE LIFT!!! I need one of those - what does it do?

LadyTophamHatt · 31/12/2005 20:44

I bought one of those black and white mascaras for xmas and it's FAB.
I have long lashes anyway but it makes them look amazing...even DH commented and that a real selling point as he never notices anything.

JoolsToo · 31/12/2005 20:46

does it cover all the white though?

lou33 · 31/12/2005 20:47

seriously

Blossomhill · 31/12/2005 20:47

I love Holiday Sun by Johnsons. Gave me brown legs throughout the summer and is so cheap.
Even now when I go on a night out I pile loads on he night before and it takes away that pasty white look.
1 tip, always use with a tanning mitt to avoid streaks. Really does work.
Also use Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream for spots, dry skin, excellent. Even gets rid of molluscums.

terryschonkyorange · 31/12/2005 20:49

I'm tempted, I have hideous under eye bags

terryschonkyorange · 31/12/2005 20:50

Face Lift has light reflecting particles, so gives your skin luminosity (sp?). It's lush, and only £8 a pot.

Blossomhill · 31/12/2005 20:59

a biggy is nicely shaped eyebrows. Make such a difference and give you that groomed look. I get mine waxed and then pluck inbetween.

JoolsToo · 31/12/2005 21:00

blimey Blossom have you turned into a beuaty therapist overnight?

Blossomhill · 31/12/2005 21:02

Joolstoo - PMSL

No honestly I do try and look my best nowadays.

Spent so long in a grey tracksuit and hair scraped back when kids were little so try and make an effort .

JoolsToo · 31/12/2005 21:04

good for you - you're right about the eyebrows too!

I find I have to keep making the effort - now I don't work it'd be easy to slob about

A cheap but brill deep conditioner. It's called 'Inecto' and I buy it in sachets at Semi-Chem for 59p. Man, it ROX!

Massage it into hair, then put on processing cap from Sally's Beauty Supply. Have a soak in the bath, give self a pedicure/manicure, etc.

Wash out.

Lovely, soft hair.

Excellent for colour treated hair like mine.

seb1 · 08/01/2006 21:38

What's a processing cap?

expatinscotland · 08/01/2006 21:41

it's what you use if you do your own hair colour, perms, etc. perfect for deep conditioning, too!
