I have been very very grumpy today. (And I'm really sorry, CV, but I'm not sure about parking.)

Except now I've heard that my friends' little girl, who had a brain tumour last year, is ill again. And it does not sound very good.

oldqueenie · 22/11/2011 20:58

that sounds awful MI. came on here to say to you that I've seen that Gap fairisle cardi in the flesh and it's really rather nice, very handsome in a homely kind of way. also to say uniqlo do freee alterations on things over £19, and v cheap ones on things under. hope that doesn't seem too trivial in the face of your friend's news Sad

bigTillyMint · 22/11/2011 21:02

MI Sad

motherinferior · 22/11/2011 21:04

(I did buy that cardie Blush with a 30% discount. Just before our boiler packed up.)

Yes, it is horrible about F's little girl. Don't know anything more at the moment. It makes me realise, in that classic way, that my day to day irritations are so bloody minor.

Awww....much grumpiness amidst the crepeyness. Sorry to hear about your friend's little girl, MI.

No hormonal grumps here - far from it - after almost a month on the new pill AF and her attendant mood-swings has stayed well away. I feel almost.....normal at the moment. It won't last.

MI, very sorry to hear that. Sad

Ruby, I am embarrassed about doing this, because they were an obscene amount of money. Well, in my terms. In my (feeble) defence, I have never bought anything like this before and will probably never again. And even if you are really rude about them, I don't care because I love them. I do, I do, I do. (Hugs boots and prays that no major repairs are necessary in house for some time)

Here

I am eating only porridge for the rest of the year and have given up sundry luxuries in penance (am knitting own hair shirt).

CointreauVersial · 22/11/2011 21:33

No, seriously Strops, they are lovely, definitely investment items; who cares if it's turkeyburgers for Christmas lunch and Primark prezzies under the tree? Grin

CV Grin - as long as I don't make a habit of it... Just like to point out the price on the link is in US$. I did not pay over 200 smackers for them. I am probably due 200 actual smacks from my family, though. Especially as on the same day as I bought the boots I moaned to the children about how much money they wasted by not eating the cucumber slices in their packed lunches Grin

I am getting value for money by now wearing all the skirts that I never wore before

I'm sure you can never be too old for a biker jacket, Ruby! Can you give us a link?

motherinferior · 22/11/2011 21:45

Well, you're not going to be any younger next year, are you, Ruby Grin. Go for it now, girl.

Blackduck · 22/11/2011 21:45

Sorry to hear about friend's child MI.

I am surprisingly non-grumpy at the moment, this could be because those lovely people at the inland revenue have just given me a nice tax rebate....... AND dp and I ate for free on Saturday........ I am easily pleased! I am less pleased that an old friend thinks I have blocked her mobile number (long story, but a. I wouldn't know how, and b. I just wouldn't anyway..)

CointreauVersial · 22/11/2011 21:58

Ruby - is it the Next one? I spotted you on another thread quizzing someone about it (you can run but you can't hide...).

I very nearly bought a gorgeous Oasis grey suede biker jacket in our local second-hand vintage shop recently, but talked myself out of it. It did look nice, though (sigh).

I have got to rustle up an Olympic sportsperson costume for Friday and a Victorian urchin costume for the following Friday.

Stropperella · 22/11/2011 22:01

Sorry, that post just slipped out as I was musing over the list of Olympic sports... and debating what things I have readily available. Hmm.

Lovely boots Mrs S. Very similar to the Clarks ones I have from a few years ago that cost £40. Good old Clarks.

I'm very grumpy at the mo. Mid-aunt flo, and with too much to do regarding mine and others birthdays, this blasted new committee, and trying to get my hair cut and dyed before Saturday with a two-year-old in tow.

Bought a pair of skinny jeans today from good old Dotty Ps. Seem big in the waist, but small on the knee. I fear this may be a bad look.

Stropperella · 22/11/2011 22:03

Ooh, I do like that jacket. V. nice indeed.

Stropperella · 22/11/2011 22:21

Oh no, Herbs, now I feel even more guilty! I did try and get some Clarks, I really did. I tried them on, but I couldn't get my fat little feet in most of them and the ones I could get into weren't very nice. And they were all about £100 too, come to think of it...

bigTillyMint · 23/11/2011 08:12

Like the boots Strop - and not THAT expensive! I nearly bought myself another pair of boots - in the Amazon lightning sale - Timberland £55 down from £170. They were in my basket but I reined myself in - sadlySad I have about 10 pairs of boots already!

ruby I love the biker jacket - wonder if I can justify getting yet another jacket.......
