I am very very tired. Have just realised this is partly because we sleep in the attic and the rain sounded like hammers at 6am [dur-ur].

Also am very cross with spritely young colleagues for a number of reasons not all entirely connected with envy of their youth and spriteliness...

thenightsky · 04/11/2011 20:12

Herb... re the 'big arse' comment. When DD was about 3, we were in in cafe. DD was swinging her feet and sucking on on her milkshake straw whilst staring avidly at two elderly ladies on table next to us. Suddenly and without warning, she announced loudly, whilst pointing....

'THAT'S A THIN ONE AND THAT'S A FAT ONE'

I felt very old today; leafing throught a copy of my school "old girls" magazine I noted that yet another batch of my ex-teachers have fallen off their perches, most of them at advanced ages. This year it was my German, Music and Cookery teachers, last year it was History, Geography and the Headmistress.

I went to see the doc this morning to report back on my less-than-successful three months on Cerazette. I'm now trying Mercilon for three months, which is a combined pill, so fingers crossed for lighter periods, less grumpiness and (please, please) a spark or two in the bedroom department. The doc is very sympathetic, thank goodness, and is quite happy for me to work my way through the alphabet of hormonal treatments, if necessary, to find one that works.

Busy weekend coming up, with DS's 12th birthday on Sunday (stunt scooter arrived this afternoon, thank goodness). We are going to a small village firework display on Saturday then round to friends for post-bonfire chilli and jacket spuds.

thenightsky · 04/11/2011 21:39

Coin... had shocking time on Mercilon myself. good luck.

CointreauVersial · 04/11/2011 23:24

Eeek - nightsky - do tell!

I was on Marvelon (similar, apparently) throughout the "contraception years" and didn't have any problems, apart from dreadful acne for a few months when I gave up when TTC.

thenightsky · 04/11/2011 23:52

Shocking migraine. I kept quiet for about a year though as I wanted the drugs. Fessed up after losing sight occasionally though Shock

CointreauVersial · 05/11/2011 00:10

One of the questions the doc asked me was if I ever had migraines. Not something I've ever suffered from, but we'll see what happens......

bigTillyMint · 05/11/2011 07:52

Oooh CV, could you do a link to the scooter please - it sounds like something DS would be interested in!

motherinferior · 05/11/2011 09:24

My period has arrived, which does explain my own exhausted grumpiness Blush

DukesOfTripHazard · 05/11/2011 11:17

ROFL at 'THAT'S A THIN ONE AND THAT'S A FAT ONE' Thenightsky. Will go down shortly to tell dd1 who is revelling in the absence of dd2 (1st time at woodcraft camp) because she can 'play without tensing up at the thud, thud, thud that means she's coming in to spoil it' Sad but true. Dd1 is very self-sufficient and dd2 is loud and demanding. Huge fun too and love her deeply at course but she will doubtless be running them ragged...

ON LOFTS:
Strop I think it is good to wear sparkly hairclips to work in the loft. Might try it myself.

MI me too, shattered on Thursday after wooden spoon like rain frenzy on Velux windows.

Might watch the 25 ways with a scarf video again as I can only make the Infinity work...

I wear this in winter, btw, when it's really cold - not chic, but WARM.

And white company has 20 per cent off dresses and I am GOING to get that wool one I liked - the dress, not the tunic, as I've tried them on instore. Am also off to get hair cut later this morning. Am hoping not to look quite as thuggish as I did last time, though.

Am Old Lefty in office. AIBU for pointing out - to various eyerolls from colleagues though not from editor - that a feature on the British Summer really must show non-white faces in its images?

MrsSchadenfreude · 05/11/2011 13:59

Fete was crapola - didn't even get a book! The Scahdenfraulein, however, came away with two books, a couple of T shirts and some black skinny jeans (they had a children's second hand sale - lots of good stuff for peanuts if your children were small).

Am out tonight at friends who are divorcing - their last married dinner party. She said there will be fireworks, but I think she meant sparklers and such like! Trying to clean and tidy house now...oh how I yearn for a cleaner. Sad

motherinferior · 05/11/2011 14:15

I threw a wobbly about the state of our house today. DD1 (the darling) tidied our kitchen dining room while DP and DD2 were doing Dance. (DD2 doing Dance. NOT DP.)

I am also resenting the fact my period is both painful and ahem unproductive (TMI) so presumably will just go on for weeks again.

bigTillyMint · 05/11/2011 15:13

MrsS - how brave of them to have a divorcing party -never heard of that before!

I yearn for a cleaner too. In the Guardians questions there is "What is the worst job you have ever had" Cleaning the house is always going to be my worst job.

Blackduck · 05/11/2011 16:24

I will join mr S as I am incredibly foul at the moment and have no idea why. Terribly 'dog in the manger' ahh...
Had mammogram this morning, not as bad as I thought, but let's just contort your body, flattered your norks and shoot radiation at them.
I am supposed to be going out tonight but not in the mood.....
Spent a fortune on drugs for the manic dog - here's hoping they work.
And what do you do/say to an 8 yr old who announces I don't want to get fat, when I've seen more meat on a grey hound?

Herbs glad eye thing is working out.

thenightsky · 05/11/2011 20:24

Had hair cut this morning in stylee of Mary Portas but without the red. I am pleased with it I think Hmm

Meadowhall shopping centre tomorrow in attempt to find dress to see me through christmas 'season'.

thenightsky · 05/11/2011 20:26

Dukes... yy re infinity scarf working

Blackduck · 06/11/2011 07:45

Thanks ruby....
Dog seems a bit calmer, we live in hope.
Its a ds not a dd, but same issues apply. Have told him about growing and all that.

motherinferior · 06/11/2011 12:14

Oh BD, yes, tell him that kids NEED fat and suchlike to get big and strong.

(Unless, of course, you are my parents who told me, in tones of deep shame and embarrasment, that I was getting fat, at around this age. Thus triggering lifetime of body insecurities.)

Threw wobbly at Mr Inferior this morning about many things including need to sort kids' clothes, arrange their tea in advance (WHY am I the person who always does this, eh, why why WHY?) and generally Aired Issues. Kids have sorted their clothes (DD1, see above, did hers on her own and DD2 with minimal guidance) and DP has taken the point that their tea in the week is not solely my affair. Onwards. Upwards. Chocolate pudding for lunch. And my new haircut is quite fab Grin.

motherinferior · 06/11/2011 12:26

Would you like my dog vits, BD? (For the dog, obvs.)

Blackduck · 06/11/2011 12:45

As I have 'the black dog' maybe they would work for me MI? :) yes, that is a kind thought, maybe he needs a tonic!
I could do with doing so issue airing too, as dp frequently says 'what's for dinner?' in that expectant way.
