Do you wear anything special/make a special effort?

Yes I always make a special effort as if going on a night out.

flutterbeedreaminofawhitexmas · 22/12/2005 20:31

I make an effort too, in fact I have told DH that I am going to look for a new outfit tomorrow especially for Xmas say.

SpringCrimboTurkey · 22/12/2005 20:32

Ahh that's nice to hear. I will be making a special effort too, considering I hadto buy myown presents this year I got myself something suitable to wear.

Sellotape stuck to my socks, tinsel behind my ear and those annoying wire things that hold toys in boxes in my hair !

bsg · 22/12/2005 20:42

I would only make an effort if I was going to someones house. This year I would have been quite happy to slop about all day just having fun with the kids but unfortunately MIL is coming so I will have to at least get dressed

Mistletoo · 22/12/2005 20:42

yes please - red

SpringCrimboTurkey · 22/12/2005 20:43

What a plank !! PMSL,that was onviously meant to say

QueensSpeechEagle · 22/12/2005 20:44

Yes we always put on our best frocks! dh wears a tie as well, usually even though I think that is a bit OTT tbh.

BournemouthBaubleBabe · 22/12/2005 20:49

So you are slaving away in a steamy kitchen with your best togs on?? Or do you have a nice pinny on top? (Does anyone (other than MIL) wear an apron these days)?

NoRoosmumAtTheInn · 22/12/2005 20:52

family always used to dress up for dinner when i was a kid - but in-laws just wear scruffs.
if only they were that laid back the rest of the year

i kinda miss getting smart stuff on, makes the day more of an occasion IMO.

janeite · 22/12/2005 21:11

I wear my apron about 3 times a year; Christmas day being one of them - and the rare occasions when I remember it BEFORE splattering myself in muffin mix. Don't really dress up for Christmas day, just jeans and a nice top - we stay at home and don't invite anyone! Tis lovelee!

GingerBearingGifts · 22/12/2005 21:15

light up Rudolph jumper and matching slippers

AChristmasCarolinamoon · 22/12/2005 21:20

my mum always wears an apron for cooking, even if she's got her scruffiest togs on.

I make some kind of effort on Christmas day (put some make up on, etc), but my clothes always end up covered in flour and gravy so no point wearing sparkly togs.

falalaala · 22/12/2005 21:32

skirt
normally live in trousers

galaxy · 22/12/2005 21:37

clothes

If we're at home without guests, probably wouldn't dress up too much. We are going to sisters and think it would be rude not to make an effort as they all do so putting on a skirt for once (albeit a long one with boots).

Always remember having a new Christmas Day outfit delivered by Father Christmas when I was a child.

Sleighmenere · 22/12/2005 21:41

I am going to wear a DRESS! I have treated myself to a pair of Spanx pants and am hoping they are going to perform miracles. Anybody know if they are any good? They feel a bit flimsy to me

Bozza · 22/12/2005 21:42

Sort of smart casual - not quite going out at night. This year thinking of brown knee length boots, longish cord skirt with velvet bands around the bottom, plain short sleeve top and sparkly (but otherwise very plain) shrug.

Bozza · 22/12/2005 21:43

Plans might change if I get a nice surprise on the morning though.

notasheep · 22/12/2005 21:52

I was thinking of wearing my levis with a rip in the knee-then i will annoy my MIL even more!

GingerBearingGifts · 22/12/2005 21:56

Carmenere, I hope those spanx pants finish just under your bust, otherwise they roll down and squeeze your muffin top out like the foam flowing over a pint pot. (In my experience)

Sleighmenere · 22/12/2005 21:59

Lol gingerbear, if they do it'll only be my mil and her dp who will see me, the others are used to my muffin top, unwillingness to dress for my true size

Hulababy · 22/12/2005 22:02

Sp[ending the day with DH and DD, so no dressing up on Christmas Day, Most of morning and evening will be spent in PJs. Rest of day is something nice but comfy - suitable for being on my knees playing with DD.

We will dress up on Boxing Day when we have family round.

GingerBearingGifts · 22/12/2005 22:03
