here

We have a wedding to go to in 2 weeks, and I have a lovely dress for it. But don't want to wear a coat. I bought the stole and have borrowed an antique brooch from mil, overall, I really like the look. Dh does not. But he lives in shorts and should therefore be ignored, right?

I think you look v nice.

Trills · 10/10/2011 08:37

Where are you going - anywhere that you might get red paint thrown over you?

LissieLovettsDeliciousPies · 10/10/2011 08:39

Thanks, I have lost loads of weight thanks to being ill/tooth and this hides that nicely.

Perhaps not a rat, maybe a badger or a dead cat? Wink

Hate to say this, but I am with your DH on this. I hope he's not going to wear shorts to the wedding Wink

Wurg · 10/10/2011 08:40

It's not real rat fur... is it?

SolarPrestigeAGammon · 10/10/2011 08:40

Why are you lying down? Is it a fat/heavy rat?

SolarPrestigeAGammon · 10/10/2011 08:43

Looks like the dust I find under my bed.

Ditch it. Dress looks lovely. Agree with your DH.

LissieLovettsDeliciousPies · 10/10/2011 08:43

Trills, hahaha, its a wedding and not real. [Grin]

In fact, I'd probably be more popular there if it was.

I think it is nice. But how do you get it to stay still?

toddlerama · 10/10/2011 08:46

I like it.

Wurg · 10/10/2011 08:47

I rather like the 40's silhouette it gives but I don't think the colour and texture of the stole does much for the outfit.

bonkers20 · 10/10/2011 08:52

I think a light black wool wrap would look much nicer. The rat stole draws the attention away from the beautiful dress.
What is the neck line of the dress like?

LissieLovettsDeliciousPies · 10/10/2011 09:00

I've pinned a brooch to it, it does have a very 40's feel to it. I like that the bulkiness hides my sticky out collar bones/shoulder blades. Will post a pic of the dress when I get home.

Don't really like shrugs and pashmina's are out, too long. I'm v petite.

brooch is similar to this but without the crystals/diamonds.

You look very lovely in the dress, but I have to agree the stole looks a little wrong. It looks a bit rough and patchy, not nearly as elegant as you and the dress look. This might just be the fault of the picture, but it doesn't look as sleek as it should.

PinotScreechio · 10/10/2011 09:11

Well I like it. Read into that what you will :)

LissieLovettsDeliciousPies · 10/10/2011 09:12

because the dress is silk, and the belt/shoes are patent, I thought this would tone down the shininess without dressing it down too much.

im in a proper quandary!

SolarPrestigeAGammon · 10/10/2011 09:12

The dress looks much, much nicer on you than it does on the website.

Flowerista · 10/10/2011 09:16

I like it too, look on the Coast website furry stoles are everywhere. I'd be inclined to accessorise with a diamante brooch to lift the colour. Otherwise channel your inner Christina Hendricks.

LissieLovettsDeliciousPies · 10/10/2011 09:16

pinot, Grin

solar, it is a beautiful dress, and gives a lovely sillouhette. but because i lost weight its now a little big, so Im trying to hide that a little.
